High School

Today in Gym, we were doing Indoor Soccer and this 6 foot tall senior literally picks me up and places me behind him so he can get the ball, the teachers response "I didn't see it so play on." :grumpy:

Does anyone else have a teacher that is most commonly known by their first name? For me it's my history teach called Keith, we call him it and he doesn't actually mind any more :)
And he's from Birmingham so it gives us hours of fun saying "Hey I'm Keith, I'm from Birmingham" in the strongest brummie accent we can do  (We're easily amused)

Kind of. One of the English teachers is called Jamie, and he's practically a flourecent ginger, and my friend obsesses over gingers, so she calls him Jimbob all the time.

Oh also my old French teacher before I moved down is called Eunice, ah much fun to shout it down the languages corridor for no good reason

96% in my Grade 11 Chem assignment... was kinda wishing for 100%.. but oh well. I'm aiming for a 95% avg. this year. Last semester was a 92%, thanks to my pathetic French teacher who asked people if they're "S" when they ask redundant questions and told them "don't be such a BEEP, ok?"

School really pisses me off. It's bullcrap to get this much homework and be forced to recall everything that gets jammed into our growing minds for six hours a day. I have such a problem with the way everything is don't. We never learn anything to apply to the real world. Were learn it, spit it out on a test and move on. It's a huge waste of time. Sure, I need to know some stuff we learn, but Why don't were apply it to real life where we will need it? Maybe there is a use for, oh let's use chemistry as an example... Maybe I can use chemistry in real life other than if I become a chemist, but I don't know because were just do stuff to do it!

No wonder everyone thinks us Americans are stupid! We are! All of it is nonsense.

Here's an afterthought: I used to find history extremely pointless, but now I find it to be the most important class. So far I've already learned of so many mistakes that have been made in history and now I know not to let those things happen again.

There's a supply teacher at my school who everyone calls Cecil. Nobody knows if that's actually his name, but some kids got into a lengthy discussion with him about how his briefcase broke once...

Agreed, I'd appreciate to be taught more stuff that's applicable in later life, hopefully college will do that properly but I still have one more year to stand before then :grumpy:

R.E should be fun this year, studying Roman Catholic Ethics. May not sound interesting and it isn't, but it allows for discussion and arguments... I think I'm gonna have some fun although going to a catholic school I may also be punished to buggery

The religion course I had to do in my senior years was provided by the Board of Studies, so it had to be neutral (no bible-bashing). Hope you study bioethics (abortion, IVF, stem cells etc.). That's the juicy stuff.

Actually that makes me wonder. They say that a goal of a Catholic School is to strengthen ones faith. But most people who are graduating basically have no interest in the religion, myself included. I wonder why?

We have that down on the curriculum... hehehe :sly:
I know, since coming to high school I've become less religious to where I am now which is atheist. Really doesn't make sense in the scheme of things.

Time for a rundown of my day. So I get up, and guess what? I'm up 52 minutes late! I usually get up at 7:30 so I can get ready and arrive early (Usually get there early by 20 minutes or so), but my dad's alarm wasn't set! Yet even so, I managed to get there only 15 minutes late for art, and I finished what I needed to do early anyways. Guess I may be too fast. But after that, my day was fine. After that was English class, didn't do much there. Had a math test in the afternoon (1 block before everyone else would), wonder how well I did. Hopefully I did well, I'm usually okay with math. For the last block, I had PE. I hate running. And usually, I'm with this guy named Jeremy in class, and he was sick or something, so filling in for him was... Jeremy. The fun has been doubled. So after the morning lateness, I was fine.

The program I am in tries to go beyond the recall and actually have the students apply their thinking and learned material (it's called the Learner Profile). So far I experienced little of the concept in-action, but I think that will change as months go by.

Some interesting things happened today: In my study hall, there was a junior/senior dressed as an old man with a rocker that came in as well as more elderly actors/actresses in my Bio. There was a grown man even dressed as a baby who strolled around and swiftly rubbed people's heads without response or emotion. While this may sounded unconventional, they were actually pretty good at acting & were surprisingly funny - except the baby, though.. totally was not necessary.

Ooh today I handed back the IPod to the girl. She wasn't mad :). Forgot to give a form in to a teacher, but I'll do it in the morning

****, I crashed at the Karussel. I decided to start skipping some classes.. Little do I know is that I have to have proof of all absences before I graduate... Gonna go to the pits for a long time.

Supply teacher in science which ticked me off a bit because we're starting or double science course and frankly it's difficult to learn when the teacher doesn't know any science :grumpy: Finished all the work in 20 minutes which left the rest of the lesson to do the Gangnam style dance with 2 other guys in the back of the class

Oppa gangnam style! Wish I could do that in science class. Speaking of which, my teacher is pretty cool. She let's you listen to music and such. I like her

I have two science teachers, one's extremely strict but is a very good teacher and the other's kinder but not that good a teacher and she tends to patronise us and think we're all morons when we're all getting B's and A's :grumpy:

You can't listen to music in a lot of your classes? Only time we "can't" listen to mp3 players and the like is when the teacher is doing a lesson or it's a test at our school. And texting in class is tolerated by a few teachers as long as it doesn't distract others. Guess we're lucky here. Today was alright, started working on sorting and filing some sheets from earlier this year properly in the office. I'm liking my co-operative education so far, my fellow co-workers treat me with respect and are willing to help me when I need assistance, I fit in rather well there and I like that. After that I had math class where we had a lesson on the area of complex shapes. It's like I'm doing grade 9 stuff again, it's supposed to be a grade 12 course. So, what took 20 minutes for me took everyone the whole 76 minute class, and they haven't even started the questions that were assigned (which I completed in class). Should've took data management...

Am I the only guy who does Biology, Physics, and Chemistry separately? :dunce:

I thought all schools in England-land do it like mine does. We have core science (Chemistry 1, Biology 1 and Physics 1) then if you picked additional science as an option you do C2, B2 and P2 and if you're in top set you do C3, B3 and P3 which requires staying an hour after school two days a week... thank god I'm in set 2
