Racer_LP, great race man, sorry if you received any taps or undue blocks. I only just traded in the GTR for the F430.

Some crazy lag today, I started in a 430 with at least two GTRs in the field, the race begins, all sorts of graphical craziness with lag, then I'm leading into turn 1?? Very odd.

It's also a shame that someone who uses the moniker "Race_fair_please" or something should wall-ride throughout the entire race, I remember races a couple nights back where he wasn't wallriding and was pretty fast anyway. Just a shame.

All the best

Yup that wallriding is getting more common again, maybe if when the penalty kicks in the brakes apply too it would cure it... As it is the penalty is less than the advantage.

My 1.10's were in races. Only managed a few laps that quick. Does rbe take it's effect from the leader of the race, or from the car in front? At least one of my 1.10's was when i was mid pack, but with clear track in front of me.

whats happend with you today Dust Driver, are you sometimes drunken? :odd:

i know nothing can be happend if you are driving reverse, but is not nice.

also GTP-Inkkari.

That makes sense and yes its a good time, no doubt about it.

I can't be certain, but I think the way the RBE is calculated is that it looks at the distance between the 1st place and last place and then applies a boost/handicap based on that. So... if someone gives up on the race and just hangs at the side of the track the RBE is lessened for the chasing pack. Anyone else noticed that?

I dunno, that whole RBE just needs to be dumped and soon as possible. Its stupid in the extreme to dynamically alter the handling of cars mid race, to get the most of the game you really need the handling and performance to be consistent at all times. I'm sure you guys will have noticed that in the events with tuned cars you set up the tuning up perfectly offline then get in the online race and the car feels entirely different like it is skating on ice... how anyone can find that a good thing is beyond me, PD must be bloody insane to have implemented it.

Well, I wouldn't if I could quit the race.
I'm just getting very bored with these same old events.

If you're at the back of the race with only punters in front of you it's more fun the drive the other way around and don't get hit by anything.

Even leading the race is boring

And no, I'm never drunk nor high.

And I already went away from driving around Fuji because I was turning into a punter myself, and didn't want that to happen.

edit: That race woke me up again Rudi ;)

Hello to everybody,

first i have to apologise for my bad English, i will try to do my best(google will help:)).
My PSN ID is fair_play_please (DE) and I was made aware to this forum by RudiRaser. Bye the way, thank you very much Rudi, for the great and fair race this midday.

@Maziar
If you mean me, that´s not true!!! It´s true that i often drive very very close to the walls (max. 2 half tires on the curb stones!)in the first and last corner on HSR, but that´s my quickest way to drive these corners (like dale earnhardt jr) and i´m not riding the wall, i only use the completely racetrack! Sometimes if i´m to fast or to late on the brake and when i then hit the wall only a bit, i get always a time penalty and loose the race.
Maybe it looks like wallriding, because i have sometimes problems with my 0,7 Mbit internet connection(and my PS3 is connected via WLAN). And then often looks the driving style from the others not good too.

If you mean another one with a similar ID, then i apologize for. But my first look in this forum and i think to read something like this about me:grumpy:

I hope everthing is clarified and we will have funny and fair races in the future.

Best regards to all....

PS: In my opinion it´s not possible to drive that time with wallriding or something like that. (Started 2nd or 3rd? and had only in the first 2 laps
slipstream, then alone with low 1:12:.. laptimes!):

Yeah I think the secret to HSR and all tracks really, is to be always watching in your mirror. I don't get punted at HSR all that much, but when you do get punted, because its such a high speed track (hence the name) when you do get punted it really puts you behind, I just try to get in the lead, best place to be and safest lol:D

In that case please accept my deepest apologies, because it did definitely look like you were wall riding. Well done for setting such good times though, and I did say it was a shame because you did seem like a very fast driver anyway.

I definitely look forward to meeting you again on track, the races aren't always fair but they are usually funny, so see you out there, and again I apologise for getting it wrong.

P.S. Your english is more than understandable :)

I noticed it. Let's compare two races of mine.
One race I was in a session with only 12 drivers mostly GTP forum members. I was in front and everyone had a good pace. The last guy was maybe 10-15 seconds behind. I was leading the race from the 2nd lap till the end. Put down consitent lap times of high 1.12 and at the end of the race mid 1.13 due to the RBE. Came to a total time of 6.08.xxx
Then I was in a race with 11 not so experienced drivers. I was leading the race again from the 2nd lap till the end. Same driving as the race mentioned above. But the rest of the pack were going slow: the driver in 2nd was 6 seconds behind, the last driver had a 30 second gap (estimates from the map). My lap times were rocketing skyhigh, from mid 1.13 in the 3rd lap till low 1.15 in the last one. Total time: 6.13.xxx. 2nd driver 6.20.xxx.
So I think it is true that the game calculates the difference with the pack and gives the front runners a handicap and the last drivers a boost according to that calculations. Is the field more spread then more handicap/boost is applied.

I wouldn't mind the RBE if it was so minor that it takes only a few tenths or of your lap when you are in front. But how it is implemented now is sometimes frustrating.👎

Like I said in the PM, don't worry about the little bumps. It was a good race. 👍

About the lag: it was very odd indeed. I was right behind you went I got control over my car, had already crossed the finish line and was already in 6th gear. Hadn't experienced that one before.:dopey:

RBE doesn,t really belong in a driving simulator does it. Has there been any official word from PD on this? Could it just be something which helps them collect data for future updates?

Yeah thats exactly in line with what I found man.

It just makes me laugh really, they tout GT5 as the 'real' driving simulator, but then add in completely non-realistic features like the rubber band effect. The odd thing is that it does NOTHING to enhance gameplay or indeed help slower drivers improve their skill, if anything it slows their progress as drivers. The bottom line is that the harder a race is the more it forces you to raise your game and get faster, while the RBE babies the slower drivers too much.

PD want to make the game a full-on sim or a full-on arcade racer and I'm afraid to say the two types of game are mutually exclusive.

Sometimes I wonder if the rubber band effect is the only effect. I do notice that my cornering speeds are a few kph lower (at the apex) but not that much, and I notice no substantial difference in exit speed. So I think there is a minor handicap in the power output of the car as well. What do you guys think?
By the way this is maybe the wrong thread to be discussing this, so sorry.

Just something strange happened. My connection can only handle 7-8 people max, but the game made me host a 11 car race.
As normal 3 cars got disconnected from the race, with the usual stuff happening on the pre-start grid.
But also something unusual happened. 1 car never made it over the start line.
I could just see the dot standing still on the first lap on the beginning of the straight, but the player disconnected before I could see where his car got stuck.

I had these wierd things also, all this doesn't happen when i close most running programmes on my pc though(downloading/mediaplayer/videos running etc etc)...my ps3 and pc are connected to the same modem!

sometimes my modem cannot take this and when i go online than the stuff you just discribed happenes a lot...:indiff:

maybe thats it???

spyrrari.

Nope, it's just the fact that I can't host more than 7-8 players on my connection.
Any more will cause these things to happen.

Only torrents will severally limit the amount of players, as you also need upload speed for that.
Watching youtube for example only uses a bit of upload bandwith and doesn't really interfere with online gaming.

Ok, thank you...I only wanted to correct the missunderstanding.
I´m really sure, that i have much more online-problems after the last update...
A few days ago, i was in 2nd position (2-3sec. behind) and than the leader begun to jump around the hole track. A few corners later on the straight, he flew through the air/screen and landed on me with a crash:scared: This was the first time, i have seen the bottom from a car in GT5:)

I´m looking forward to see you on track too...

regards...

Anyone for :30? My first race of the day so I might be a little squirrelly. . .

Again the usual amount of good races and then the other amount what i really really don't wanna talk about.
BTW have you ever tryed to drive the Fuji750 with tuned Suzuki swift, i can say yes... Even got 8th place

^ i might have to try something like that. . . how about a Swift versus cappacino? ? ?

Check the PSN guys. He's been me all along... :D

It started out just as an anonymous username, but I like him so much, I'm going to keep him.

Whats OFFLINE [--]?
I found him at Fuji in a Blitz (he started drifting...)

Well I thought offline was something do to with PD or something har har.

Wow, that was a pretty intense battle thru all those white GTRs at the front of that field. Don't know if those guys had coordinated that or what. Good to see GTP_Mr_Volcanos red Ferrari carve it up though 👍

Well just went from 12th to second on HSR and was within .400 of first. Would of had it to if the person I passed for second did not try to punt me from the side on the last corner. . . he ended in the wall btw.

Good racing Burnout 👍
Too bad drifting cant really catch up hehe...

I seen the sandwich that you got at T2 :embarrassed:

Off for bed Im sleepy after getting a whole hour of drifting caus the race was full of drifters. On my screen on the 3rd lap was 62'xxx:xxx
Total was about 1 hour and 5 mins... -_-

I better be on youtube with mixi haha

peace
