Holden's pictures update June 2014

These are so much better now that you aren't doing those really thin crops, they have a much better overall feel. Loving the yellow Mini pan, and the orange Mini lifting it's wheels. I like these shots from the full set as well: Ford Escort, the sequence of the Mini crashing was pretty good as well (despite the fence but for the purpose of a crash shot I'm kind of ignoring the fence ) I'm impressed at the high speed shooting on the 7D, my camera would definitely missed half of that! Great update 👍

I'm so so on that on the 7d yes its good cause it can help you get that perfect sporting picture such as a exhaust flame, airborne shot, crash shot etc but you don't have a hell of alot of pictures to go through at the end of the day.

Ha, I guess. Although I don't mind going through tonnes of shots the fact I usually come with a lot of shots anyway doesn't really bother me too much. When I went to the FIA GT1 I easily took about 1000.

not the best weekend as you might be able to tell from the vids maybe my 2 best pics of the weekend,my best friends dad racing impreza and the evo

spent more time taking pics this time due to the evos new engine not being ready for the racing

Got asked to take some pictures at an event last night called Future Fest which is an event at the O2 Academy in Glasgow one of the bigger and alot more established venues 18 bands featured over 2 floors.

Was originally taking pictures for a band i know and turned up at 6pm to discover that they weren't on till 11 so the floor manager changed my photo pass to all areas so i could cover the whole venue rather than just the one band.

Never knew there was so many rules for the bigger venues! No pictures showing what venue it is so it isnt seen as an advert for the venue,no pictures of staff/security and no pictures of the crowd that could identify who they are etc. Still not liking the 7D for music events, just feel like i cant seem to get the settings right for it.

All good but the drummer and guitar close up stand out for me. If you don't like your 7D I'll have it if you want ;)

Agree with GPR about the F16 and the Vulcan one is really nice too, lots of great one in the Flickr set...was that guy checking if the pilots had shaved with that lens!

triple post but i think worth it

Took as a tribute to my gran who passed away this morning having lived with her for the last 8 years and its all down to her when i got my first DSLR as i was a student and couldnt afford much but always had the agreement with her that if i really wanted something i would save up for it and once i had half she would put the other half towards it so i could get it.

Took this when i went down in the morning to find everything as it would be if she was there, when my grandad had left to go to church he left the remote on her trolley that she used and it was just a very very eerie feeling.

Sorry to hear that mate, sounds like your gran was one to encourage your interests.

Very nice shot though, quite befitting the mood of such news and the monotone suits it well. 👍

My deepest condolences to you and your family. People can be a bit unsympathetic when it's "only" a grandparent but it's always hard losing someone in your family. In your case it must be like losing a parent so I hope you are bearing up ok.

Very moving a fitting photograph.

Thanks guys

She wasn't "only" a grandparent, ive lived with my granparents for the last 8 years when my grandfather had an op on his knee and just basicly never went home

Exactly what I was trying to infer, when my Nan died some peoples reactions were quite underwhelming which was a bit upsetting but maybe they weren't as close to their own grandparents so didn't understand. Try not to take it personally if you get that too.

Love all the shots in the latest batch, nice work catching the flames in the first one 👍 Jag is awesome.

Liking the flaming Datsun and the drifting Jaaag. Overall a very nice set, again I'll say it but I'm not a fan of the tight, thin crops as I think it makes me feel I'm missing out especially on the Datsun one.

Also I think this one is much better than the Seat one you posted (Click-y) has a really nice sense of speed, and despite the composition being slightly out of wack it works really well with the nice glowing front brakes. Nice set though, your constantly improving with each set. 👍
