Yeah, being able to swap parts like that and having it work just like normal is awesome. I hope Honda keeps it simple in the future, too. But still, it looks like I'm just going to have to get used to electronically assisted everything, because that's all there's going to be by the time I'm able to buy my first new car. Maybe I'll just try to keep the old Hondas running! 💡

Shouldn't be hard.

Just a hunch? Iono know man, I heard they only go for like 250,000 miles before you have to replace the timing belt for the third time...

I sure hope these cars are still going when I'm 25 or so. That'll be awesome!

Damn, I missed a lot in this thread. I'd be around more often, but I want to hang myself everytime I wait for pages to load so I'm not online too often anymore.

If anyone is wondering about my Infiniti (*cough Nissan cough*), of lately I've installed a new Alpine head unit, two 10" Alpine Type R's along with a 940 watt RMS (roughly 3000 watts max) Kicker amp (yes, its loud...like, very loud). Sitting down stairs though I have some new OEM splash guards (color matched), a set of 2005 reverse lamp replacement lenses (death to the 3 strips and hooray for normal looking circles) and a 10 wire 4 guage Grounding Gear ground wire set, all of which should be installed sometime this week. 👍

*Gets ready for the flaming for posting about his Nissan in the Honda thread* :scared:

Toyomatt - What kinda parts are you planning with the engine build up? Nice EF by the way, love the nickname btw.

12.5:1 Wiseco pistons (kevlar coated sides, ceramic coated dome)
IB-Spec forged rods (kevlar coated)
ARP Headstuds
Cometic headgasket
IB-Spec Titanium valvetrain
35-40deg. VTC gear
Kinsler direct port ITB's
K20a2 Oil pump
Custom exhaust components
... (still undecided on some smaller parts)

But, yeah, the engine build-up might wait a year, until I can do the chassis welding I desire to do. So, I may just be gathering parts for a while. ;)

Cool, I've got my EM1. Now I've got a technical question for you EK guys...

How the hell do I get my shift knob off!? The boot seems to be connected to the knob.

EDIT: I need EK pics in the car pictures forum. Lots of them.

The boot shouldn't be stuck to the knob, maybe it's just never been taken off so it feels that way.

Or maybe, the guy has a short shifter and the boot wouldn't stay up so he glued it to the knob.

Otherwise it should just unscrew.

EDIT: Why are you taking your shift knob off?

toyomatt84 - Thats quite the list of goodies, sounds expensive though. Are you doing the build up yourself? Thats something I've always wanted to do, just never had the opportunity or time unfortuantly. :indiff:

Keef - Wheres the pics?! Your post means nothing without them.

I'll get them. Imma take some here in a bit. The fancy ones will have to wait a while because I'm not allowed to drive in until Tuesday when we get the title thing done.

Also, am I going to have to make this thing excessively ugly to make it look racey? I've been looking at tons of EM1s and ALL of them look clean and fancy and new and showy. Even the ugly ones! This car definitely doesn't look as mean as the Sol did.

Besides the little dent on the passenger door and a couple scratches by the driver's door handle it's in really good shape. I hate the dent of course, but I think I'll just leave it since it's not going to rust and then put a band-aid sticker over it. Anyone know where I can get a good sticker?

And like I said, the "prettiness" of this thing is going to annoy me for a while. The Sol looked mean, but this thing is pretty with its big, bright, shiny headlights and shiny wheels and all that. Bah! Oh and I think I'm going to cut off the muffler since the rest of the system is stock. It's far to quiet and refined. All the cat-backs I've listened to for these things sound pretty lame, so I'll prolly just leave it, but get a header eventually and maybe even hollow out the cat.

But the first thing I'll be doing is getting the suspension sorted. :D Shopping commences...now! Any suggestions for inexpensive, simple, and height-adjustable coilovers? TEIN Basics? Eibach's kit? H&R? Maybe one of those smaller companies that make good stuff? Is there a thread on H-T maybe that gives more info on this stuff?

I agree with Sp33, that looks so much better than the Sol it isn't funny. I wouldn't worry about the muffler too much, I've always found those cars to sound more "zippy" than anything.

Sweet, Milano Pink!

Now, find yourself a B20 and swap the bottom end in there... to cure the slowness, you know.

This is the problem I've been thinking about for a bit: This car is completely...normal. Even if I tune it out I'll be one of thousands upon thousands of tuned EK coupes.

But the Sol was a Sol, and people tend not to give them the type of Honda tuning we like. Actually, I was the only one in my area that tried it. It wasn't all that great, but hey, I was working on it. And it didn't take much to get to the point where people I didn't even know already knew I drove that thing. Weird. But this EM1 just seems like a regular old Civic.

Thoughts?

EDIT: Also, I'm only looking to lower this thing about 2 inches. Any more than that and the suspension geometry gets messed up and starts acting stupid. So I think I might just go with the simple and inexpensive Eibach kit again. Depends on how much money I have laying around by spring.

Those Axis OGs only come in 15x7. And if that's a 15 inch wheel it looks way to small for that car.

Do your stock wheels look too small for your car?

His tires are just too small for the car, it looks perfectly normal when done right. 15 for best performance, 16 for a mix of performance and looks.

EDIT: Also, those mudflaps blend in and make the space look bigger than it really is, giving the illusion that the wheels don't fit good.
