I don't see a Sol without dents every day, either. Yes, the coversion and rims are epic, but the car has problems that mine didn't. I'm really stubborn when it comes to compromises and whatnot, and I despise the idea of fixing things to get where I already was. The Atlanta car will cost fewer dollars to fix the crappy stuff, and that's the bottom line. Plus, it's got CTR pistons and a fresh (like, 1,000 miles) engine. And a tranny with 35,000 fewer miles than mine.

Right now that car has the same wheels as PB's bronze painted ones. Civic HX or something? They're lighter than most, whatever they are.
Yep, from the Civic HX, and the weigh 11lb.

I just have the crappiest tires in the world on them, and the front right one keeps losing air.

My car is worth a tad over $6,100 to the insurance company. Awesome. But insurance companies tend to keep deductables unless you bitch incessantly, so I can only expect about $5,600. Still, that's a hundred more than I paid for it and a hundred more than the Georgia car I want. But my dad has to fill out some power of attorney papers before we can get all the money, because the appraiser lady is withholding $1,200 until that's completed. So I won't have all the money for like 2 weeks. Whatevs.

Recent shots of my collection. I hate cold weather. =(

I've never seen some of those before. Very awesome. 👍

EDIT: I'm guessing those 3 spoke fan shaped wheels are great for brake cooling. Functional wheels FTW!!

I went for a test drive of an '87 CRX today.

But it was showing it's age. Only 135,000km on the clock, but everything rattled. Nice sound system though. It had a front strut brace, 16" wheels, and an air filter which sucked hard, but it was only a 1500cc so wasn't that impressive. Standard exhaust, but it sounded quite nice.

Anyway, it rattled hard, the brakes were shot, and my bike doesn't fit in very nicely so it'll be staying with it's current owner for a bit longer. :indiff:

Actually, a few of those wheels have brake cooling in mind. ;) Like the White Aero Disc covered ones to the right of the 3-spokes. ;)

Those 3 spoke were just very obvious.

EDIT: What do you guys think of Brembo blanks and Satisfied Gransport GS5 pads?

I think the pads are pretty good, operating temp from 100-850 degrees, but I'm stil; hesitant on the rotors.

I know it's better than getting slotted or drilled, but I don't know if settling with slots is worth the better vane design rust prevention.

I just feel like 15 min of hard braking on a mountain is going to warp the straight vaned brembo blanks in a few months.

My Dragon trip made by blank Raybestos discs squeal, but I didn't feel any warp. They were plenty powerful all the way down the road though, and would've been even better if my rears had been replaced too. The brakes were definitely ready for better tires.

But I kinda liked squealing brakes, even if the squeal wasn't all that bad. I mean, carbon ceramic brakes on Ferraris and Porsches squeal like mad!

Yes, but your car had all-seasons on it. I'm going to be going down mountains with pretty good set of tires on my car.

I hope they hold up. In SCC magazine they did a test with a lancer evo and a impreza, and their brakes reached over 1000 degrees when going down a mountain, and they made sure they didn't do any unnecessary braking.

Their brakes glowed a nice bright orange though. I hope the satisfied pads I plan to get, with an max operating temp of 800 work well enough for anything I can dish out.

I'm sure they will. Evos and STis have an ass load of weight to haul down, and their calipers put much greater force on the discs than ours do. Even though everything about our brakes is smaller I doubt ours go through the same punishment at those big cars that weigh 1000 pounds more than ours.

They sure do. When steel heats up above about 700 degrees it begins to harden tremendously. Car people call it glazing, and in the machining world it's called heat-treating. At that point it's so hard that it doesn't want to wear and it gets very brittle. When I cut hardened steel on my mill I have to use carbide bits, because the steel bits just wear out instantly. And with brakes, your pads will basically go up in smoke and yet not do anything if the discs are well-glazed. The same can happen to drums.

I had a set on another car that would honk. Whenever I backed up and hit the brakes it sounded like a goose in heat. Awesome. :indiff:

The search is on once again. The car in Atlanta was bought and I was told about 3 hours before Doug left to go check it out for me. Foul play or a person who snatched it up before I could?

Remember when you bought your del sol some kid had just left, probably to bug his parents for the rest of the day to buy it for him, and then you snatched it up?

Kharma.

Double post, but it's been a day since I posted that.

Fun in the snow =

It's actually a lot worse than the pictures make it seem. Silver car with white dust doesn't show up well with a camera phone.

Also, all the dirty snow I had caked on my front bumper and side skirts melted off.

EDIT: Oh yeah, my mirrors have been color matched for a month or so now, I don't think I's posted pics.
