i dont really like people like you but thats ok, like you said before, youve got the freedom to, but when you see a form called civics only, and it also simply states not to bash 'em. so thats my 2 cents

its just common sense but if I go into a forum I dont go calling everyone there and idiot because they disagree with me.
I like hondas but I dont dislike people if they dont oh well, but a forum is a forum and if It says no bashing no bashing!!:odd:

Blegh... I don't discriminate period, not against people, not against cars, not against bread toasters or microwaves...

To each his own, I don't like ricers either, but I won't go calling a whole brand name naughty names becuase of it. *shrugs*

hey 9secturbocivic,

you sound like a domestic hater, and I have a problem with that. Either stop talking trash about Domestics, or i'll have to start dissin your rice rocket '9 sec. Turbo Civic'.

Some people like neons and mustangs and vettes and cavaliers and saturns etc some dont . Whats the big deal . this is a hondas thread . Not a why dont you like my car thread. :odd:

Exactly. Now, why don't we all just be nice and talk about hondas, instead of getting into an ultimately futile discussion about whether imports or domestics are "better" than each other. Vette_7t9, if you want to talk about domestics and how they are (in your opinion) "better" than any other type of car, create a "Domestics Only" thread.

sry, but i just have to say this to defend all us import racer people. Here you go Mr. I-wrote-a-novel-about-how-I-hate-Hondas:

uhhhh... wake up, man. i think u got it backwards.

1. American cars will rust out in 10 years. If u don't think so ask my mom, who traded in her 10 year old rusted out P.O.S. Dodge Grand Caravan for a Honda Odyssey.

2. Hondas are, like, the most reliable cars out there (maybe except for toyotas) Don't argue, I read Consumer Reports. Another point: my grandpa's 1975 Honda ATV still has no rust on it. The handbrake is broken, but thats cuz I crashed it into a bush while going about 5000 mph.

yeah i have to agree that some people OVERtune their civics and integras. But who gives about a muffler and some rims (not chrome).

now I have to say this: there are a few good domestics- the Dodge Stealth (really a Mitsu) and the Chrysler Laser. (It talked!!!)

there

It really does no good to argue about which is better because everyone is right
does it matter whether you like a honda or someone likes a mustang??? Besides this is a honda thread leave it a honda thread. Now does anybody have a pic of the Del sol LM from GT2??:odd:

the good ol argument. import vs domestic. i dont care what you have. you race a civic just like you would a viper. me im a import guy. i like my 1g eclipse, and my rx7. i hate dumb a)ss guys driving there moms v6 moose (v6 mustang) and thinkin there fast. i hate dumba)ss kids puttin a muffler on a civic and thinkin there fast. theres too many dumba)sses screwing street racing up. i hate ignorant fools talkin shi)t. you have a cobra good lets race. you have gsx nice lets race. its not about what other people have its what youve dont to your own car. now if you have a ff car and you got a wing on it yes you should be slapped. but its still your car. you can do what you want. domestics dont hate imports just because of some dumba)ss ricers in your area. where not all retards who just got off the fast and the furious boat. there are alot of us who take racing serious. theres nothin better then beattin a fool who thinks he fast with a finely tuned piece of shi)t. i love watchin civics tear up fake muscle. also just cuz you have a muscle car it doesnt mean your fast. dont be demandin respect.

I'm sorry, but I just had to put in my word here. Honda sucks. It always has, and it always will. What I can't stand about Honda is that their cars are trashy and rust out within ten years. What's worse is gimps who can't afford real cars rice these things out and pretend they're fast.

Any given Honda car may be quick on its wheels due to the fact that it's made of recycled beer cans. If it crashes into anything but another Honda at a speed of more than 10mph, it's probably going to be totalled.

My car irl is not a sports car, and I don't intend to do any ricing or make any modifications to it. It's an Oldsmobile Eighty eight with 200 horsepower and a 3.8 liter V6. It does 0-60 in 9.5 seconds. Why is it not a 9 second car? No, it's not inferior to your Civic. My car is made from solid Detroit steel. If anyone were to crash into it, their car would take a lot more damage unless they were say... My friend's 1976 Chrysler New Yorker. My car is also extremely dependable and will not rust out from me using it unless I somehow damage it.

And now, why ricing is pointless. First of all, people put spoilers on their Civics. Why? I have absolutely no clue. They do NOT make your car faster, they DEFINATELY do not look cool, and they do not help with lift. First of all, cars that come with spoilers usually have a use for them. For example, say, the Plymouth superbird. One might notice that the car has a rather large spoiler stock. This is because the car is rear wheel drive, and with the speed that it's hemi engine gives it, it can spin out of control. The spoiler is to weigh down the back end to prevent this from happening. With a civic, the car is front wheel drive. Putting weight on the rear will not help anything at all. It would just be more weight for the car to handle, and might, with the 4 banger engine in those things, slow it down. Another thing... People put those loud annoying mufflers on their riced out cars. "Coffee Can" mufflers as they're called. Those, I assure you, do nothing. At the most, if you put a good muffler on your car, like a glass pack or a flowmaster, you may recieve a 4 to 7 horsepower gain. If your car had TRUE dual exhaust, it might be more, but I assure you, your car does not have true dual if it's a civic or anything new for that matter. With a car like that though, the muffler isn't going to help much because the engine is already doing what probably is the most it can handle.

Now, I respect the fact that someone may own, or even like their Honda car. I respect the fact that they've the freedom to do as they wish for it, and am glad they do, cus freedom is what life is all about. But, I also have the freedom to point out why I believe they suck. Any true sports car needs little modding to be done for it to be quick. So, have fun with your Civics, for you've the right to. But if i were you, I'd save my money for a corvette or a `60s charger or something. =)

Dude, my grandpa drives an Olds 88.

Man this is AWESOME..Too bad 90% of the people who posted on this thread don't really know anything about Honda's..they just know Gt2....tsk tsk

is there any difference between the acura integra type r and the honda integra type r? other than the obvious front end lights

There isn't, asside from the site the steering wheel's on and the fact that the US type R can have 2 different final drive gears. a 4.875 or a 4.4 Stock HP #'s are the same at the crank, not sure about at the wheel's due to exhaust system differences...Redline's the same TQ's the same..etc etc

ok, i know exactly where you're coming from but dude, Toyotas are as reliable as you can possibly get. Look at the Lexus LS400. what year? any. It's one of THE most reliable cars ever built, if not, the number 1. By the way, Lexus is Toyota. Sure, the previas were lemons on wheels, and teh previous gen. celicas weren't too great either, but other than that, Toyota's clean. They have more money in backup reserves than the American big three combined, and that's from good advertising and well built cars with good warrantees.

this is a month old:odd:

Corpulentrix:

What a ridiculous post!

As was said before, your Oldsmobile will rust a lot sooner than any Honda, because Hondas have better rust treatment from the factory. My brother has an '86 Prelude that has some rust around the edges, but it's been driven hard and gone through the salt of 17 Midwest winters. I have a 10-year-old Del Sol without a spec of rust on it.

Sorry, but an Oldsmobile 88 isn't really much of a sports car (but neither is any Civic besides an Si or any Accord besides the V6).

That's utterly ridiculous to say that Hondas get totalled if they crash at more than 10 mph. Go look up some statistics if you're that misinformed. Most Hondas are made 165 miles south of Detroit in Marysville, Ohio. They're made out of steel. Any Honda has more structural rigidity than your Oldsmobile, so the truth is that your car is more likely to bend the frame and get totalled in any accident over 10 mph.

A lot of people would agree that ricing out your car is silly, so there's no need to go on about it just to instigate something.

Now, let's talk about actual build quality. Oldsmobiles are near the bottom in reliability and customer satisfaction. Toyotas and Hondas are at the top by quite a margin (along with Lexus and Acura, of course).

My family isn't a bunch of Honda fanatics. My dad has owned tons of cars. He's owned Corvettes, Cadillacs, Oldsmobiles, Lincolns, Mercurys... Until a couple years ago, the only import he had ever owned was an old Jaguar. He just got really sick of the quality, so last year he bought a used NSX and a used Lexus. They're just better cars. My brother has worked on cars for years. He's owned two Trans Ams, a Corvette, two Camaros and two Preludes. I've had a Firebird, a Ford, two Chevys and a Honda. We've all learned for ourselves. We've all tried all kinds of different cars, and the results are in -- Hondas are better.

Let's talk about the paint on Hondas vs. GM cars. Have you seen what happens to GM cars when you park them in the sun for just a couple summers? Let me look out my window right now... I see 4 cars.

My 1993 Del Sol: Looks brand new after a wash because the factory clear-coat is in perfect shape.
My dad's 1991 NSX: Looks brand new, despite having been wrecked and repainted several years ago.
My brother's 1986 Prelude: Dirty as hell but the paint is holding up
My brother's GF's 1991 Grand Am: Looks like ****. The paint on the hood and trunk has actually bubbled and peeled from being in the sun.

Let's look inside the cars. Del Sol - Great. NSX - great. Prelude - Great. Grand Am - suffers from the ceiling falling in because of crappy glue used to hold the headliner on all GM vehicles in the 80's and 90's.

Let's look under the car. Prelude, Del Sol, NSX - Stock exhaust in good shape. Grand Am - Had to have the muffler replaced, and now the rest of the exhaust is deteriorating and rattling.

Let's start these bastards up.
1986 Prelude Si: 315,000 miles: runs great, only ever replaced spark plugs and a CV joint
1993 Del Sol Si: 140,000 miles: runs great, only problem ever was an ECU burnout that required me yanking the computer out of a 1995 Civic at a junkyard.
1991 NSX: 150,000 miles: like new, never had an engine problem
1991 Grand Am: 180,000 miles: this car is on life support, makes horrible rattling, ticking noises. It has needed several sensors replaced. The Check Engine light never goes out.

These are some pretty limited examples, but to recount the headaches we've had with other cars would take a few hundred pages.

oy you, shut ur mouth! Honda's are much better than US dinosaurs. They never fall aprt, and they never break down. thats why they'r e one fo the best-selling car makes in the world. What abotu the Accord? I'd like to see one US car that is as reliable as one of those!

And I doa dmit, that Civics and CRX's are stupidly modded at times, but the Type R models are proper race-bred. So stop living in the past. it's 2004 now, not 1964!!

now i agree with the spoiler thing. it does weigh down the car. But as 4 u sayin they suck. you may have 200 horses, but thats only so it can haul your big 4000 pound car up the street. ur car may be strongly built compared 2 a honda, however a 1500 lb civic with 200 horses will leave u with nuthin but exhaust. I hope u dont put any mods on ur car, and i sure hope u dont try 2 race it, because the only thing u will beat is possibly an old person that does 40 on the interstate. by the way, i had a friend that hit a deer in a 90 Civic crx doing 70 mph and he is still able 2 drive his car. the only thing it messed up is the radiator. I dought ur car can barely hit 70. Dont go crackin on hondas. They have the longest lasting engines, BODIES, and transmitions. next time u try to put down a car, do the research first, that way u dont look like a fool.

well90% dont. u can have a honda and just say there good because of really good acceleration, the light weight, or simply cuz there nice. but those who take there time like i do to learn everything about a car be4 u get it, really do know hondas are the best. u c i have a 90 accord with a 93 engine with 200 horses,
150 on the flywheel(soon 2 b adjusted), and only weighs 1450 lbs. now ive asked people, "how many horses", there reply, "UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH". They dont know nuthin. but i appreciate all of u who take the time 2 do the research to come to the cunclusion that hondas are the best. So, Thank u all.
