Roof cam are bad, it looks like driving a freightliner, a proper hood view should be place at eye level midway through the windshield and shouldn't be angled too much toward the ground as it distorts (warp) the picture.
The roof cam isn't bad at all. Just because you don't approve of it doesn't mean it's bad, it's all preference. The roof cam isn't angled towards the ground at all. Look at all those shots and you'll see the center of the screen is at or above the horizon line. The view isn't skewed at all. It does seem like the field of view is a touch wider, but that's to help see the front corners of the car to get a better sense of the size of the vehicle.
Those pictures above are definitely roof cams. We can see too much of the hood surface for them to be proper hood cams. If they were hood cams, the perspective would be lower, and we would see very close up reflections at the very bottom of the screen. A hood cam would make the hood of the car look much longer than it is too.
Also, the Stingray picture. That can;t be a hoodview at all. You can see over the top of the wall on the right side of the track, which based on what else we see, looks to be below waist height. If this was a proper hood view, we would not see the top surface of that wall, or underneath that Gran Turismo sign as much as we do. The perspective is higher than the windshield and hood.
As mentioned before, a proper hood view is basically forward of the drivers eye, in front of the windshield and down a bit. If you look for screencaps of F1 2010 and look at the cockpit view, and rollbar view, those 2 should give you a good idea of what sort of difference we would see here between a roof and hood view.
