I see... but the videos you posted just before with the Lambo etc was all from the replay right? cos there was like outside cinematic camera in there too..

Is it still just 4 driveable angles (where Hood replaces Roof)... or is there now 5? (Cockpit, bumper, chase, roof and hood)

Cheers

Yup I will post tomorrow my camera was dying so I just got replay footage but while In game you can pick high hood cam or roof cam. GT5P also had roof cam but no hood cam.

JDMKING13 if you can keep the car still while facing a wall for a few seconds and during gameplay switch through all the camera angles when the car is still. Then do the same during the replay when the car is still. It'll be easy to see that way.

No you can actually pick that view I posted picture with the two views from not replay mode, but in game mode.

@ gejost that looks like the same camera view for the SLS.

Notice in the SLR video how the hood fills the entire screen and beyond. This is not the case in the SLS video, it's more zoomed out, with quite some space between the hood and the edges of the screen. The camera is not as close to the hood as in the SLR video. To me it seems somewhat between a roof and hood view.

Edit: You know what, after watching the SLR video again, the camera doesn't seem that close to the hood either (as I thought). Probably depends on what car you drive. I don't know, I'm going to wait and see. :)

👍 Gotcha.

Sick. That's what I wanted to hear!

Hoping the hood view will make it to the final version as it will be perfect for standard cars :D

No doubt man I got you, BTW I love your profile picture. When I played college football I remembered playing Louisville, and it was so cold that night that all the boys where saying " I Cant Feel My Face!"

Don't know if you saw this but, this is from actual game play of two car i got photos of. Like i said i will get some photos of the same car with high hood cam and roof cam.

This is Gameplay and that's the only view you get in the gameplay either roof or hood depends on the car , the other cams you are talking about are just in the Replay. That was the case in GT5p and all other Demo Builds. And Yamauchi said it was just 4 Gameplay views.

So you really think that just because we can't see the roof of a car, even though the camera is in the same spot, it's suddenly a hood cam. Well, we can see the dash in the cockpit cam, so I assume you think that's the dash cam then right?

I'm not gonna argue anymore about this, it's hopeless. I'll just post my proof when I generate it.

All I am saying is to him and I the camera looks like it is almost flat on the hood of the Motul (anyone can see that) infront of the windshield at hood level, this is why I think it is a hood view.

Why are you assuming, we haven't even discussed interior view.

Watching the video it still looks like GT5P. Cockpit,bumper,hood/roof, and chase. It just seems like the roof views and hood views are the same preset but different vantage points or pd wasn't sure what would look best. I don't know.

While in replay just like GT5P you have two roof views. One is a regular view and the other has a fish eye effect that is why you can see the whole front end of the car hood, roof, and windshield.

Edit: JDMKING don't forget if you can get about 10 seconds of a side view of being stopped and rolling of the wheels.

He doesn't have to stop. Just let the view remain for several seconds before switching. As long as changing wouldn't mess him up such as during a turn.

And every view is fine. Well, except for cockpit view, it's not right. ;)

Just got back from GS and i was wrong i am sorry I guess it is only still roof cam however sometimes it just shows the hood. That hood view is only during replays :guilty: Sorry for the mess up. Sorry Falango, what has me puzzled is why have the view for the Autech GTR and a different one for the Nascar. I will post up video as soon as they upload 👍

Wait... so there is no hood view at all during actual driving? :ouch:

This is the view some cars get,

I guess some cars get this hood cam, but it is actually like Falango explain its still a roof cam but just lower, while some cars get the view as the Nascar. those pictures are actually me doing a actual lap and stopping to take a picture.

Since it is just a crappy Sony LCD - 2006 model if I recall well - this looks bloody fantastic.. My God at the overal resolution, detail and shadings of stone cubes in the Rome (I presume it is Rome).

I only say that to make a point. I know we aren't discussing interior views here.

Alright, I tried to figure out the positioning of the cameras. Used your pics JDMKING13, thanks for taking those! They aren't perfect for my test, but they worked well enough to get a good idea of where these cameras are placed. Looks like PD is sticking to a 35mm camera based on what I've tested.

No prop man I will take more, my bad though your were right there is only some type of roof cam view however, it shows differently on different cars. I will try to get you more pictures.

Ya I think so too. My assumption is the camera views are in the exact same spot in relation to the cars center point in 3D, with variable height based on the height of the vehicle. I highly doubt they would fully reposition over 1000 cameras for one view, lol. If you can get more pics, that would be perfect. Preferably on a dead flat straight, from right in the center of the track. That way I can use the edges, curbs, and barriers to line everything up easily.

Gotcha should I go on Indy, is that track flat on the straights?

Ya that would be perfect! Indy will actually give me a way better idea of what the focal length of the cameras is too.

Done. When I go out I will get every car for you on Indy. If my wife gets home soon I will get them today If not tomorrow defiantly. 👍

You mean every camera right? Think you could sit the car in one place when you take all the pics? That way, I'll be able to get a perfect position of the bumper cam too. Only way I can determine the bumper cam is if the car is sitting in the same spot for every angle. You'll see why :D

No problem 👍

Ughh my wife is out shopping with my little girl so i'm going to get you the pictures tomorrow.

I'm one of the few people who doesn't mind the Hood View. I found it helpful for rally racing in Gran Turismo 4. It is a good camera view to use even if you don't have any interior views to rely on. I know interiors are important to a lot of racing fans, but a hood view is just as impressive. It may not be a popular opinion, but hood views are just as good as interiors. Of course... you can debate with me at will. So fire away. Not my first rodeo on GTP...

Hood view is the next best view after cockpit (I assume it is the same as bonnet view) You get a good field of vision and a good sense of speed. Third person view is my least favourite although I like it sometimes purely to admire the car 👍

I have not seen hoddview hated on very much at all... in fact it was my view of choice before cockpits became common. It gives you a good sense of where you car is, a good field of view and ties you into the motion of the car well without the painfully low range of view that a low bumper cam gives.

In fact some people prefer it cockpit view for specifically the reason it has many of the benefits without the whole redudant wheel in front of you (obviously only applicable to those of us who race with wheels).

So I just walked to GS and I got those pics for you Falango 👍 I will post up a few.

Hahah cheers mate

yeah sweet, if we can see the same car with the 2 different views that will be awsome.

Edit: just saw the pics you posted above, gg, to me man that looks like roof view but PD made it a bit lower having the bonnet fill up the width of the screen...
