Interesting - Bumper cam is higher than cockpit?!
Where do you see that? In the prologue "bumper" cam is centered and positioned on the windshield, at the same height of the cockpit cam.
(I think it's the same in these pics)

Where are the gauges in bumper view?????? It looks like the roof view on the 458 is at the rear of the roof weird!

Yes the 458 has a very weird view looks better in motion though.

So where are the gauges in the other shots of the bumper view with all the cars?

Its replay mode so I took them off for him to see better, but I left one up just in case he needed it.Those are the actually the only views besides 3rd person view.

long time reader, first time poster here..hey all....so i dont get it..one minute we seem to have both roof and hood view...then its just hood view. are they the only in game views apart from the third person ones jdmking?

Deffo want hood view.

I have no idea what retard at PD thought the "laying on the roof" view was useful vs a proper hood one.

It's nice to have many views of course, for personal preference, but bonnet view is THE staple view before any other, imo, alongside the always expected behind car view :D

To have added interiors, bumper cam, laying on roof retard cam, and still have no bonnet cam, is a bit poor.

There's cockpit view, bumper cam, chase cam, and 2 roof cams (1 of them only for replay).

One build showed a hood cam but we never saw it again.

... what retard at PD ...

...on roof retard cam...

Ever heard of legal case that movie Tropic Thunder has with people that are challenged this way or another?

No? I thought so.

No matter, usage of word "retard" is against common moral principles here, so maybe you shoud reconsider the usage of words that describe people on insulting way to somebody else.

im not going to use any specific words, but you do really have to question the mental health of an entire team of designers that makes a decision to first include a vital pov for racing, and then make the decision to exclude it. Im really looking forward to gt5 but its one of those things where every time i find something to get excited about, i find 2 things that seem a bit sour. the lack of hood cam AND interior cam on standard cars is definately one of those...i could live with one or the other...but its a bit of a sour tart to do without both and have to deal with less useful povs like roof cam and third person. :(

All we can do is hope for a hood view. Judging by some of the cars it looks like it is a hood view. Like I said earlier maybe they have been playing with the reference point and hadn't decided on the final mounting point of the camera. Thats the way it looks to me anyway.

Less useful to you, perhaps...

Many of us find cockpit cam to be useless, because it looks like your chin is below the top of the dashboard, and too far back. Who drives like that? :sly: But, many like it, so what the heck. The obvious choice for me and others like me is to...

Not use it. An elegant and simple solution, rather than to bellyache about it since no one is going to change their minds anyway.

What needs to be done is to place four driver view positions: front, chase, roof and cockpit, and make them all completely adjustable, as far as location and fixed or floating behavior. This way, everyone is happy, no one wastes board space grouching uselessly about it, and we all get the drive of our lives.

If they got rid of the all the cockpits and added a hood view for all of the cars. (If they don't already have it) I would be fine with that. Don't get me wrong, I love the cockpits and I'm alright with the roof, but the hood, that's what I'd use.

I'm actaully almost on board with that... I prefer the cockpit view by far myself but it's better to have uniformity across the board... I really don't envy the though of having to switch back and forth between cockpit view and roof cam... it will totally screw up my feeling of where the car is in the game and wreak havoc with spotting breaking points and maintaining a relative feeling of speed between cars.

This is of course without stating the obvious that I would much prefer cockpit view across the board :)

It will be strange. I haven't played any past GT's since I started playing Prologue and switching from Cockpit to roof or bumper view even in Prologue takes some getting used to. So yes braking lines and corner entry and exit is affected.

So I'm about to do a bit more work on that camera placement stuff when I saw this. This pic was posted last page by JDMKING13.

THIS is a roof cam 100%. Reason why I know is because I actually started building this car in 3D and can tell you the center section of the roof is a bit lower in the center. Also, you can see the side mirrors. This roof cam is very close to the roof, about halfway back (maybe a bit further back), and we can't even see the hood. The hood on this car is radically different from the roof, and would be very evident. I'm very curious to see where the camera sits in comparison to each of the 3 cars you posted!

Updated my thread about the camera views. Nothing new about the roof cam, but got a pretty solid position for the bumper cam.

Like he said this is in replay mode. There is two roof cameras in replay mode. One view looks just like gameplay and the other (this one) is a fisheye effect and it is supposed to look more real like a real onboard camera of a race car. I don't know if you have GT5 Prologue but it is the same in that game as it is here.

Oh right, forgot about that.
