I just hope the PC system requirement aren't too beefy. I don't need 4K, I'll enjoy 1080p but I hope my GTX 980 can crank graphical detail to the max.

I wrote on the other topic that the pc's used on E3's showfloor, they run the game at 4k@30hz, and are using a single 980ti

I supposed that's good news then. Since I don't aim for 4K, I should be able to do 60FPS, maxed-out. These first console to PC games aren't always the most optimized, but we'll see.

how much performance are you getting out of forza apex?
also, because its capped 30 at 3e, that does not equal that its the limit of the particular h/w
I guess its capped at 30 primarily so as to not look different than xbox.

One thing I am not happy with all the guys @E3:

I have seen DOZENS of videos, and they all run where the line is.
I have yet to see even one video that player FORGETS the racing line and does a u-turn and goes exploring the new areas. out-of-road preferably
If anybody has seen such a video, please share

edit:
Not sure if DLC across all platforms has been confirmed but seeing as both editions can be bought with pre-order bonuses + a season pass, that seems almost certain! ;)
it seems highly unlike that I wont have my car pass and vip badge on w10 version and only on xbox.
anyway, 5 days before release many people will be able to answer this, all those with digital ultimate version.

Everything in the Xbox One version will be available on the PC version... With the addition of 4k textures and capability of running at 60fps.
I actually hope that the XBOne will be 60fps too. They did unlock an extra core last year.

I found the performance of Apex to be nice enough, but I'm hoping for more optimization in FH3 since this is their first title releasing on both platforms at launch.

may I suggest you put your hopes towards something that has more chances of happening, like world peace?
still open world game, 2x the size of previous. there is no single core in the world that could pull such magic :)

if I was to guess, I'd think that running horizon 3 at the same framerate as forza apex will be significantly more workload for the same h/w.
of course I dont know whether the game will offer sliders to ease gfx load, but then I think that running it in settings below the xbox one detail settings, it kind of defies the purpose.
also keep in mind that physics and controls both run not at just 30hz or 60hz, but on good multiples of that, as all forza games do.

They could lower the resolution. Frame rate is way more important to me than ultimate graphics.

It's also kinda ridiculous that my new console I payed a lot for can't do what PCs at similar prices could do before it was even released.

they've got it setup like this:
forza motorsport runs @60hz, closed tracks, precision
forza horizon runs @30, open world, fun
each iteration some stuff makes the transition both ways. so they both gain.
what you ask for is the destruction of this fundamental rule. no dice.

what you ask for is the destruction of this fundamental rule.
No, what I'm asking for is more priority given to frame rate. The only reason the game would not run 60 would be that the graphics level would take all the power. It is in no way a fundamental rule simply as a result of the game being free roam.

hey man, both games set benchmarks on their gfx feats.
fm runs @1080/60 and never misses or tears a frame with 24 cars on screen under any circumstance,
fh runs @1080/30 and never misses/tears a frame under any circumstances everywhere inside an open world.

think about these things for a while. both are bigger achievements in framerates than you think.
and again, both games have their physics and controls run at not 30 or 60 but 300hz.

ok, name your favorite open world fully customizable car racing game with destruction that runs on a solid 60hz.
and you can even use the more powerful current console too as a pool to draw examples from.
...
I suggest again that instead you wish for world peace because more feasible

btw, my contribtion to this topic:

Driver San Francisco and burnout paradise are nice examples.

Either way, the cross play feature is making me want to get a gaming PC. I've been wanting to get one for other games, this is like the final push really.

microsoft stating that practically ALL their games will be based on this play anywhere thingy, sure makes the decision for a console gamer to get a rig easier. but also, a -what seems very sufficient- next xbox is right around the corner.
the choices seem to be there, its up to user preference. whatever you choose, you cant go wrong for playing forza :)
but dont think that horizon in 30hz will be bad. I often switch between fh2 and fm6 and its not as bad as one would believe, I think also higher rate of inputs/physics help a lot in that.
fh2 feels very swift and I really doubt that h3 will not be at least equal if not improved

Eh, not the case for me, really. It was never the games that stopped me from getting a rig, but the sheer price and constant upgrading(not so constant really, but compared to a console, I would say so) that has swayed people in the direction of consoles.

A game that has a locked FPS, be it 30 or 60, will always look great. The visual difference is not that noticeable, but if you switch back to FM, than the difference will be apparent. Not a bad thing though. All Forza games have ran flawlessly.
