Hosts, how are you dealing the 2.10 update?

The last few days have been a little chaotic in my PP limited room.

Many of the FR cars now have hundreds of HP more than they used to at 450 and 425PP. My Mercedes 190 evolution now has 361hp at 425PP compared to C30 volvo, which is heavier and only has 215HP – this is more fair?

I have had several regulars say they have had it with online racing – I am tired of talking people off of the ledge.

What are you doing, if anything, as a host to keep your rooms fun and competitive?

Tonight I took an unprecedented step and I have banned FR cars from my room.

Most people didn’t even notice (the FR cars don’t appear in your garage) – only one person left because of the ban.

My room finally filled up for the first time again after the update.

I want PD to fix this but for now I gotta do what I gotta do – NO FR cars in my room.

Edit: I am now running a FR-OK room for a while - and Banning FR cars at about 10:30 PM Central time (US) That is what I like to call "Itegra Time"

The update change the pp limit on some cars especially since some were unfair and to me felt pd were playing favourites, its now more honest.
Except the fact theres a 602pp car in a 600pp race (super gt)

I did the same and banned FR cars. Without FR it's still good and close racing. Unfortunately I had to rejoin later yesterday and the new host allowed FR again. It took 2 races till it was only chaos with all the speed differences, so I'm quite sure now banning FR is the way to go.

PD changed the PP limit so I'm sure they won't be changing it anytime soon. I guess you gotta live with banned FR cars in your lobby.

it seems though that FR cars have lost some PP some cases its honest some cases it's cruel

maybe do a BHP limit instead till it blows over

I would think this is the way to go now...and a weight limit too. I know it can get really specific, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Kind of drastic measures you are taking here but I can definatly understand where you are coming from. Its a shame we have to do stuff like this just because of PD's stupidity. Good luck with your rooms and hopefully PD comes out with a fix.

You can run drivetrain specific races kinda like the beginner a spec series. FF race, FR race, K car, 80's japanese cars. It may inspire more specific racing groups which could be a positive development. Just look at the grand am/alms merger to see how hard competitive balancing is. Opening up the garage of 1100 cars and setting a generic pp level never was that effective anyhow. I always tried to set up very concise regulations to create close racing before such as fwd k cars or stock miatas or 91-95 japanese sports cars at 276hp. Its fun when all the cars on track make sense together and are close performance wise. Then make the better drivers take the slower cars and vice versa and the racing is tight and there are new winners each race. Max fun

It looks like to me you have several options.

1) Power and Weight limits

2) Sports and Comfort tires to make the 650+HP FRs nearly undriveable for most people. If someone does win in a high-powered FR despite this, they deserve it anyway.

3) Completely overreact, ban all the awesome FR cars to leave just a handful of MRs, a Yellowbird, a BTR, a RGT, a bunch of AWDs and a lot of FF understeering crapboxes to use.

4) Deal with it and join the high-powered FR car users. 600HP and upwards isn't all that hard on Racing Softs. (which everyone will continue to use until the end of time  ) Certainly not 500HP and under.

Personally I like the 2nd option I listed.

tyre restrictions would work for higher pp but when i do low pp races and force sports tyres. my car becomes unresponsiv even FF and 4WD

i just like racing and getting at high speed and tackling corners. comfort do OK but sports for some reason make my cars unresponsive. i do manage to win with them at times though

Yesterday I had a noFR 550 room all day, it was great fun. There where lots of different cars winning, often several different cars close together fighting for the victory.

NoFR 550 roadcars is even better balanced than 550 before the patch. There are the NSX-R Prototype Road Car and the Saleen S7 which are way too quick, but everything else is within a reasonable range, so the driver can make the difference.

I've been host for maybe 50 times - room always called Dalton Banden MC (my mc-club IRL)
1½ year ago I made 10 PP-classes (370-425-460-490-525-580-620-650-680-710) and since then tested all my 700 cars in all classes, they can join, mostly 4 per car.

I do tests on Trial Mountain, at least 5 rounds per car.
It's appr. 13.000 laps on T Mo for all 700 cars
Then I list the cars i a Word doc. on the pc - 35 A4 pages...

When I was finished 2 weeks ago, the update came.... and crashed all my work, due to new pp-calulations (as they call it).

Complete nightmare to adjust 2/3 of all cars according to update changes - and I'll have to test around 500 cars again.

The update seems not to be very well considered.. close to idiotic..
Many of the cars which now can get 100-200 more hp, were among the fastest in the classes before update..
Now they're insanely quicker and almost useless to use in order to get close race.
Worst examples seen so far are 190E, RUF 3400S

What to do ? Don't know, besides that I always choose my car after what the others have choosen, not to be sure to win, but to get close race.

Won't put on bad tires - always uses Race Soft and no limits at all, besides pp

I've been adjusting cars for 3 days in a row (+20 hours used) and is half way through all 700, starting from the top. Now at 525 pp.

My hope is that many cars will get just as more hp, as the 190E & 3400S, so that fair races can be done in the future too... but I'll have to wait and see, until I get trough some retesting of the 500 cars.. pyhhh...

My hope is always that they don't change the pp again within 6 months and again crashes my testwork...

Dalton Banden MC-room usually open on fridays from 21 PM

Guess I'll have to make a new lowest class, as mostly cars to be adjusted can get more hp - or will have to relegate to a lower class.

Many in the lowest class (370), could before update just reach 370 pp, which might not be the case after update, so a 340 pp class might be nessesary

ALL my cars are ment to join at least one of my pp-classes

I've done tests (incl lists with laptimes) and matchmaking since GT2.. and it has worked perfectly, in order to do close races.

Before GT2 & PS it was Commodore Amiga (F1-simulation & rallygames), starting in 1994.. never get tired of it :)

Close racing is fun but from my experirence it just gets someone hitting another person by accident and getting kicked when they mean no dirty racing, however this is from my experience yours could be different

 I love this gif.

As the OPer (is that correct?) I reached a compromise last night. I ran for a while with no FR ban, but then it was Integra Time! And the ban went into place.

I think it went well - the room was still full when I left.

If you guys are worried about the rules for the cars do what my leagues doing, down below.

In my opinion it depends on how close the cars are, in type, year.
TC RC cars & roadsters (MX5 vs S2000) have caused many problems and arguing for months for me and my friends (because knowing them IRL too, and doing mail war after hard close clash-races).

Too avoid hating each other after races, we've practiced close match with slightly different cars, though it's hard to generalize about that, cause we've tried the most and have had good races with all types of match.

Race among non-RC cars seems to reduce hate and smashing each other on track.

Woah this jumped out at me. Good luck with that lot.

Good job there's no dedicated leader board system in place. It would have been wiped and reset numerous times since launch.

I just get the feeling that they haven't got a clue what there doing. Just stabbing in the dark.

Super / there you see.. an FF rules the pack. It's not just FR's getting boosted. The MR, RUF S3400 proves it too - it gains a lot of hp with the update and was allready the fastest RUF with 425 pp.. Itś the only RUF's to get boosted, changed due to update

Hundreds of other cars get roughly boosted too.. 2/3 of all mine have to be adjusted, boosted. Maybe 5 % gets less hp with the same pp.

New goldhitters will appear, I guess.. Some Old US cars gets 2-300 extra hp with the same or lower pp :dunce:

Thx.. It'll take some months. Still have a lot of tested cars, ready to online use, those who don't need adjustment

It might seem crazy with the new pp, per ex 190E now 3-4 sec faster than the previous fastest 425 pp car (out of appr. 200 425 pp's).
But a lot of cars get a lot of extra hp's, so maybe it'll even out anyway, in some way.. we'll see 💡
