First car I posted is a 61 Brookwood longroof. 283, 2bbl carb and a powerglide. Claims 19mpg lol.

White Nova was a 375 horse 396, 4 speed, 12 bolt, 3.90 gears. I know he used that car at the drag a lot, he claims low 13s. Not bad for a street car in the early 80s.

Red 70 Chevelle was an SS396, 4speed, 12 bolt. Picture from 77 or 78. Claims it was really slow.

Monte Carlo was an 85, purchased new. I'll ask him to scan the article.

79 Malibu was a 283 I believe? California smog kinda choked this one. I know he used it in the snow when it was in Oregon too.

Dark Blue 72 Nova was a 396, 4 speed, 12 bolt with 4.88 gears. Super Chevy Best Modified Nova, 1988. I think theres an article on this one too.

69 Firebird 350, TH400.

71 Elco, 396, 4 speed, 4.56 gears in a 12 bolt. This was his 3rd car while still in high school.

I say, there are family car stories and there's your family car story, @Heldenzeit. Your father sure had his fair share of great rides...

That's the true list of a muscle car enthusiast, plenty of great stories must hide beneath all those cars.

@Heldenzeit I kinda really want to be your brother now. I loooooooooo -breath- oooooooove the absolutely slammed Firebird, that kind of stance wasn't common at all in the era of big raked rears. When was that photo taken?

Seeing some of these pics make me wonder if it would be worth going through the hell to get my grandfather to part with either his project '48 F-100 or his his '62 Galaxie with (I think) a 352 since he uses his finished '56 F-100 and '62 Galaxie with a 292 most of the time. If nothing else, I could at least possibly put one of them back on the road.

Hahahaha. Early 80s I believe.

His current crop of cars is an 01 Silverado Z51 quad cab short bed, 06 Dodge Magnum SRT8 (daily) and a 55 Chevy 2 door wagon gasser.

August 2010 issue of Hot Rod I believe.

Oh yeah, this sits in the garage at my grandparents. Technically my moms, but dad built it. 383 small block, 700R4, 100 shot of nitrous. Runs 12.05s in the quarter.

ASJGFDSGFFJDKG SOOOOOOO YOU WERE THE GUY!!!!!! :0

The other day I remembered someone posting that impossibly bad-ass thing a couple years ago claiming it was their dad's but for my life I could not remember who it was. Never in my mind crossed that it was you! We really need to talk. Over to our never ending conversation, please.

Yeah we need to talk about this too.

Dude, I love the stance in all of them, the Chevelle looks perfect. I also love the simple but brutal steelies in the Nova. The Impala (Biscayne?) is flawless too

Heh, guess the car oil still runs in your father's veins; with that sort of cars, it should be expected. Dig the Magnum, I always had a soft spot for both it and the 300C; I know they are heavy as all heck, but they just ooze personality. SRT8's are the cream of the crop.

And he sold all of those I assume?
Yeah. Sold the blue Nova to buy my moms wedding ring. Had the white/blue Malibu in the 90s as well as a 71 El Camino. Mostly had Grand Prix GTP company cars in the early 2000s before he bought the Magnum.

The 55' was bought at the Pomona swap meet for $2500 in 2001 I think. Took 9 years to restore, which he did in the family garage. Originally a six cylinder car.

Man, you could write a whole book based on the cars your father owned. From big engines to selling them to pay for your mother's ring, you have it all. :)👍

So, some records are missing. Well, there's still enough material to tell a good story. Here's hopes that your father can enjoy the cars he owns, in the best way possible.
Thanks! He still drives the hell out of them (he's only 57). The 55 has gone through 3 different transmissions due to 7k RPM powershifts. You think he would learn.

The guy down the street from me has a Charger, but I'm not sure of the year (I think it's a '68 or a '69). However, only a few people know that he owns it, and instead, his house is called Rangerville because he has 3 or 4 Ford Rangers that he and his family own.

From an 11:1 427 no less (no, my memory isn't as good, I read the article lol). Oh hell yeah.

And, er, dude, I know it's gonna sound way cliche and all that trash, but how come after growing up with such a dad did you end up in the jdm side of things? I remember you had a Vette, but still, I'd figure you'd ride around in a big-block Olds by now instead of a Miata with Sakuras in the dashboard.

Guess he doesn't learn. Maybe it's the old age, haha.
My grandfather is into his 70s, and whenever he drives his '56 F-100 (with mildly built SBC), he always punches it out on straightaways. Hell, he squealed the tires a while ago in a measly Buick Lacrosse just because my dad said that he knew it was my grandfather just from the slow driving. I would have never thought that the Buick could even do that until my grandfather shown that it could be done.

First car was a 92 Camaro RS 5 speed, then I had the C4. I drove a friends Miata and was blown away by how it drove. I still like USDM, just kinda burnt out on the older cars as I've almost seen everything. I would always go to shows with dad and always see the same cars. That being said, I want another Corvette. I miss the power.

My next car needs to be a wagon though. Sick of borrowing my grandparents PT Cruiser.

That's not the "old man in a Buick" stereotype I know... Guess even a random normal car can bring out the beast of a veteran driver...

Well that sounds interesting lol, mind replicating your dad's 61?

Altough I remember in your car's thread that you wanted a Mercedes (:

Yeah, I'm looking at W124 300TEs. Just about as common as Chevrolets here. Once the air shocks blow up in the rear I'll lower it like the 61. :sly:
