My dad had a couple Monte Carlos back in the day.

Lucky sod, that's quite cool. What sort of Monties did your dad own, if you don't mind me asking?

Also, that "Popular Cars" SS is beautifully understated-looking. Simple modifications can go a long way...

He had this red car plus a black 80's aero coupe. I can't seem to find any pictures of that unfortunately. The car in the magazine article is the same as the color picture I posted.

Love that Ventura. Wish I had pics of the one my dad had. His had a 283 in it that in his words "screamed like a son of a bitch".

They didn't put 283's in Venturas. Heheheheheh.

Ah, that's a shame, but thanks for clueing me on that nonetheless. Also, I did eventually realize that the red Montie is the same car of the magazine, based on the rims (which are awesome, by the by, being 'Vette rims) alone.

But wait, your dad IS the owner of that red Montie?

Holy raised Chevy, Batman! That's one mad Bel-Air (?) right there.

Hardly subtle compared to the Montie, but nothing wrong with that, sometimes all you want is pure muscle...

Haha, an "old porno mag under the shag carpeting", that's great.

But I guess all of this is to be expected when you have a hot-rod dad in the family, huh? He seems to be that sort of guy wh loves to get busy with all sorts of car projects...

Also, dat 427 is a monster of an engine block.

His next project is a 70-71 Z28 Camaro for my step-mother to drive. Mild small block, AC, nice interior/paint. Hopefully I'll have pics of that soon too.

Please do, I'm sure people would enjoy seeing a less-wild build for a change. As I said, nothing wrong with going wild, but sometimes less is also better. And I hope that the project will go as smoothly as possible.

May I ask, could you also show me those pics when you can?

Not sure what "REO" means... but what does that leave? SRT-4s/Cobalt SSs/Ford STs? Fieros? Bro trucks? Muscle cars are all America really does. Our heritage kinda sucks, and I think our closed-mindedness has been what's kept us from creating sports cars that can honestly hold up against them foreigners.

Personally, I always thought "imports" was a bad name for a thread, considering how global our membership is. There should be threads for 'the Americas', 'Europe/Australia', and 'Asia'... but we've come too far already.

Well, here's a 1931 REO Royale...

...but they also made the Speed Wagon, which lent its name to a band of note.

Anything American, it doesn't have to be modified at all, and can even be a vehicle on Chrysler's K platform, of which I know at least one user on these forums is fond of.

The REO above certainly isn't a hot rod, nor is it modified in any way discernible, but it's purely American.
