Well went to Wal Mart today, didn't think I would be buying anything there, but I did.

Yet another Sharkruiser to add to my collection and a Mini Cooper for customizing.

I can never get enough of them Mini Coopers, brings back memories from my early days of collecting. I was thinking about doing a simple wheel swap with it but it has chipping paint all over the roof, paint spots in certain places and the headlights are painted out of proportion. So I am just going to strip it and give it a new color. :D

Looked at the 3 packs and I found one of them 3 packs with the other Infiniti in it, several to be exact. Would have bought it but I would literally have to count pennies to get it since I am running dangerously low in cash. Didn't see the Ford Falcon, probably wasn't looking in the right place. Man I love 3 packs! :D

I swear, my Wal Mart is trolling me. They get all the good ones that I care about, everything from them blue Civics, to the Custom 69 Chevy, a bunch of zamacs and many other vehicles I like just when I am low in cash, but when I have all the money I need, they are never there. :grumpy:

I think he meant "Cooper."
That's possible.

Separate post, and I want you guys to have a look at this when you have a moment - especially you guys that asked about storage. This is just the first part, there will be more to come.

Photography, Customising, Buying & Selling (as in 'investing'), and even Racing are all options when it comes to collecting. Storage isn't.
Uhuh.
Storage comes hand in hand with collecting. If you collect, you have to store it.

Now, not all of us are made of money; not everybody here, I bet, can just go online and fire off an order for $100.00 worth of storage bins. Crikey - if we had that kind of money we'd pick up a Tamiya, a couple of Kyoshos, several M2s and Greenlights and a bunch of HWs, too.
Spend money on storage? Wut?
In fact many of you are probably on allowances, or part-time jobs while going to school and now you have this craze to hunt and gather HWs like picking berries off the patch - but where to put them?
Probably some rather annoyed parents out there, too.
So to reduce the stress on the parents out there and give you guys some ideas at the same time as to how to manage your collection - here goes:

First - some tips on 'Procurement'.
To 'procure' stuff is basically to acquire or 'get' it - but in this case we are going to think of it as 'getting stuff for free'.
Not stealing it, or even borrowing it - just procuring it legally. And Free. (If not freely -sometimes these things are hard to procure.)
You have to start brushing up on your social skills if you are going to be a 'procurer'. Practise smiling as less creepily as possible for several days in front of the mirror - make suitable speeches such as : "Hey, how you doing? Gorgeous day, ain't it?' Practise sending lots of 'peace, love & forgiveness' vibes at them.
The vibes are optional, but apparently they help.
Once you got that down pat, go visit some stores - electronic stores, grocery stores, hardware stores, and get chipper with the staff. Chipper as in making eye-contact, and the aforementioned 'peace, love, hi awesome' ritual and asking questions, not taking a chisel to them. Investigate the box situation and if they are throwing boxes out start grabbing.
You may build your own layout.
Here is my 18 inch by 24 inch 'main' or base tray that will hold all the other layers. Three of these will fit under a bed and can be taken out easily, trays taken out and examined quickly, and everything put back quickly if needed. It also keeps the cars organised in the sub-sets you may be collecting. This box formally contained a surround sound system. Flat panel TV boxes are great base trays - and you will have a lid, too. Smaller trays are fun to find - look for flat trays that contained yogurt, or pop cans, etc.
Just don't pluck the trays out of the grocery clerk's hand. Ask; they normally are glad to get rid of the garbage.

Here is the base layer of cars:

Now I start to stack in trays. Some trays can sit on cars (if they aren't too heavy) otherwise try to find trays that will sit on the sides of the lower trays, so that it is cardboard sitting on cardboard and there is no weight on the cars.
So the two smaller boxes on the left now added. More cars, too! these boxes can hold as many as 250 loose cars.

And another layer added. You will also notice that I have the cars in sub -sets - and they are all American (mostly) muscle. So when I need American muscle I dive into this box - or if I come back after buying some American muscle I can locate this box right away - and put the new cars where they need to go right away.
You may have also noticed that these are all Mainlines - basic models from a variety of makers.

Two more box-trays go on the third layer. Obviously if you are rich enough all this can be substituted with the right sized plastic containers. For now, we're poor, we rather spend the money on cars, and we're practising smiling less creepily being a procurer. We're trying to work on free and effective storage that will enable us to get 1000 cars under our bed.

And a final layer (Chargers and Challengers):

Put a lid on this, shove it under your bed, and it disappears from sight; this way it doesn't remind anybody that you've not done your homework.

If only they saw you practising in front of the mirror, eh?

Have a good one, guys.

I'm gonna be looking around for that Midnight Otto. Thanks for the help guys. đź‘Ť

I picked these up tonight:

Just a weird haul. All cars I decided not go after in the past. Disney Cars GT One & 240Z, I found cheaper this time(Walmart). Archie "Sweet Streets", I'm into HW Ice Cream Truck right now & this scheme's nice. Auto World Camaro, I wanted the red one, but never could find one locally & didn't want it bad enough to pay the markup + shipping. Weird.

If you ever want to get rid of the Cars "GT-1", let me know., @a6m5. Great wheel donors.
Or don't get rid of it and custom paint it like a real GT-one with all the "Cars" features still there!

(Sorry Cano, I'll shut up and let you have the wheels)

Well, I'm back from being dastardly sick, so those are some awesome cars everyone has found. :)

I'm mad to see that someone has found some Firebirds. :P

I just noticed that my local supermarket had a green Mastretta in today.

Will go tomorrow and see if its there. If it is, I'll post photos.

If it was a Pagani I'd have got it straight away

It looked similar to the 'Strettas with the shape of the lights, angles and rear wing but as I say, I'll see exactly what it is tomorrow. I only got a quick glimpse of it.

It's Quick N Sik. I make that mistake all the time myself.

Damn. Both great tips. đź‘Ť

I wasn't ready to spend so much money on hot wheels after that TLV Skyline Sihouette, but couple of interesting Tomica Limited Vintage came up cheaper, CONSIDERING, so I had to shell out the dough. So I have two more packages from Japan, but one from eBay, another from that Plamoya. By pure coincidence, they both have same gas station signage.

I'll leave it at that. :D
I went to Kmart today, and they had the same old crap they did when I was there several months ago. :grumpy:
Same here for me last night. I was hoping to find @commodoreben some cars, including that Mexican car, but this particular Walmart I hit had old cars I hadn't seen in a long time. Sorry, Ben.
