True, but then you get all the white lines on the edges as seen in your photos. Some projects I just stay away from cause I know they won't look the way I want them too. :P

It's not so bad. The dark colour means that it'll be hard to distinguish mistakes once I cover it up.

Thanks. I was going to try to, But I was afraid I'd mess it up and have To reprint it . Lol

Andy, that sounds like a bit of a nightmare (decals), but apart from the white edges, that looks to have turned out really well. 👍
Out of interest, did you use the recommended clear, mentioned in that link i posted about the 'BMF' stuff? (think it might have been 'microsol' or something).

@ dblltke. Cool R34, really like the rollcage and intercooler. Looking forward to see the Scirocco too. 👍

@At 1ness thanks! And yes I soldierd the roll care together using mug welder wire. Thanks I actually had to redo the scirroco lol I made the wing come up more. Will post pics soon.

The wheels on that skyline absolutely ruin it. Also, detailing. And there is no way in hell it rolls freely.

I really like the intercooler, what is it? Staples?

It doesn't even need to roll. I almost rather they don't because then they don't move around when taking a picture on a sloped surface. lol:

The paint on the Skyline is neat, DoubleTake. I have to agree it's missing front detailing. The whole thing looks too plain and needs that extra punch. I second the disagreement of the wheel choice.

Yes I used some of that Micro SET and SOL. I didn't use the recommended clear though. Still the same Krylon aerosol.

As for rolling: Yes I know it's sometimes a pain in the ass to make them roll well, specially severly lowered cars. However, as that is a big requirement in most major contests and in the meetings of the club, since the fender-flared Maverick that didn't roll and was kinda DQ'd for that, I always try to make them rolll freely. You should have seen the pain in the ass that's been making the Nova wagon roll freely without radiusing the rear fenderwells because of doors.

I think the wheels are fine actually. Unfortunately with Hot Wheels you have a limited number of wheels that look good on Japanese cars. :indiff:

While that's true, that don't mean American Racing Wheels suddenly are acceptable for Hot Wheels.

Make your own RRPR5s! :dopey:

False. It could have any of the modern-looking plastic wheels that Hot Wheels offers and it would look awesome. If you're talking about premium wheels, then it's true.

However, I can't see the point of swapping premium wheels into a car if they don't go well with it, just for the sake of fitting premium wheels to it. Stick to plastic if they fit the car, even if they aren't rubber. Or custom make them, as Andy suggests. Or pirate another car from another brand for wheels and tires that look good. But like-15-inch Torque trusts on a R34? Sure.

:odd: Huh? What do you mean "sure"? The wheels being used are just like Torque Thrust (unless Google is lying to me)

Only thing that sucks with the R34 is the limited style of wheels that look fitting (imo). This is one of the cars I would put CM6s on. Just to match JDM culture:

edit: Wheel aside, this is what DoubleTake's R34 is missing; details in the facade.

Just say no to plastic wheels. :P

I think the wheels doubletake's used, kind of works. Along with the wheel fitment, it kind of reminds me of early 'Tjin edition' Skylines.

Sarcasm, dude. Try some.

Wheel are from the Datsun bluebird witch is jdm

The fact that they are bolted to a japanese car doesn't mean they:

a) are JDM, they are obviously modeled after American Racing torque Thrust wheels, which is the most hot-roddish, muscle-car-ish, most american wheel I can think of.

b) is going to fit a modern japanese car, specially in like-15-inch size.

Back on an old PS2 Need For Speed game, I put Torque Thrusts on a Supra and it actually looked really good. Needless to say other wheels looked better.

Just because the wheels aren't in a JDMesque fashion doesn't mean they will be instantly wrong-looking.
What looks good to the owner looks good, they can't help it.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder don't forget. ;)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder-

Silly retort everyone uses. If you can say that so easily, then you'd be a hypocrite for any strong dislikes you have towards certain cosmetic choices (which everyone undoubtedly has).

There's more to it than a simple response as to why one may like or dislike something. Cano and I share the same reasons, while you guys just simply say yes without going any further. If you would like to disagree with someone's opinion, then a formulated reason would be rather nice.

Several of you like Torque Thrusts on a Skyline and I'm honestly curious to know why or how you guys obtained such a taste (not saying it's bad; I just don't have it).

God your writing needs some work, man. Your wording didn't make it clear it was such.

I say yes because they don't look bad. On a real Skyline? Hell no. But a Hot Wheels car, not terrible. You guys have your own opinions, and as is always said "to each their own" so maybe we'll keep it at that so you guys don't throw a hissy fit.

I'm not talking about the wheel itself -which as you might imagine, being the hot rod pig I am, is one of my favorite wheel desings ever- and heck, I'm not even arguing about it being american, I'm saying that the design of the wheels, and specially the size of it, do not fit a R34 at all. Try bigger Torque Trusts on it and it would look way better.

Just as a future note, man, this exact mindset you bring up is the cause for my "hissy fits", not the other way around. I personally encourage people to get into debates about objective reasoning. There's more to learn from that than not questioning anything.

I sound opinionated but I actually want to learn more about how people think and reason. It's when people throw out the "to each their own" line to dodge any sensitive topics that drive me nuts. Why support taboo?

My reason for liking those wheels on the car doubletake has done, (not to be mistaken with any old R34), is that it reminds me a bit, of the kind of style Neil Tjin would have done to an R34 (his earlier work). Another thing about that wheel, is that the actual spoke detail is massively overshadowed by the deep dish style it has, and i think the spoke detail is also lost because of the colour of the wheel.

Honestly I would have used different wheels. But I really wanted real riders and I couldn't find any others. I did notice they where more of an American muscle but I didn't mind since I don't like the plastic wheels and I don't have access to tomika cars.

"And that's a good thing because you can interpretively say that you can't distinguish it as Torque Thrusts."

Would I be correct in saying that?
