Lucky. I destroyed the black paint when I attepted the same.

Well... now that you mentioned it ... this one .. ( unfortunately ) was one of my first experiences with removing tampos... used some nail polish etc... after close inspection it did damaged the paint ... not so lucky !! But only a little bit in the hood and on the doors but it's only in places where it could be easily disguised because it's on the "crevices" .. Imagining this would be a white car and the same happened , when you paint the door lines etc in black , bingo no more damage . I stopped removing tampos because I soon realized there was something I was doing wrong !! Now I get it ... I was scratching too much times on the same places , too much friction ... and thought that the nail polisher was a very light very kind acetone ... not so kind after all !!! And where I could use like a wood toothpick or something or my fingernail , I was damn stupid and used a tip of a metal sometimes a paperclip ... I was all excited and wanted to take the tampos ASAP because everytime I use this my lungs and brain start killing me ... and need to stop right away ... so I try to strip many cars in a row before my head starts to hurt...

Im not kidding it literally puts me to the ground .. darn emphysema !! I hate you ! :banghead:

Or are you talking about the shine of the colour too? That... I think it went ok !! It's all shiny .

And I never ever found this casting .. EVER !! Gotta stick to this one ...

By the way ... could you guys shed me some light in lowering the little buggers?? Don't need to damage the bases right ? Just create some height ? It's such a dramatic difference to the cars !! It's insane !!

All I do is slice the plastic pin looking thing that hold in the axles, cut them away totally and the where the interior sits on the axles, slice away those plastic holding pins and your done, just don't go to crazy on chopping the interior, it's better to do abit then check that it's to your liking, if not do some more. You'll only be able to do so much until the wheel hits the wheel arch but the muscle cars with the shorter axles that have the wheels tucked under the body, you can slam the sh17 out of those. Hope this helps.

Thanks @Emmcee ! So basically the wheels gets on place by the interior and not by the base.. and the weight of the car makes the trick ... ok think I got it .... gotta try on a ****t7 one first ehehe .

No, I was talking about the black paint. I also damaged it and ended up stripping that car off. I was pretty pissed off because I really liked the stripes on the hood but hated the ones on the sides, but now it doesn't matter lol.

Also, no stranger to substances puttinjg you down, altough not at the level y0ou suffer it, thou. I'm alergic/asthmathic, and even if I'm on an ongoing treatment now that really makes me feel well most of the time, indeed when I start using stuff, I immediately feel the effects 👎

Dear God what poor car gave up it's wheels for that thing?

Also, I know you already know, but advice: modifiy the lenght of the axle tube so your wheels poke out more, the wheels do fit the car but they look like they're off a golf cart, all tucked in inside the fenders like that. I know it's not as easy as it sounds given the type of axle tube those use -fixed instead of freewheeling- but you did destroy a premium car for this, so you might as well go the extra effort.

I know you'd say that, but given the limited knowledge I have on wheel swaps, I don't want to risk of breaking the axle. I just find the one that fits very well, and it's already a difficult task on my part.

I had a similar/worse experience with those type of wheels, well not exactly the same wheels, but wheels where the axle was glued into the wheel hub. Long story short.. the glue that held them in place was bonded so strong, that it ended up stripping the spokes out of the rim barrel, when i put rotational force onto the axle, trying to twist them loose from the wheel.

:banghead:

If i ever try that again in the future, i'm just going to snip the axles in half, and find a suitable sized tube to act as a joining collar between the two separate pieces of axle, and widen them that way.

All of this, @RCKakashi14

If you ever want to try it out, you can probably find axle tubing on hobby stores via eBay.

but then again, the wheels probably wouldn't roll based of the method I'm thinking of.

Yeah ... that's why I try to do a bunch at a time ... and everyone knows that doing things in a hurry most of the times can go bad... errrr

Actually it did grinded the paint ... on the by the bonnet and a little on the door lines... check it out :

But I thought about painting the lines also black with a marker since it only happened where there were the lines are . Was it this that happened to you ??

Ended up with this little bugger after the swaps and thought like.. hey !!! You're gorgeous !! Not gonna ditch you to the spare parts can !! It's a keeper !! ehehe The orange interior was on the black one.... and also the wheels.... and it ended up matching did not have that in mind in the first place.. only thing I wanted was the black interior and the clearer windows from this one .

Also been a nightmare when it comes to axles etc.... cannot find tubing anywhere... tried several material shops etc... no luck ... seen this guy on YouTube that used guitar string ?? And another one that just snatched the original axles in half and then bonded them with some plastic tubing from electric cables... and then glued it all together ... some bang the end of the tubing with the hammer , others use a crimp like in the end ... others glue the wheels.... oh man... :banghead:

just sharing some recent details. FERRARI 430scud and 458 spider. tampo removal and basic interior exterior details.

Loving those customs @clopez586 . Very inspirational !! Only feel like slapping Mattel with a large trout for not making side mirrors in most HW models .... specially Ferrari's as I'm also a Ferrari lover .

Meanwhile ... just messed around a bit more with some wheelswaps / chassis swaps ..

Chrysler Firepower Concept

Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser

Type 14 Karmann Ghia Convertible

Gathering all the stuff so I can start on interior detailing , for the exterior already got some red/orange/chrome markers etc..

Was it this that happened to you ??

Yes. But now that you mention it, I think that one might not have been the one that I stripped away, because patching up black paint is easy. The thing must be around somewhere. I really have to look into my boxes.

because patching up black paint is easy

Hmmmm do you have any cool tip on this ? The only thing black I have right now is those pens to write on DVD's etc... When you guys talk about a "sharpie" what are you talking about ? ( feeling really dumb right now lol )

Thinking of buying a little can of black ... but don't really know what to buy ... and few places sell them !!! Even hobby shops are scarce...

I am asking because this has happened to like four more cars !! Project was going great and BAMMMM .... of of these was a Shelby Supersnake ... ( a black casting with red stripes I think from 2012 ) was trying to make a KITT from these new cheesy series .

Hmmmm do you have any cool tip on this ?

Yes, Tamiya acrylic black paint (in bottle, not a can, make sure it's the shiny one, there's also flat black) and a fine brsuh. Patch up, then clear. The clearcoat will itegrate the brush strokes to the paint and they will be hardly noticeable.

I found one on eBay to do the same thing a month or two ago. But the car was in rough shape and I didn't like the body kit. My personal vehicle is Electron blue so I was hoping to paint it that color too. Where did you get the paint? All I found was the paint stick from the car parts store. Is that what you used?

I just use normal spray paint you get from any hardware store and finish of with a coat or two of clear coat. Make sure you strip original paint with a paint stripper and use a decent primer before applying paint.

Call some auto paint shops in your area. Some of them have the ability to make spray cans using any factory color code.
