To be honest, I'd probably just stare at the photos anyway

Hey guys, first time poster but long time watcher, bought a VW caddy today and wanted to know how to lower it? I've taken it all apart, popped the wheels out but don't know the next steps! Any help would be so appreciated <3

What is "lowering" in all literal sense? Is it bringing the body down to the ground, or is it bringing the wheels up closer to the body?

Try thinking about how you can lower the Hot Wheels with that mind set. That's how I figured it out. ;)

edit: Found something hella resourceful for painters:

This is liquid masking. It is superb for masking complex shapes that tape has difficulty with.

This person wanted to paint the discs, so they've applied the green goo on the calipers.

Once done, take it off with tweezers.

I'm doing a trucky thingy with rust and ****, so i'd assume dropping the body down, i just dunno how to do it without getting the wheels stuck://

Those discs look amazing <3

You can tackle the problem one step at a time.

If you're worried about how to lower the car without getting the wheels stuck, your next question would be:

"What is the cause of the wheels being stuck, and what needs to happen to avoid this?"

I'll have a bash at it in the morning, cheers for your support <3

Thanks guys. It needs abit more of a touch up but it turned out how I liked, made an exhaust for it also but the pic doesn't do it justice, have to take a better one.

So people, we just held the first Custom Diecast MĂ©xico customizers meeting! It was just a reunion to show off our customs and projects, and share techniques and ways to customize stuff. We were like 10 guys or so and even so we filled a full table of cars and another with projects! We also met a new customizer who we'd been following for a while and promptly inducted him as honorary member. And there was pizza. We all had a great time and we expect to keep doing these troughout next year, with more people chiming in and a contest or six.

I'll leave these here:

Ive been really busy lately but this morning i had time to do a wheel swap on this dually i had lifted and detailed a few months back. I made these dually wheels for it. It looks so tough now and it still rolls.

great thread. with a nephew and now a daughter within the past year it really got me into shopping for hotwheels and other die cast cars again. I buy extras of the ones i like with the plan to customize a few of them. Going to start simple with some wheel swaps and painting. I poorly customized a few when i was a kid, like 20 years ago. haha.

Also when my grandparents passed recently, I raided their diecast cars box and grabbed about 10 of my favorites. They are in pretty poor shape. Bent axles, paint completely gone on most. Going through this thread got me thinking it would be cool to sort of restore/restomod them after i get some practice customizing, so they can roll again and look nice sitting on a shelf.

That's looks pretty sweet, how's the size of the storm water pipe for the exhaust? Love it, good stuff.
The over exaggerated exhaust was a trend that was pretty popular here in texas a few years back. I had a duramax with a 8.5 inch tip. Looked ridiculous but it was an awesome rig. Thats the look i went for with this hw. Thanks by the way. That shelby you did recently was badass..And the sticker bombed nissan was dope!

Need to get the proper solvent to strip the tampos off the orange truck so its just simple and clean. I dig it with the poverty spec hubcap wheels, they're smaller so it sits lower too. mean street machine stance for the red one now, lowered the front to match the rake of the tires. I need to put some sort of spacers in between the wheels and the chassis. the axle is longer, so the wheels flop around, but i want to keep the full width of this axle for the wide stance, would be nice to keep everything centered.

Pics of the prospects. I'm the main restorer of cars here (others mostly deal with new cars to customize) so I'm sure I can give you some pointers on what you can do to bring them back to life properly without ruining an old, difficult to find parts for-car.

Here's a few more I've been busy with.
Ultra slammed Ford Ranchero that was lowered more than stock and detailed.

will get pics in a couple days. most are nearly bare metal but have most of their parts intact. some have broken/missing windows or doors. I'm not too dead set on keeping them completely original, I figure repainting and swapping some new wheels on are in order for some.

Oh yea, and making new glass and much more stuff. Take a look at the link in my sig and browse around, several restored cars there that have been resto-modded back from the dead đź‘Ť

here are the old hotwheels. the two green ones have all their main body parts. the yellow one is missing the glass and the purple vette is missing the hood. would be cool to find a big chrome engine to drop in the front of that one.

on a not so vintage note, I had this one kicking around. The wheels are just too cool, I have to throw them on something. the plan is they are going onto a detailed purple mad manga. going to have to grind some fenders and maybe camber the rear wheels a little to get it all to fit but they should suit the car well.

I also grabbed a trashed Flat Out 442 from my rents house that I had as a kid. I love this casting so its going to get a full strip down and restoration.
