is that escort a hotwheels casting?
Escort? It's a Ford Sierra, although some call it a Ford XR4TI, it's the same casting either way.

And yes it is a Hot Wheels casting. It was originally a Corgi casting, but Hot Wheels acquired it later on. It's an all time favorite casting for me that I have waited years to customize.

I think Hot Wheels has gotten somewhat better over the years with including moving parts. However, opening doors has never been much of a thing for them. I mean, have they done it before? Yes, but if you exclude this Sierra and ever other former Corgi that came to the Hot Wheels name, their really isn't many out their that do that.

In other news regarding the Sierra, had to strip it and repaint it once for a number of reasons, but I got it this time on the 2nd try. Not going post pictures until it is done, don't want to spoil it. ;) Added most of the detailing already and will finish it soon. All that's left to do is finish detailing it, add the decals, then clear coat it and it will be done! :D

Now I just got to remember how to print on decal paper with my printer. :banghead: I go too long without using it and then I forget how to set it up.
I know most majorette and matchbox cars back in the 80s/90s had either opening doors, hood or trunk, some even had all three. Hot wheels did do one casting I loved playing with as a kid and that was a taxi cab that had a rotating door so if you hit it with another car,it flipped the door to expose a dented and damaged version of the door, was so cool. I love the escort as a car in general, here in Australia, to get a clean cosworth escort, will set you over 40k.

Fully overhauled Peterbilt. Lifted on a functional suspension with my take on military style wheels and tires from an old hot wheel bronco 👍 Looks tough. Shaved the cab lights and stacks. Painted and detailed it. Top left is what it use to look like, i found that image on google.

Some news on the Sierra, finished all the detailing on it Thursday, however our printer is low in ink and it may be a while until we get a new ink cartridge to print the decals I plan to use on it, otherwise I would probably be done with it now. That said, it's the only thing left to do for the Sierra apart from clear coating. Car is looking great! :D

I am aware of our discussion earlier regarding painting the Sierra with the doors opened or closed, but is it is safe to clear coat it with the doors closed?

Wow. That's crazy.

Crack Ups. I got one from that series a while back.

That looks great! I like the idea of jacking it up. 👍 I kind of think it needs something for all that dead space in the back though.

I'm gonna have to agree.. it needs something... rollbar? spare tire? just something ya know...
other than that its truely B.A. and I like the way the suspension looks on it

Thanks, it was fairly easy to build. I will be on the hunt for a headache rack or a spare tire of some sort. It does look a little empty back there. Im working on a couple projects ill post some pics later on tonight.

Yeah it would look good and to make it even better, maybe stain the toothpicks or matchsticks, whichever way you go. I rekin a nice stained flat bed would finish off that nice custom and even then if you wanted to, add roll bars or place something tied down on the flatbed, just to utilise the space you will have, whatever you do iam sure it will turn out pretty good, you seem pretty handy on that suspension design, well done. One question, did you "self paint" those tail lights, like make the design because nothing was there or are they highlighted moulds on the casting? Reason iam asking is if you painted it yourself, IMO it would look much better just a traditional rectangle light with orange, red and clear colurs in that order. Just an opinion.

Im building a wood flatbed for it. I wasnt going to stain it but it wouldnt look bad so I'm gonna see how it goes. Im going to find something for it to haul.... like a small vintage rally car or something like that. Maybe even some tools. It didnt originally have anything as far as tail lights. i just dabbed a toothpick in for lights. I cleared over all the details so im going to have to tape off the body from the fenders and sand them down then re do them....which i WILL be doing because i like ur idea better. Im open for suggestions

That sounds sweet, I like the rally car idea. But then again that might over crowd the truck if you know what I mean? Tools might be the way to go but iam sure you'll think of something.

I would clear coat with doors open as it wouldn't matter as much as it wouldn't be as easily seen as actually painting like that but that just my opinion.

I think the one I have sits lower stock... but it may just be the wheels its on.... I'll have to look
I see you like z's? Nostalgic nissans are a thing in my family. My uncle had an immaculate 280z which was a metallic teal colour, my dad had a turbo z31 which was midnight blue over silver and I wanted a z as well but never found the right example or condition I wanted so I went down the other route and fell in love with r31 skylines, I've had one before and now I own another.

Found it... direct from '97

it may be the wheels but mine indeed sits lower on the nose...

if it's that difficult of a casting to find I suppose I could probably be talked out of mine... it really doesn't fit in with what my collection has evolved too...

and @Emmcee, Like would probably be an understatement... its even my user name (Psychotic but with a Z so it sounds like a drunk guy saying it) my father had a pair of '77 280Zs when I was about 5-6 and I've been hooked ever since. the silver one in my avatar I snagged out of a junkyard in highschool ('79 280ZXR VERY rare car) and I've managed to have bought/sold/parted close to 20 cars since then, S-30s S-130s and Z31s... and over the last 10 years have been DAILY DRIVING an '87 non turbo Z31 (doesnt really notice snow too much either)

I'da probably tried a skyline, but we don't get them in the states :(

The original one came with very small staggered wheels and sat lower. They dont come with dual wheels in the rear so i made a custom set. I actually lowered the front a little more after i took the pic. The rear is as low as it'll go without rubbing. The fat dually wheels tuck nicely in the rear.

Yeah I love my skyline, also have a 2001 wrx, but I still prefer my 89 r31 :)

Lol, interesting take on a dually. I'd have destroyed tge chassis in order to fit two regular-size wheels instead of those.

So I see that some of you guys have bin posting pics of this truck but the real ones have 4 tires in the back and none of the toys had some so I added some what you think ? I still need to pain this so it is a working progress

Nice! I had to completely remove the chassis to drop mine and fit bigger diameter wheels and fatter duals on the rear. Also i had to grind the inner wheel wells to male the wheels fit snugand still roll. (My driver side fender is in prime right now..dremel tool went ape **** in my hands and i gauged it :tdown:Had to re work it and ill paint it when i get some spare time) What color are you painting it?
