DUBer Is that the Matchbox anniversary edition?

GTboyz have you tried pulling it up with your finger?
Yeah and it goes down again like that. I did put some small duct tape so it won't come off easy but that gap is still there. I don't want to super glue it.

Eeasily the last set. The other two don't even look like service vehicle wheels.
Honestly, matte black/grey 5SPs look more fitting that PR5s any day.
I agree, I don't even like PR5 or TRAP5's all that much, I just had them lying around and I threw them on simply because I could. The TRAP5's did end up being tested to see if it can take bigger wheels.

I originally intended to use these (minus the yellow), but sadly I cannot find any. If I ever do, I may give them a shot.

It's amusing how this casting has such small wheels, but can easily take a bigger set without any problems. Whatever wheels I do end up using, I want them to be a size bigger than what it came with and take advantage of that extra space it has while still being able to roll.
Don't you have other less-sporty less-exotic wheels?
I do, but they are in bad shape and don't have any axles currently.
I like that tipper ! Never seen that one before ...
Thank you! This truck is a former Corgi that later became a Hot Wheels casting in the 90's. It's a childhood favorite of mine.

I.M.O. = Those deep dish Real riders with chunkier tyres would suit it the best. :D
I absolutely agree! If I do find some bigger tires, I will try them out with these rims. With all that extra space for bigger wheels, may as well take advantage of it because whats the point in having all that extra space if you're not going to use it? :dopey:

I'm curious as to what the red convertible at the back of the picture is . My guess is a Gen 1 (67-69) Camaro .
 It's a beat up '65 Mustang Convertible Treasure Hunt I picked up recently, but haven't posted about yet.

Well... Crap, anyone know how to tighten that gap on the rear bumper ?
I've used needle pliers (or just thin pliers ) across the axle line ( if the wheels are removed..) then GENTLY bend up the rear wth another pair or pressed onto a hard surface .

Progress on the Buick has come to a halt ... I've removed the bonnet/hood and its evaporated somewhere !! Bugger !
The green didn't look right with the gold ( FORD Tibetan gold , not VW ! ) so I panted (with a small brush) the maroon/ox blood red , which didn't come out as smooth as I hoped . Bugger x2 !:banghead::banghead:
I did one of the Greenwood corvettes ( 1:24 '68 R/T Charger stripe decals !) & a 3.0 CSL BMW whilst the gold was warm & flowing well , there's also a couple... of other "recent re-do's" afterwards . I like the Volvo p1800s stancewerks
The blue cab over lorry ( EX Haulinator ) with an additional front axle , uses some of the rather nice Acceleracers wheels which I brought the entire lot years ago when a hot wheels addict ( "gotta get em' all" ? .... I did ! ) I painted the clear tyres & spokes to suit .
Didn't like the 'robot cars', so lots of parts to use for nicer ones ! :D
I'm keeping the rat rod ones as they are though ~

Well plenty I could post about right now, but I think i'll focus on the Peterbilt for now. Got it a part the other day, the interior and the windshield are all one piece! That's a first!

Did some experimenting last night and I tried this wheels out from a Baja Breaker. They are only slightly too big for it and I feel like I could make them fit with some chassis modifications, it does have a bit of space from where the axle sits and the bottom of the base. I may drill a hole on the sides of the base below where the axle sits and see if I can make it work. My Wal Mart has one Baja Breaker left, I may get it for the third set I need for this one.

As for the dead space in the back where the bucket was, I have not made up my mind yet on what I will do with it, but I will do something about it though. As for the paint, I am not going to repaint it because the paint it has really isn't in that bad of shape and I kind of like it anyways.

Personally I'd say keep the Baja Breaker wheels if you can. Makes it look like an off-road military truck or something you'd find in a Motorstorm game. If also say that I don't think a flatbed would look too bad on there and I'm led to believe that you wouldn't need to do too much to make it work and look right. 👍

Yes and I don't really foresee myself using any other wheels with it because I really dig these!

Now I just wish the Tipping Lorry could take these. :indiff:

True. Their is a lot of potential for filling in that dead space, the problem is just finding out what I want to do with it.

02:55 here in UK !
Nice Lil' Pete there 455 !
All I'd do is paint OR strip bare the stacks & filters on the side of the hood/ bonnet :)
Regarding the fit of tyre : arch , I'd flip the axle under the chassis mounting area , and apply some superglue . I do that to my gasser styled cars !
The rear two axles & big tyres might need spacing apart a tiny bit more though . The back gap . . . Tow hook or 5th wheel ... ???? S 'up 2 U !

on another note , whilst I'm here ... my gold BMW 3.0l CSL has better 'traditional sidewall tyres' & BBS y-spoke wheels from a "McDonalds-H/W" issue Indy car I got in a box of cheap stuff
( nice thick axles !?!)
They're black spokes at the moment , so a quick gel pen silver or gold... ? over that bit .. for now...
( Haven't brought a Molotow pen yet ... ( £7... for a f 🤬 pen ?? not me mate ! LOL ) I've carefully :odd: painted them before , but always seem to fill at least 1 of the the gaps ! :banghead:
nite nite :D

Well messed around some more with the Peterbilt last night and turns it CAN take the large wheels with some easy chassis modifications! I wasn't able to drill that hole I mentioned earlier, so I had to do some old school chassis modding like I used to do with the tubing. After reducing enough of the metal where the axle sits, I was able to get them fit just fit.

However, I did notice that the back wheels were too close together and couldn't move. Luckily I was able to remedy this....
image.jpeg
I carved a ridge slightly to the left for the axle to go. Unless you click the image, you may not see this, but the green circle represents where axle originally sat and the red circle is the new area for the axle I carved with my Dremel.

Now as you can see, it can in fact take the large wheels without issue and despite the middle axle being relocated, it doesn't even effect the trucks appearance. Their is only barely enough clearance between the back wheel and the rear, but as long as it ain't rubbing against it (Which it isn't), I am not worried about it.
image.jpeg
I did test the wheels on the front though and they do indeed fit just fine now, I won't be able to get the front set until tomorrow however. This casting has more potential than I anticipated!

Nice Lil' Pete there 455 !
Thank you! It's about to become even better!

All I'd do is paint OR strip bare the stacks & filters on the side of the hood/ bonnet :)
I'm thinking about stripping the whole thing now and repainting it. My brother has a near mint version of this one with everything intact and after seeing how much better his was than mine, I changed my mind about leaving it. Seeing how well this one is turning out, leaving the paint would be a mistake to me.

I'd flip the axle under the chassis mounting area , and apply some superglue .
That won't work with this one due to the way the base is designed.

The rear two axles & big tyres might need spacing apart a tiny bit more though
Indeed, I noticed it while I was working on it. Truthfully I didn't see your post until after I had figured it all out.

Maybe try to use a toothpick to paint the spokes. I do it sometimes and it works.

Well went to Walmart last night and bought a few wheel donors for the Peterbilt and the Tipping Lorry. I have the 3rd set for the Peterbilt, but i'll post about it later, right now I want to talk about the Tipping Lorry.

I was originally going to get the Ford Transit Supervan only if they didn't have the Renault Clio, but turns out they had both! So I got them and I have an idea for them.

You probably can't tell much by the photo, but the Supervan's tires are thicker than that of the Renault's and they will fit on the Renault's wheels just fine. I am thinking about taking the Renault's wheels, putting the Supervan's tires on them....
IMG_2323[1].JPG
....and then putting them on the Tipping Lorry. They are only slightly smaller than those large wheels I put on it earlier, but it still takes advantage of that extra space this truck has. I think this would be a cool combo that will give this truck a custom look while not straying too far away from what it's supposed to be.

Only thing is, I am extremely hesitate about taking the Renault apart because I really like it and I only was able to get one and I am worried I may not see another. However at the same time I am anxious try these wheels out on the Tipping Lorry and don't really feel like waiting for another to turn up since my Walmart sucks. Decisions, decisions, i'll have to think about what I will do with it later on.

Well, I was going to try to make new axles for the CAT Wheel Loader, Surf Patrol, and the Unimog, but I ended up taking them apart however due to complications.

For the Cat Wheel Loader, the hole in the wheels is so deep, their is no way I can glue the bead on the axle without getting super glue on the wheel. Thankfully the back axle is the only one that needs replacing. The front is totally fine, all I need to do glue it down because it's not held down very well. Didn't want to take it apart, but hey, at least we all get to see what this thing looks like disassembled now! :) Weird how this thing was assembled....
IMG_2357[1].JPG
The Surf Patrols axles were locked down REALLY tight and I cannot slip an axle through there because of this. Should've known since my Path Beater was also like that and came from around it's time. I didn't want to take this one a part either and but oh well, I bought this thing so I can fix the axles and that is what I will do.
IMG_2358[1].JPG
Same case for the Unimog as the CAT Wheel Loader. I have to say, this thing has a very unusual interior and the base reminds me of the Tall Ryder.
IMG_2359[1].JPG
My only goal for these is just to make new axles for them so they can roll again, but I figured i'd share since some people (myself included) probably wonder what these look like disassembled.

To those wondering about the Tipping Lorry and the Peterbilt, I have progress to share, but i'll wait and post on the next page. ;)

I'd love to do an AMG special unimog . A little bit of bling with some large diameter 4x4 wheels , twin turbo diesel V8 , nice metallic gunmetal grey . Maybe Sparks Motors / Diesel Brothers might be interested LOL . I've got the 12inch/30 cm long beard too...:odd:

The thought of customizing the Unimog did cross my mind, but I decided against it because it's the only one I own and if I ever did customize one, it will most likely have that top piece. (Which mine does not)

Okay, this thread is moving way too slow, so I am going to post my progress on the Kenworth.

Here it is currently. Painted it sublime green, detailed the grill a bit and I also detailed the fuel tanks simply because I could. I installed the 3rd set of wheels on it and as you can see, it can take them really well despite not originally being able to! Going to detail it later.
IMG_2377[1].JPG
As for the bed, I have decided I am going to make a trailer to go on it. I have a sheet brass lying around and I am thinking about cutting a few pieces, epoxy them together, and then spray paint it a certain color and put my avatar on the sides. I am even thinking about giving it opening doors.

I was originally going to make it into an oversize camper, but I ultimately am not sure how I will go about it yet, but the idea is still on the table though. I am wanting this thing to be modular so I can put different attachments on the back instead of them being permanent. I have to say this thing has far more potential than I once thought and if it does end up being modular, I have a feeling I will never truly be done with it. :)

With a bit of trimming, yes. I have the [amazing] Fiat 500 wheels on a hot wheels car, and I needed to do trimming on the chassis as Majorette have lil spacer thingys

So..... I was going to post up some recent buys from my local Poundland (guess how much they were ..?) I've gone & lost the digital cameras memory card . :grumpy: " its in here - somewhere " LOL
Anyway , I got myself a Matchbox mk.5 GTI Golf 3 door -in grey- which will be getting a nice new paint job ,
A Sccandinavian 4x4 hillclimber that I want to detail nicely.....
and a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 "El Segundo Fire Services " ( just rolls off the tongue that one !) which I've already detailed with even more red paint (pick up bed , front nudge bar & wheels) & a dab of black wash in the door gaps etc .( Might have a go at flashing lights on the roof.... might....)
I've had to store all my modelling stuff away as my sister has moved in temporarily (landlady problems...) and everything of mine has been deemed not important at the moment :banghead: .
Guess who just dropped a box of 6 x 1:25 plastic funnycar models ... 🤬 idiot ! :dunce:
I opened it up , and closed it quickly ...:mad::mad::mad::mad:
100's of little chassis rail bits and wheels with broken axles . So THATS why I do 'hot wheels' then......... :ouch:
"could be a lot worse " .... "whatever !" :odd:

Haha oh no!

Poundland are the bosses when it comes to cheap hot wheels and Matchbox cars. In one haul I bought:
Said grey Gold
New Mx5
VW T2 pickup
And a few others I've forgotten

Great detail and not too bad for the price!
Majorette cars are amazing too. The 'pro' ones can be found at ASDA for about 2 quid

I can understand why. I honestly have never trusted my dad when it comes to organizing. I need to clean up my work area because he will probably use it soon.
