Hm, sounds quite interesting...

I'll look out at my local hobby shop for either the 'Busch' or 'strassenfolie' stuff... Why do they both have funny names?! I'm gonna look a bit weird saying can I see your strassenfolie!

The weekend brought progress to some projects. I did some grinding work to adjust the pick up loading area of my Ford P100 (thx spence).

What do you think people should I add a rear window to the rear wall?

My second project is s Matchbox Mercedes 500 SEC.

Stolen out the car box from my son.
It has two broken a-pillar.
I could fix the problem by using toothpicks.
Here is the outcome.

Try headlamp polishing compound, it's what I use on mine. Although if it's too badly damaged, you may need to take a go at it with high-grade sand paper, then polish compound.

A bath in Future at the end and it will look as good as new.

Oh, and yes, add a rear window

This casting is great, aside from all the missing front/rear details:

Decided to undertake my first attempt at customizing a Hot Wheels. The subject is the 1976 Corvette Stingray, once a Target Easter exclusive, now to become a replica of my grandfather's 1977 Corvette for a Christmas present. Here's how it sits currently:

I've used the Karmann Ghia from the Track Day set as a donor for the wheels since they look the closest to the real thing.

Hot Wheels Christmas ornament for my nephew. It's pretty self explanatory. Just drill a hole (in this case 5/64) in about the middle of the roof for the eye hook and screw it in. Then stick the string around the hook and tie. Location of the hole in the roof will depend on the weight distribution of the car. If it's front heavy then the hook should be toward the front bumper of the car, and vise versa if it's rear heavy. This should allow one end to keep from hanging too much lower than the other.

EDIT: Once ready to hang on the tree, the eye hook should be parallel or at least as close as you can get to the bumpers of the car.

One I've seen done includes a magnet for fridges etc.. two elastic bands crossed over the wheels into the wheel arch . then add the string to suit .
Oh , getting near to presenting some recent buys Old matchbox to new Greenlight Diorama stuff . X'mas first . Have a safe & happy one everyone .

First a happy new jahr to all of you.

Cano thanks for your reply. Next weekend I'm going to buy headlamp polish and will share the outcome as fast as I can.

I have reached the next level on my Ford Sierra (P100) Custom.
The rear window is added and the tires has a new home (wheelhouse).

Here are some pics....

Does anyone here have an airbrush? I would like one for painting 1/64 diecasts and 1/24 model kits. What would you recommend as a starter kit for a beginner like me (That's relatively cheap too)

I just bought whatever was available for $30. It's a siphon feed. A pain in the butt to clean up, but all airbrushes are generally. I didn't buy one of those tiny compressors that people usually sell you on. I already had an air compressor in the garage I use instead.

If you're not ready to do a lot of cleaning, I don't suggest getting yourself into this. You're also going to appreciate using the appropriate thinner for your paint as well as 100% acetone if you plan on using acrylics and enamels.

I'm up to cleaning I think. Tutorials said it would only take around 30 minutes to clean per time you use it. I was also looking at siphon fed.... What do you mean by acetone? Why would I need it? Even if I use pre-thinned paint and airbrush cleaner.

I use the basic airbrush set from revell.
There is a single action spraygun (incl. Equipment), compressor, two colors, cleaner, ... included. It works well with acrylic paint I'm using only. Cleaning will take not more than 15 minutes. For such little models I think its a good alternativ to use. For cleaning its not necassary to use aceton.
The set cost 70€ in Germany I don't no whether they sale this in other countrys.
Good luck.

Maybe I'm just primitive in technique, or maybe I'm just cheap. I use Testors Enamel and Tamiya Acrylic. I can readily supply myself with bottles of acetone (which can dissolve both those paints) that I can't justify regularly buying "airbrush cleaner" products.

However I did buy one airbrush cleaner product which I recall works just fine if I use specifically-made airbrush paint by the same brand.

I see it and the price looks great... Two things:
Do the cups holding the paint have enough room to store enough paint for a whole model, or do I need to top-up
I see the compressor has no tank.... Does that mean inconsistent airflow?

How do you thin-ify the Tamiya paints?

With Tamiya's thinner.

Generally, you want to thin whatever you want to shoot to the point where it is about as runny as milk.

I've airbrush with nail polish before and that was a huge hassle to thin.

I still have that big box with your name on it!

Haha, not gonna happen in a good while, I'm up to my neck in debt for cars and figurines and more cars. I'm even going back to selling extra cars -haven't done it in a reeeal while- to pay stuff up.

The cups have color for 10 cars or more inside.

Yes the comressor has no tank. It provide constant airflow. It is a very simple compressor you have only three buttons to controll the pressure. But for me its enough.
For cleaning sometimes I use nailpolisher. It works well with acrylic paint.

Sounds good. There are a lot of Projekts in the Pipeline. I'm curious.

Don't hold your breath lol, most of them are long term projects. The only ones that I'll try to get done for RIGHT NOW are the Majorette Citroën, the Malibu Lexus and maybe the Lesney Lincoln, as the upcoming CDM contest has '4 Doors' as its theme.

There isn't a big custom 1/64 scene in Germany as far as I know.. or Europe for that matter. Maybe Spain has something.

Mexico, US and Southeast Asia are the biggest from what I've been exposed to.
