I definitely wouldn't call myself an Alien, didn't you reach GT Academy finals Saidur? I'm fairly certain you can work it out, even though you also had issues on Ferrari Virtual Academy you were right up there on the leaderboards. I haven't tried the X-Bow at Magione yet, I gave it a few laps at Imola and I found the brakes were super sensitive and I had a lot of lockup issues, still a lot of fun though.

I'l give it a try for a few laps. You should give the BMW M3 GT2 a try, it's a lot more of a pick up and play car than the X-bow due to the sheer ammount of performance it has. I personally have issues driving the Ferrari 458 Italia, I can barely keep the thing on the road and spend too much time sideways or locking up brakes to be anything near fast.
Well what about half alien then :lol:. Adam you may know is not from this planet so if you can beat his time then you are doing well. I did make it to nationals but you can be way off the fast guys and still make it. I think my main problem is the way the tyres react such as understeer when loaded on steering lock in apex of corner, as well as mid-corner and exit when taking steering lock off. Also getting the car stopped is tricky. However looked at InsideSimRacing video just now and they seem to be struggling worse than me so that is good to know at least. Maybe this particular car and tyre is main issue. Will give the Imola and M3 GT2 a go once I have managed to do a decent lap around Magione with the KTM X-Bow.

I just gave it a few laps too, initially struggling on braking (locking tyres), though I somewhat fixed it by pumping the brakes instead of a smooth application, helped me tackle some understeer/locking issues. Otherwise the car is really understeery and has a bit of a slugish change of direction at Magione. Some experimenting saw me gain time by overcooking the first corner to take a very wide apex, also had the car sideways for some of the final 2 corners without losing time (though it cooks the tyres). I'm finding the car is really horrible at this track to be honest, low 1:21's is what I'm managing, but I'l not say more until I get a solid time in the 1:20's. I haven't even managed a properly clean lap yet, I don't have the patience to make 1:19s in this car.

So I'm not doing too bad, I think I am starting to get the hang of the car now, very little brake input is required. I was worried you were going to say you are into the 1:17s already. I just messed up a good lap, was on for about high 1:18s but completely messed up last sector and ended up on a 1:19.180. I think 1:17s is possible if everything is nailed though.

Yes, the camera_onboard.ini change everything to 0 except for the rotation which I left to 60 degs.

Yeah, I tried this and it feels heaps, heaps better. The cars with soft suspension move around you a bit, but it gives you a good sense of what the suspension is doing. Locking to horizon and taking away the wobbles is a decent approximation of the filtering your brain would do with your eyes normally.

I recommend other people try this. It's much easier to go fast.

I had tried the X-BOW-Magione combo yesterday and had done a 1:19.4. You can take so much kerb without it invalidating though. Will have another go later. :)

Will be interesting to see what you can do, I will give this another go later. If I manage to do a lap and close to my limit, hopefully get closer to mid 1:18s. There seems to be room to go much faster though using the kerbs like you said and initiating a slide for a few of the tight corners. I think that will be the only way to get into 1:17's but is beyond my skill level to do it consistently through a lap at the moment. Happens more by accident getting car rotated well, under braking.

Not been back on the Xbow since my initial few laps, I think driving the BMW messed with my driving, I'l go back to it when i have a fresh perspective after I've finished with other cars, probably try using paddles and left foot braking too until I've got a hang of the basic handling.

Back on the BMW M3 though and I think maybe 1:41s are doable now (Imola), I need to find some time to play for a good bit and experiment, amazed at how and where I'm finding time with it when I initially thought 1.43s to be a good time. No laps to post yet tho, will post a video on the weekend or something.

Edit : Fastest is a 1:42.412, however the game doesn't seem to believe me and tells me my fastest is infact 1:42.692. I've done a whole bunch of times in the 1:42.4-1:42.6 range so I'm guessing I was too greedy in terms of using runoff areas and invalidated them. My biggest issue is actually keeping the car on the track for a whole lap while pushing this hard, I've changed gear ratios (1 click shorter on each) and some other things (mainly diff) to make the car less snappy so that it is more forgiving of heavy handed driving, which has helped me a lot in the quick change of direction (weight transfer) corners.

I want a 1:41, if I dont manage it by the weekend I'l just post a video of a 1:42 time. Love this sim, having awesome fun! Now bed, up in 4 hours....

Hey guy's where can I find that setting to reduce the screen wobble effect, I need to try hot lapping with it reduced or off to see if there is a difference.
Not got much time to lap these few days, not until Thursday I hope.

Just did afew laps in the M3 E92 and got 2.10.444 [Pro] street tyres. Will do some more laps when I get back from work tomorrow, should of been in bed an hour ago :/

New time - 2.10.444 - M3 E92 - [Pro] - street tyres

Go to Documents>Assetto Corsa>cfg>camera_onboard.ini

Edit the following settings:

Code:
[GFORCES]
MIX=0.0000,0.0000,0.0000
LAG=0.0

[SHAKE]
SCALE=0.0000, 0.0000, 0.0000
FREQ=000,000,000
RANDOM=000

You can also edit FOV, but be aware that it's vertical FOV.

Another trick that helps is enabling the dev apps.

Go to Steam>SteamApps>Common>Assetto Corsa>system>cfg>assettocorsa.ini

Change the following:

Code:
[AC_APPS]
ENABLE_DEV_APPS=1

You'll find a lot of extra apps in game, the most useful of which is one for moving your seat position in the car.

I've just managed a 1:18.7 on Magione with the X-BOW, and although it came up in my session results, it hasn't replaced my previous pb of 1:19.4. It definitely was a clean lap with at least 2 wheels on tarmac as I watched the replay. And I also did a load of other laps quicker than 19.4. Not sure what's causing it. Still more time to be gained though. As you said Saidur, you can gain a lot of time under braking. I've also noticed on a few of the corners, it's best not to be on the inside rumble when accelerating on exit.

Will have another go with the M3 GT2 now.

Yeah I don't understand how it works either, it sais my personal best is the 1:42.6 but it's showing the telemetry of the 1:42.4 lap.

Sorry for the cutaways, had to break up the 30 second fraps clips somehow. Still time left there, possibly can make the 40s with the default setup. With a tweaked setup, who knows. :)

the screen feels much better now with that .ini config Imari, thanks.

damn it speed you went faster?!?! @_@

I'm gonna give this a proper go later today.

Im only fast with the slow ones.... Damn hax 1.44 in GT2 but I recond that it demands more right set upp and it pays off better than tweaking road cars. Will have a go with it later but I dont Think i will reach 1.45s.

Far too busy for the old wheel at the moment, I'll probably get some good time next week.

2.07.692 - DrTrouserPlank - BMW M3 E92 - Street

That's just using the settings it gives you. There's probably a 2.07 flat there without playing with settings quite easily.

I had to change how I drove that car in order to start getting some better times. Usually I'd let the car run fast through the apex and just sort it out on the exit, but the price for getting oversteer on exit seems too high to use that approach. I actually went faster once I calmed my style down a bit.

How do the replays work? I saved one (or thought I did) but nothing shows up under replays.

Edit: This wasn't done using "pro" default. I had ABS on, and auto clutch. All other assists were off. I don't know how that compares to the "Pro" setting.

e GT planet...

Hahaha...... nice one speedy ;)

but damn 4 seconds difference now, I can't even beat my best atm, that 4 seconds gap looks impossible to me at this stage, i'm gonna try giving it abit of a setup.

The GT2 I just messed around with the Gear ratio and camber a little.

I'm taking a break from the M3's and decided to try out the Lotus 49 for awhile, so far I managed a 1.30.092 around classic monza.

At first the Lotus 49 and KTM X-BOW took a little while to get used to but started putting in descent lap times towards the end of the session. I'm loving this sim, cant wait for online.
