Well I've got a little experience with AWD on farm trucks... but since GT doesn't have any "Upstate New York X-Country (Field, Forest, Swamp, and Mount Toppin) Summer/Winter Track" I don't think my experience is too helpful.
EG, I've never kicked a frozen cow pattie into the next car's windshield, busting it (and the driver's skull) open.
GT seems to have a good
model of it though. You get the "jerky" feeling of AWD when you start slipping, but it's very different from what I've experienced. Although again... there isn't a "1988 F350 4x4 with 250,000 miles and the metal beed torn out and replaced with wood," so my experience is, unfortunately, not too helpful.
