I've recently updated my class list for all of my cars. Most of it is the same, but I've made some alterations to groupings or added new ones.
I'm at 507 individual cars now across 72 distinct racing classes.

I'm going to be listing them off this time in terms of discipline/grouping and descending by tier on the ladder rather than alphabetically. Whenever car classes are grouped together single-spaced under a discipline, that indicates a ladder.

A fun new feature that’s going to take a while to implement is a blue link for each class name that will bring you to an example replay of each class in action. Additionally, the description of each video presentation features a description and full car list of each class. I’ll post in this thread again once it’s filled out.

Where would N-GT Cars like the RSS Ferrucio 36 (Ferrari 360 GTN) Fall under; GT2? GT3? Or a new category for post-1982 Grand Tourers?

I don't have them so it's not an issue I've had to solve. But if I were to get them I'd probably lump them in GT3.

I have the FIA N-GT cars as their own separate class. There's four of them available for AC and I think that's enough to split them off.

I was doing some performance tests after reading this at Mugello with 100% AI and I for sure would not recommend having N-GT in any other modern GT category. They're simply too slow for GT2/3 and too fast for GT4.

You can find the Morgan and Nissan quite easily on Assettoland. The Morgan needs some ballast or restrictor to play nicely with the rest.

Hello. Can you check your inbox please ? It is very important to me.

Best regards !

This thread is pure gold! I'm wondering if there's a chance to assign tags to single skins instead of cars, it was possible back in the days with GTR2 and rFactor, when tags were linked to skins files instead of main car. I have TONS of skins downloaded at RD and I want to categorize them, for instance a SGT300 GT3 class with all the SuperGT300 related skins, Blancpain GT3, Open GT, Adac Masters, VLN, and so on.

If you choose a car in the Content tab and go to the bottom bar where it says "Skins" beside "Setups", it will bring up another page with a list of all the skins you have installed.

Each skin should have a text box which says "Priority" under country. If it doesn't, you need to create a UI.JSON for that specific skin. You can enter a number into the priority box like 1,2,3 etc.

If you make a certain racing series correspond to a number in priority, you can go to the random skins filter in detailed grid settings in the Race menu and type in the value you assign to a specific racing series. This should force the game to load skins from that priority number that you have assigned.

So for example. I go through all my GT3 cars and set Blancpain skins as priority 1 on each car. I then go to detailed grid settings and type in "1" into the random skins filter, which should force the game to load Blancpain skins for all the GT3 cars in the grid.

Make sense, I think it could work but wasn't able to make it happen for now. There are some random intruders. Need to double check if I edited ALL the skins I wanted to show up linked to a priority number, I'll investigate asap. Meanwhile when you have some spare time can you please confirm this method works on your end? Maybe try it on a car with small amount of skins :)

Ok, I think I've cracked the code. The random skins filter can actually take letters and it seems like it works sort of like the tag filters for cars. It checks the skin's name and compares the letters within the filter to the skin's names. So it seems like priority is only for determining which random skin goes first or is more likely to be chosen.

So I tested this out by naming some skins "poop" and making the skin filter value "poop". It always summoned those cars with those skins without fail.

So I'd recommend trying to rename all your Blancpain skins to something along the lines of "Blancpain_Team_Number" and then setting the filter as "Blancpain" instead. It should only load skins that have the Blancpain text in their name.

WOW it works!!! That's what I did in my test with Formula Hybrid 2017: changed skin Id (the folder skin) within Content Manager and renamed Team name the same way (json file always within Content Manager) so,

OW1_TeamName_Number (OW1 is a fictional tag that stands for Open Wheelers 1)so typed OW1 in the random skins filter and bingo!! This way Skin name (the one actually displayed in Content Manager above car preview) doesn't need to be chenged.:gtpflag:

I've used "Manual" instead of"Custom" in pre race grid menu options (not sure if it makes any difference yet).

Street- All stock cars
Le Mans/WEC/LMP1/GT1 etc.
F1
FIA World Sports Car Championship (Has many cars)
TransAm, CanAm
IndyCar,IRL
like the real world

I don't condone spending your money on it, but if you've ponied up for the Guerilla Mods R8 GT2 and aren't sure what to drive it against, the current eligible SRO GT2 cars we have for Assetto Corsa besides the R8 are the 488 Challenge EVO and the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO. The Porsche 935 isn't currently being used but it is eligible for use.

Cars we are currently missing for the class include the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, KTM X-Bow GT2 and the JP Zero Lotus GT2.

Again, just for anyone who may be confused. There is a difference between FIA GT2/GTE cars and SRO GT2 cars. The Audi R8 GT2 is not in the same class as the Corvette C7.R or M3 GT2, for example.

So, to reiterate, the current Assetto Corsa SRO GT2 car list is:

- Audi R8 LMS GT2 (Guerilla Mods)
- Ferrari 488 Challenge EVO (Kunos)
- Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO (Rollovers)
- Porsche 935 (EX Mods)

This isn’t super important but I added a pole to this thread because I was curious about what style of car was the most popular to race among forum users around here. Each option also includes the older/vintage equivalent so feel free to vote above.

Hi all, really interesting thread here. I've started organising my cars, but I'm wondering how to create folders for the tags? So I could have, say, "Touring", "GT" and "Prototype" as folders, and then underneath those, have some individual classes. As it is, everything looks very disorganised:

That’s a really good question/point actually. Personally within my tags menu it definitely starts getting messy once you start adding a whole bunch like I have. Of course it’s all alphabetical so it isn’t hard to find things but it’s not the most visually appealing.

Here's what I've got at the moment. I wouldn't say finding things is a huge chore or anything but items can get lost sometimes and this could definitely be improved upon with some sort of folder system.

The option to add folders for tags is something I’ve actually wanted for some time. I think it would be really cool if we could do more with the tags menu such as adding logos for folders and tags so we can have series logos for car groupings instead of just plain text.

But yeah, sorting tags with folders would be a really nice feature for those of us who use it. Unfortunately it hasn’t happened yet.

Ahh, see, to me it looked like it was possible judging from @cool3865 's post higher up on this page where they seem to be split into different folders. I guess not though, unfortunately.

I did just have the idea of using categories instead of tags to separate the classes, since you can have logos for those. I'll look into it a bit more.

Edit: Scratch that. Can't find any way of manually changing/adding logos to the categories.

Yeah I tried changing the categories myself too in order to influence them to a similar effect but I didn't have any luck either. They don't seem to be easily changeable like tags.

Might be worth brining up the folder system to the people who develop CM but it's a really small thing compared to what they're focused on so I doubt it will be implemented. Couldn't hurt though.

My system so far. 8 groups, with sub-classes, inspired by modern FIA classifications.

A few adjustements I came up with in the last few months:

Added:

L/K - Road legal cars meeting current kei-car specs in terms of power, displacement and size
L/59 - Road legal cars built before 1959
P/59 - Prototypes built before 1959
SS/5 - Formula Student
SS/59 - Single seaters built before 1959

Tuned group - Tuned road cars with semi-slicks
T/1 - Under 2.5 kg/hp
T/2 - Between 2.5 and 4 kg/hp
T/3 - Over 4 kg/hp

Edited:

L/1 - Road legal cars, changed from under 1000 to under 1600cc.
L/2 - Changed from between 1000 and 2000cc to between 1600 and 2000cc

This was done because the L/1 field was extremely thin and unbalanced, while L/2 was one of the biggest. This change makes both categories a little more interesting.

Removed:

L/HW - Sadly all of the current buses currently need quite a bit of work on physics. Plus double deckers have the unfortunate tendency of getting stuck under bridges.

Thanks to all modders for their great work, having to come up with so many weird classifications is a fantastic problem to have.

I technically go more "in-depth" or specific, for racing disciplines with 2 or more sub-disciplines (e.g. Group C having Group C1, Group C2, Group C Jr. and IMSA GTP), classifying some cars in said field into these smaller fields, but retaining the Group-C tag.

Same goes with Group 5 having around 5 generations (from late 60s prototypes to special versions of 70s-80s production models)

Grouping race cars within their own classes is rather easy. But I also like to race with and against street cars. Much like in GranTurismo or Forza Motorsport at the lower levels. Both racing games have their own ranking system, which is not available in AC.

So last year I decided to make my own AI-ranking system. The logical choice for a comparable group should be the laptime of different cars. So I started to let the AI race against each other on the same track. Then I had the idea to also compare the AI-laptime against real world laptimes. I have searched for the race track with the most laptimes from street cars. I did find the most laptimes for "Hockenheim Short": https://fastestlaps.com/tracks/hockenheim-short There are several hundred entries here (dont be confused by "only" 236 entries in the list. That is just because that is the limit of the page - there are much more laptimes hidden within the cars ranking info.

So I took a certain car, choose 10 opponents with the same car, set the AI level to 100%. I started in the back of the field to not interfere with the AI but had the stay close to the AI for at least 2 laps (the AI slows down, when you are not doing this). After a 5 lap race I looked for the best laptime and transfered it into a datasheet (OpenOffice).

This is the result (first 10 entries), bold entries are Kunos cars:

1626331360595.png

I didnt finish the project but now I can group cars with a similar laptime - at least for this track. Just an idea.
Remove the txt-ending of the file.

Would it be also possible to put cars in different car-folders or sub-folders.
I´m losing gradually the overview on all my 400+ cars in my cars folder.
Could CM not handle a better cars system?

Unfortunately: No, That is where the "Tags" are used as shown in this thread.

And you didnt download very many mod-cars:

... I am sure, there are users with much more cars out there.

I didnt finish the project but now I can group cars with a similar laptime - at least for this track. Just an idea.
Remove the txt-ending of the file.
Darn, I really wish I could view that text file but it turns out as gibberish any time I try viewing it, any help possibly?

I sort my road cars using a similar system, lap times rather than power or engine capacity. I find it makes much more closer racing but some of my tiers are still quite a bit unbalanced.

I have converted the ods-file into an (old) Excel xls-file. I hope all funcionality of the file is still working. The forum accepts uploads in that format without changing the file-extension. I hope you can open and read it now.

For getting a comparable selection of cars, sort the colomn "100% AI". The color-coding of column L and M is for massive differences between the real time laptimes and the AC-AI-laptimes. So cars with orange and yellow times are the most inaccurate ones.

Hi all,

As I have a nice collection of cars, I thought I would be time to properly classify and group them.
So one night this week I sat down and clicked and typed away for hours. Every car in its correct class. I found a nice system to do that, courtesy of some inspiring folks here.. :)

However, I found out that, when for instance I want to create a race that CM (or AC) does not recognize these classes or screws them up.
For instance, I have Formula 1 cars, depending on their era, grouped into Formula A to Formula F.
However, if i click on the tag #FORMULA B I get all the FORMULA cars, from A to F.

Also:
When selecting opponents for a race, do I need to select them on TAG or Race class?
