Just a quick poll. How many dual-shock controllers (..keyboards...wheels....whatever) have you totally DESTROYED in frustration?

I've lost count. :( I figure over the years it's been somewhere between 12 and 15! It's just mind-boggling when I think of it. At an average of $25 a pop, that's $300-$375!...more than half what I'd need for a PS3 gashdarnit! :dunce:

Mission 34 got me last nite and another dual-shock was sacrificed. And get this; today I bought another. This one was BRAND NEW, but it didn't matter--I was like >< this close to smashing it to smithereens at a point. :grumpy:

Ahem...please submit your replies, folks>

None! Thankfully. My old DS2 still works perfectly even though I've played a lot of GT4 with it, and my stick-mashing style is definitely not gentle on it. But I suppose it helps that I don't crush it when I get frustrated.

The funny thing is, I recently gave away my PS1 to a friend, and in the box was the original gray dual-shock that came with the console. Somehow it survived my early gaming days...I'm not sure if I ever smashed controllers back then, tho...I think I beat up a pillow instead.

Controllers.........none but not because I'm a zen master. It's only because of good luck, the amount of times my DS2 has seen the wall would clock up in the dozens!!

None. Although I did come close a couple of times, but I put the controller down and threw something else instead.

haven't smashed any, but they have suffered a lot from falling onthe floor by "an accident".. yeah.. :D besides, I use G25 that can take a lot of abuse. I think. :odd:

Can't say I never wanted to smash one, but I never did. The guy in white on my left shoulder always seems to win the discussion with the red guy at the right just when I'm about to send the controller sailing across the room.
My steering wheel never had a beating either... thanks to the guy in white I suppose.

I've always resisted getting as far as throwing a controller across the room - I'll just turn the Playstation off instead. :P But one or twice I have pushed the X button too hard in frustration, pushing it into the controller and breaking the sensitivity... and I've tried to snap one in half - quite hard to do.

None, I'm too much of a scrooge to do that. A reasonably wide variety of things have experienced flight though and as a detail my old SNES pad has a set of quite deep tooth marks in it. :D

SNES controllers - 1 . . . Snapped it clean in half. Grabbed both ends and bent down untill I heard a snap. I was shocked to say the least. And it was my only controller.
Playstation controllers - 0 - I had one quit working, but it wasn't because of anything that I had done.

PS2 controllers - 2 or 3. I have . . . well had a bad habit of spiking my controller out of frustration from time to time.
After the last DS2 bit the dust, I decided it was getting to costly to keep spiking them at the floor.
So now when I sit down to play, there is a nice thick pillow in front of me in case I reach that “ Gamer Rage, Spike the Controller” state. Which hasn't happened in a while.

and I've tried to snap one in half - quite hard to do.

Me too. They're impossible to break in half without a vice and some channel locks. But see, that's why I like 'em. Sony's dual-shocks are definitely the most durable.

Ha! So far I've broken the most controllers out of anybody here! Go figure.

You need to get out more. Or exercise, or something cause it's just not healthy getting that worked up and physical over a video game.

Lets see now......

So far, both of my DS2 controllers is deemed "useless" because the wires a crap, and the analog is 🤬. Also, I managed to crack one of the controller and one of the button came off (but I did put the button back, but now it feels spongy) because of playing a video game out of frustration (forgot what game it was) and the other one was useless because it keeps disconnecting. :ouch: (actually, now both controller suffer the same fate because of the cheap build quality of the controller)

I still have one PS1 DS controller left, and even with all of the abuse I put into it, it still works! :dopey: Only problem with it was the L2 button doesn't work anymore, and the select button is kinda broke (need to press several time in order for it to respond) but other than that, it works just fine. No wire problem, no crack and best of all, no disconnecting all the time. 👍

Currently, I'm using a wireless Sega DS2 controller, and even that has a slight problem already.... ( right D-pad button doesn't respond very well :()

I also managed to broke an arcade stick and a G-Con gun during the years.... :D

That don't matter. I need to go out more, I agree with you on that, but I'll still get worked up no matter what. :mischievous: That's how it is...at least I'm not out blowing up banks or beating up puppies, right? :nervous:

No, but what do you do if something frustrates you IRL?

Nothing usually. I'm about as sarcastic and opinionated IRL as I am here at GTP, but rarely do I blow my top, I'm pretty mellow.

One exception. Last year I worked at Mr. Tire for a month. this place has their mechanics running around like a chicken with its head cut off at times. Anyways, I lost it one day. Forgot to put a guy's spare tire back in the car after fixing a flat, which is totally not like me.

I remember getting real pissed...slamming my fist into the lockers before leaving the place to cool off. My foreman told me I push myself too hard (which is true sometimes)..just to calm down.

But I quit that job the next week. :ill: I'm fortunate that my current shop is a slower pace. I only smash dual-shock controllers if I'm gaming and things aren't going right.

I've gone through two. I was able to reassemble one (I had to pull the rumble motors out, which is actually an odd sensation to use now as it is so light) and I had to toss the other one (the X button just stopped working, which is actually the reason I broke it). I've also gone through a few Genny controllers that I bought specifically to break so I wouldn't bust the more expensive DS2s.

 remind me that I should not upset you..:nervous:

Depending on what consoles do you talking about
PS1=3 controller.1st because stroked by lightning (IT'S TRUE!!!!),2nd because it's slammed to the wall,3rd because i accidentally sat on it.
PS2=0.When i get frustated because of the game,i ram myself to the wall rather than the controller.
 :banghead: :ouch: 🤬
painful but stress-relieving

Once, threw my Mad Catz controller at the dog but hit the wall because I was doing one of the IB license exams, I had to leave my room to get a package, I come back and my cockerspaniel had sat on my controller and PS2 messing up the exam.
So now lies a dead mad catz controller and a dog shaking half to death when he screwed up my game!

 I had a Mad Katz once..it was the worst controller I ever owned! I didn't have to break it...after a few weeks, the damn thing was falling apart on its own!

I have never broken a controller, because no matter how angry I got, it wasn't worth twenty bucks taking it out on something.

Two, and now the X button has stopped working on my current one. I really mash the buttons when I'm under pressure.

heh, those controllers are actually quite good without all of the damn blasted turbo features, but I like said I lost data due to my cockerspaniel sitting on my PS2 and the controller.
Now everytime I turn on my PS2 and start Gran turismo he stays away from my console and me while I am playing all I have to do is look at him while playing he starts shaking in fear if he goes near my game again.

Wow, I wish I could be so logical like this.. :indiff: Most of the time (as I said) I'm pretty mellow in real-life. But I go into a Pete Townsend rage if I'm so close to finishing a test or a mission but a little mistake is made.

Errrm, I think its three DS2's that have been sacrificed in my controller rage. Although I do still have a veteran controller of 3 years which still works perfectly! :D But to add to those three controllers that have gone, I've broken the hinges on my wardrobe door and knocked the PS2 off the desktop and into the bin that sits below. :dunce: Stupid thing to do, but it still worked afterwards, and has done for the following 27 months or so. :dopey:

The other controller that is currently used is dodgy everywhere; the wiring, D-pad, buttons, analog, everything! This will be the 4th controller death soon for sure. :scared:
