Haven't played in a few months, actually. I've been playing GT4 and on my PC lately. GT6 had a trashy career mode and online mode with immature players, the game really didn't have much going for it

The number of gripes I have with GT is always increasing. Still, I keep coming back whenever having tried a relevant alternative. GT6 remains as the only game that truly satisfies my urge to drive and admire cars. Best combination of locations too, whether real or original.

So my DS3 broke 2 months ago but I dug up an old DS2 and USB adapter and it actually works with all the games I want to finish on PS3 - but not GT6.

This thing is 11 year old now by the way 👍.

Anyhow I had a small pause in playing before another DS3 arrived - it was a Chinese copy and it was crap. The seller went silent so I went to PayPal and he suddenly came back to life and refunded me shortly after.

So I was left without a way to play GT6. It had me thinking for a while - "do I actually give a damn ?"

And no - I don't. Doing some seasonals and checking VGTs etc - I was doing all that because of habit. Once the DS3 broke and I was forced to shell out 40 euros to continue playing - it was not worth it.

The major reason for me is that all cars started feel too similar to each other. That was even before the DS3 debacle.

So I turned off the PS3 and not played GT6 in 2 months.

I still check the updates and might give it a go with that LMP2 car.

Since there's really nothing at this point that would pull me back in either, I've pretty much moved on - but I assume that's more due to my own personal preferences these days and therefore no longer being part of GT's target audience. I'm still fond of the idea of having to ''work my way up'', but without good AI, poor engine sounds and without an engaging career mode, it all falls apart quickly.

I'd rather not bring up B-Spec, which was a missed opportunity of epic proportions and the silence regrading the Course Maker, which is just disheartening.

With that said, PD have obviously done some good things to GT6 since its' release in terms of updates - the Senna content and re-introducing Midfield just the off the top of my head - but none of them weighs up the game's/series' remaining shortcomings that is in need of serious attention and addressing, things that I can/could no longer look past.

I own it, play it. Although not on a regular basis, but sometimes I do pick this game and go for a ride around La Sierra or race on online Dirty NASCAR rooms.

I played it yesterday for the first time this year and I couldn't play more than 15 minutes. There was just nothing to do for me and it became quite boring to look into online lobbies only to be either booted for not having a mic or having the racing be dirtier than a pig in mud during a flood

I only plays for the vgt cars, and the time trails. Gt6 doesn't have the "long lasting fun" that Gt2 and Gt4 had. PD has put all it's effort in the online part of the game. And therfore neglected the campaign...I loved the messy and explorable menu in Gt4 and Gt2. It made the game.....better and bigger....for some reason:odd:

Own it. Stopped playing in December. Started playing again few weeks ago... changing my driving style to manual and cockpit... practicing for Project CARS. :D

PS - I don't understand the ridiculous debate of authentic tracks vs fantasy tracks. No debate IMO. Give me authentic tracks all day, every day.

I still have it after over a year and i just bought a logitech g27 and frankly, having a blast. I've also recently started to practise drifting a little bit, which is ofcourse a bit more difficult than with a ds3.

I've kinda retired from playing GT6 as a whole. I mean, there's no doubt the GT series is great, but it hasn't been as perfect as I thought it would. I always come back when new content is released though, and usually it's very good. After all the news I've heard and stuff, I'm giving Gran Turismo 7 a chance when it comes out (unlike some people who had given up on GT altogether). I've seen what the PS4 can do and I'm not surprised that everyone is looking forward to Project CARS. I've seen the trailer and looks excellent. But I really do think that GT7 will be awesome. I personally haven't played GT6 in a while due to schoolwork and recently a hand injury which has made it much harder to use my wheel.
In short: When I get the chance I still play the game, but I mainly tune cars.

Own it play it about 3 times a month mostly play when their is new seasonal events or when a new update comes out.

I'll at least put the disc in everyday to keep my bonus up, and I usually play at least a few races on Nurburgring most days but I was disappointed with the so called "improved physics" everyone told me it had that caused me to buy it. I had a showroom stock Alpha Romeo FF with like 147hp and was racing in a beginner race on London, in the 1st turn I had to brake hard due to traffic and literally flipped the car over the front bumper, Hard Comfort tires, stock brakes, explain to me how that could happen with REAL physics. I would have flipped my moms PT Cruiser dozens of times if you could slam on brakes in a straight line without being hit from behind, hell even hit from behind this wouldn't happen. I began to laugh at the cars rear end rising up so high looking like African dung beetles running around. lol But really, despite the extremely short races, I mean You don't even get a 5 lap race until the games 80% complete I don't really regret buying it. I've loved the series, it's the first game I can remember playing as a little girl. Racing with my dad and brother, by GT4 I could beat them and was hooked, but GT5 and 6 have disillusioned me alot They're just not the same exciting game as they were back then. The seasonals kept me interested until the last 3 expert races became pretty much unbeatable for me. I'm forced to use certain cars and going to Praiano (hope I spelled that right) for tunes just to have a chance to get bronze on the last 2, yet to play this newest one, all 3 levels are on less than fun tracks.

Own it, don't play it. GT6 honestly gotten boring for me as it was quickly losing my intrest. I would have kept playing it if the CM was added, but sadly it never did and it seems that it'll never will. Right now I play other games and work on my series (two series now) that are far more enjoyable than GT6 ever be.

Not only that. I also dislike PD and how the manage their games nowadays (GT6). After this title my faith in them became non existant to even care about GT7. Basically, I've moved on and haven't looked back since.

Harsh words and there's still time for the CM to be added =)

Since PD only been giving us arcade fantasy cars lately, I've stopped playing GT6 and played another game that does arcade racing better and is way more fun. Mario kart 8.

Still have the disc but have since swapped out my PS3 for a PS4 so unless they do a remaster in the far future it wont be touched again.

Hadn't played it for about a year after ditching my old dying ps3. Visited my folks last weekend and whilst looking around in the attic, found a 160gb ps3, fired it up, still worked so got gt6 out again and I'm glad I'm playing it again. Game has come a long way update wise since I last played it last January.

Strange place to leave it

I did something similar. I stopped playing in November 2014 as I needed a break from gt6 and I'd got my ps4 but went back to have a look at Midfield circuit recently and pick up all the vision cars that were coming out at once and got hooked again.

This doesn't mean people are necessarily playing the game regularly (as some people will just boot up the game get the VGT and put it away again), but just for some additional info I did the vw super lap yesterday. My first silver lap I was 132,000 approx in the rankings and even my gold lap was 70,000+ higher than I expected at this stage (but that's just my opinion).

Agreed, very much. The difference between cars seems really stale, but could that just be familiarization with the models?

Well, I was in a Dino at R246 today and it sure didn't feel like the GT24 Scirocco I was blasting around the Red Bull Ring.

My PS3 died and only play GT6 when visiting friends and family. Hope to get a PS3/GT6 soon so I can get bored with it.
lol

I own it still play it almost daily. I have issues with the game like any other game but I do enjoy it.

I own it since Friday 6th, 2013 and it is the game I play most. I love hotlapping, racing online and especially buying and tuning cars to certain PP limits.

This improves my tuning skills and my driving skills.

Owned on May 25, 2014 and I still play this gamer even after playing 3 games on the other platform, for some reason GT keeps me coming back and I haven't bought new games since then.

Seriously the poll proves there are lots of people playing GT6, and yet half of response here don't play GT and complains how awful is the game and prefers the other game which are far beyond the PS3 power (compairing old and new game is highly unlikely).

The poll proves that a lot of people that come to GTPlanet still play the game. What other result would you expect? Why would people not prefer newer games on better hardware?

It's been a while since I've played, so long that I can't even remember the last time it was. I think February. But of course I have to have the most extenuating circumstances in the world.

I've been entangled in engineering an album for a friend who's doing mostly the one man band thing, a few guests here and there including yours truly, and at the end of November it became crunch time. And this crunch ended up lasting well into this year! Supposedly he was all hot to emigrate to Israel, but is still slumming around town somewhere last I heard. Pretty demanding (argh!), but really talented guy. So there was that.

Then I made the mistake of seeing my autocrossing relative playing Deus Ex Human Revolution, and had to get it. I always dive head first into a good game so I played it every minute of free time I could get, beat it, and then started over.

And THEN made the mistake of seeing him playing Valkyria Chronicles, a wonderful game from SEGA, and am still embroiled in it because the characters are wonderful and quite endearing.

Having said all that though, the Gran Turismo withdrawal bug has been eating at me, and I made the mistake of peeking at some of the latest P CARS videos. And... JohnnyP will undoubtedly love this, it made me hungrier than ever to play GT6 again. :D Now just to make sure our dear friend Johnny doesn't implode, or explode, I do intend to get a PS4 and a wheel this month just to play P CARS.

But memo to those who insist that GT6 isn't worth playing, this is hardly a universal view, if you'd bother to check the poll, and out of all my racing games, GT6 is the one which tickles my wheel grab addiction. Our own Lawndart, a guy in the industry who also races in real life, who says that other games like iRacing have more authentic physics, still says that GT6 as a total package has something tangibly wholesome and real about it. In the new Codemasters DiRT Rally video, the reviewer mentions that while Gran Turismo has a few issues here and there, the passion of Kazunori Yamauchi shines through in the quality of the game and makes it worth playing. amar212, Jordan who could perhaps afford that $10 grand four point hydraulic racing rig and any game he could want, still pumps up GT6. If Gran Turismo wasn't all that, no one would lie about it out in the real world.

The major reason for me is that all cars started feel too similar to each other.
This is hardly a criticism limited to Gran Turismo. In the Toca series, the GTRs, Forza... I could go on and on, most of the differences between the cars is in their racket and their performance. Mid-engined race cars are evidently much more poised and balanced, because the same civilian cars in GT or Forza can be extremely hard to race without modding and tuning. And if the developer exaggerates the kinetics of the cars for the sake of "difference," they run the risk of making the car inauthentic, and those who know or own the cars will complain. When the ONLY feedback you have with a virtual machine like this is your wheel controller and some tire noise, making those differences tangible can be... well, a little hard to put it mildly.
