I think the argument that the inclusion of nascar takes too much development time is invalid. I’ll bet that development time of the nascars shown at E3 is miniscule compared to the dev-time of WRC, DTM, LMP, Super GT, etc.
-There are only 4 nascar manufactures (ford chevy dodge toyota) all of which have minor differences, mainly interior and pain schemes.
–Car settings shouldn't take long to dev once you create the manufacture’s specific template.
-The most dev time probably comes from modeling nascar tracks, two of which were in gt4 so most of the track data has already been collected. Track modeling is done by a completely different team anyway.
-The tracks listed so far (Indy, Daytona, Infineon, Laguna Seca) are not nascar specific as they are also used by other forms of motorsport.
I'd argue that the inclusion of WRC would take up much more dev-time because of the variety of cars, variations and tracks that must be created for the sport, not to mention dirt effects, off road handling vs on road.
On a side note, I seriously doubt that PD will include official races for nascar, wrc, or even super gt. If they do, then it's not like you will have a complete season as not every track will be represented etc. I don’t understand why so many people are hating on nascar. I say the more the cars/tracks the merrier.
Am I a nascar fan? No, I do not follow the sport.
Do I think nascar is hated on unfairly by gtplanet? Absolutely.
Am I happy PD included it? Yes, I can compare nascar to other cars and try something new.
Will I get flamed for giving my opinions? Probably…
