no one has still answered the question i posed. why are 99% of the survivors black? where are the white guys?

just saying what i, and many around the world can plainly see. why cant you?

Maybe the reason why you’re seeing a lot of blacks is, because there are a lot of blacks. Nearly 70% of the population in New Orleans is African American.

Also, a large number of the African-Americans living in the affected areas are poor, which means they didn’t have the means to evacuate in time.

BTW, Please tell me you didn't vote for the guy as well as swartzinmyass. :grumpy:
I'm Japanese, remember? I couldn't have voted for Bush........ I'd have voted for Schwarzenegger though. :D

Because most of New Orleans is black! Bloody friggin’ hell, are you expecting the population to suddenly turn white (à la Michael Jackson) after a disaster strikes? If Tokyo were hit with a ginormous earthquake, would you ask "Why are 99% of the survivors Japanese?" Use some common sense, will you?

I never liked Kanye west, I never liked jesus either so when he raps about jesus my ears bleed twice as much.

Very true. And from the news the city and local government knew the poeple were too poor to evacuate if something bad happend so for someone to say they had warinigs and should have left seems a bit shallow.

Here's a better link: http://www.juiceenewsdaily.com/0605/news/west.html?1125709350109

I didn't think it'd be possible to hate Kanye West more, but I was wrong.

ITR and I were just talking about how Kanye West would be a better role model to children than other rap artists. Boy, were we wrong! Seems like they are all the same, preaching hatred of anyone but African Americans.

Kayne isn't a good rap artist anyway. He thinks he is God's gift to rap. Good riddance to Kanye, his career is over.

The only "big" rapper who'd be positive role model in my eyes is Del Tha Funky Homosapien. (minus a few things, but whatever)

I won't go any further, as it'd be off topic. But it just goes to show how disasters can bring out the best in people. If that's Kanye's truth, then he is obviously lost and doesn't deserve the respect he's given.

As an formerly-avid fan of rap music, I can say that the entire premise of rap music was to claim onself king, emperor, or god. That, or thanking your DJ in a song for holding up the rest of an otherwise weak album. But since DJ's are virtually non-existant to the world of rap as we know it today, the second statement I made is presently null and void.

George Bush went on TV to state that even he wasn't impressed by the situation. Of course, we're all armchair relief workers right now, how many of us are actually there helping out, or making a donation?

I gave blood, no money though since well I don't have much right now.

Last time I got stuck with a needle they lady doing it was fishing for tendents and actually hit a nerve sending an electricity sensation up and down my arm. The next week it was numb or weak. The ****ed up part was I COULD SEE MY OWN DAMN VEINS. WTF!? :irked:

the way george bush and the american government have handled this disaster is disgraceful palin and simple. its no coincidence that 99% of the survivors are black, if this disaster had happened in middle america it would be a totally different story.

i will admit that natural disasters on this scale are rare, but there must of been a contingency plan in place incase such a disaster did happened. well judging by the efforst so far, it is plainly clear that the govenment was caught without a plan, and with its pants down. thousands of americans had laready lost their lives needlesly because of of the governments incompetance.
how anyone can defend george bush when you see the reactions of the people in new orleans is beyond me. ive always said that he was an idiot, and as usual, george bush hasnt disappointed me. the desperate scenes i have seen on tv should shame every american that sees them.

george bush has often bandied the words 'regime change', well its time his incompetent regime was changed. hes a pathetic leader, and inspires little confidence in his own people. proof of this is with his popularity, which is already at an all time low. a nation as great as america, needs a true leader, not an idiot in charge.

What will you guys come up with next?
Now I've seen everything. Once, again, people are blaiming the government for Racial issues.

And the people complaining down there....my god, some of those people are so full of ****. I don't care how bad you were hurt, maybe if you quit eatin' so d*mn much, you wouldn't think you need more food. I don't know how many over weight people I've seen on TV, but its a lot.

The looters after the TVs=stupid
The rebel shooters=stupid
The people wantin' more and more and not appreciating the help they get now=
Stupid.

We're trying to help you and and then you shoot at us? NO WONDER THE MILITARY CAN'T HELP YOU! D*mn....I'm going to side with Bush's team here.

Its your OWN d*mn fault those of you with cars stayed.
What's even worse if right after the hurricane, the people went and started looting. And now, they're burning down buildings.

Hell, I'd help those of sick, young, and elderly.
Here's an idea! 💡

Leave the 300 pound woman who seems perfectly fine, and get the sick and elderly out of there. They need help the most and they need to be on the 1st buses out of there. Not big ass there.

This is just a statistical exercise, so don't draw any conclusions from it, but...

IF Zaggin is correct, in that 99% of people left in New Orleans are black, this makes a population ratio of 99:1, black to white.
IF tabs is correct, in that 70% of people originally in New Orleans were black, this makes a population ratio of 70:30, black to white.

In order to get to 99:1 from 70:30, you need to evacuate nearly THREE THOUSAND TIMES as many white people as black people. This also means that nearly SEVEN THOUSAND TIMES as many black people couldn't or wouldn't leave as white people. Statistically speaking, this is utterly ridiculous, and if both numbers are correct (and I suspect the 99% one isn't - it's just what the news crews choose to show us) then there is something fundamentally wrong...

I hate pompous rap. Rap, especially, is self-reflexive. It just goes to show you who's who and what some rappers are all about.

In this case, we see Kanye, with a blatant disregard for the charity, redirecting the focus to his selfish self. This is why Hollywood is the biggest BS trip in the history of man.

Looks like stuff is finally being done in NO, though. 👍 Better late than never. You can't exactly go back in time at this point.

I noticed. I was just highlighting the fact that my post was just a calculation based on two numbers.

wow police killed contractors going to patch up a levy. :nervous: thats not good. or not... now they said some guys trying to kill the contractors were shot, Sorry if i'm wrong but it just became news. :nervous:

I'm hearing from people who lived in the area of the flood are now saying the people shooting at helicopters and rescure workers were cops. Cops who were set on robbing banks, industral equipment, alcohol, jewelry, collectibles, etc. and needed more time to do so. They said over 20% of the police force quit, went looting, stayed home or just plain left the state.

A lot of info is coming in now, and we have to sit by and wait to see what actually happened and what is actually true. But if what was said above was true, it looks like LA officials have some cleaning up to do after the clean up of their state is done.

I went shooting today(in Oregon), and my friend was saying that the news he watched said that gangs were shooting at the cops on rescue and also reporters, including their choppers. What is going on here?. Cops quitting their job at times like this is bad enough. If they are actually turning to illegal activities, I hope they receive the maximum penalty. 👎

No one knows the actual number as I heard 2/3's and thats far more than 20%, most cops know their homes are gone, they are not getting paid, and some people will try to kill them if they can. Cops are quiting because they fear for their safty.

14 contractors wre shot at by poeple and the cops shot them not the contractors. None of these reports are accurate once they break the news kinda like the whole RSX is less powerful than a 7800GTX which was jumped on by xbox fans and spread all over the net but in the end the true story was its more powerfull than the 7800GTX.

Kuwait is sending 500 million dollars in aid + Fuel
cuba has 1100 doctors on standby, the irony.
Iran is sending aid
Afghanistan is send 100,000 dollars, they shouldn't send aid they need money for their people they're too poor, but i commend their effort.
russia france and briatin all sending aid.

funny how the world turns.

Yes, it is more than 20% by now. The report I read was in the first two days, 20% of the cops left their jobs. I didn't make that clear enough. Also, 3 cops have commited suicide since a week ago. Unbelievable...

I just found this, and it's a great read.

A few truths, for those who have ears and eyes and care to know the truth: by Ben Stein

1.) The hurricane that hit New Orleans and Mississippi and Alabama was an astonishing tragedy. The suffering and loss of life and peace of mind of the residents of those areas is acutely horrifying.

2.) George Bush did not cause the hurricane. Hurricanes have been happening for eons. George Bush did not create them or unleash this one.

3.) George Bush did not make this one worse than others. There have been far worse hurricanes than this before George Bush was born.

4.) There is no overwhelming evidence that global warming exists as a man-made phenomenon. There is no clear-cut evidence that global warming even exists. There is no clear evidence that if it does exist it makes hurricanes more powerful or makes them aim at cities with large numbers of poor people. If global warming is a real phenomenon, which it may well be, it started long before George Bush was inaugurated, and would not have been affected at all by the Kyoto treaty, considering that Kyoto does not cover the world's worst polluters -- China, India, and Brazil. In a word, George Bush had zero to do with causing this hurricane. To speculate otherwise is belief in sorcery.

5.) George Bush had nothing to do with the hurricane contingency plans for New Orleans. Those are drawn up by New Orleans and Louisiana. In any event, the plans were perfectly good: mandatory evacuation. It is in no way at all George Bush's fault that about 20 percent of New Orleans neglected to follow the plan. It is not his fault that many persons in New Orleans were too confused to realize how dangerous the hurricane would be. They were certainly warned. It's not George Bush's fault that there were sick people and old people and people without cars in New Orleans. His job description does not include making sure every adult in America has a car, is in good health, has good sense, and is mobile.

6.) George Bush did not cause gangsters to shoot at rescue helicopters taking people from rooftops, did not make gang bangers rape young girls in the Superdome, did not make looters steal hundreds of weapons, in short make New Orleans into a living hell.

7.) George Bush is the least racist President in mind and soul there has ever been and this is shown in his appointments over and over. To say otherwise is scandalously untrue.

8.) George Bush is rushing every bit of help he can to New Orleans and Mississippi and Alabama as soon as he can. He is not a magician. It takes time to organize huge convoys of food and now they are starting to arrive. That they get in at all considering the lawlessness of the city is a miracle of bravery and organization.

9.) There is not the slightest evidence at all that the war in Iraq has diminished the response of the government to the emergency. To say otherwise is pure slander.

10.) If the energy the news media puts into blaming Bush for an Act of God worsened by stupendous incompetence by the New Orleans city authorities and the malevolence of the criminals of the city were directed to helping the morale of the nation, we would all be a lot better off.

11.) New Orleans is a great city with many great people. It will recover and be greater than ever. Sticking pins into an effigy of George Bush that does not resemble him in the slightest will not speed the process by one day.

12.) The entire episode is a dramatic lesson in the breathtaking callousness of government officials at the ground level. Imagine if Hillary Clinton had gotten her way and they were in charge of your health care.

God bless all of those dear people who are suffering so much, and God bless those helping them, starting with George Bush.

UPDATE: Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, 2:13 p.m.:

More Mysteries of Katrina:

Why is it that the snipers who shot at emergency rescuers trying to save people in hospitals and shelters are never mentioned except in passing, and Mr. Bush, who is turning over heaven and earth to rescue the victims of the storm, is endlessly vilified?

What church does Rev. Al Sharpton belong to that believes in passing blame and singling out people by race for opprobrium and hate?

What special abilities does the media have for deciding how much blame goes to the federal government as opposed to the city government of New Orleans for the aftereffects of Katrina?

If able-bodied people refuse to obey a mandatory evacuation order for a city, have they not assumed the risk that ill effects will happen to them?

When the city government simply ignores its own sick and hospitalized and elderly people in its evacuation order, is Mr. Bush to blame for that?

Is there any problem in the world that is not Mr. Bush's fault, or have we reverted to a belief in a sort of witchcraft where we credit a mortal man with the ability to create terrifying storms and every other kind of ill wind?

Where did the idea come from that salvation comes from hatred and criticism and mockery instead of love and co-operation?
