That is pretty nice all around, that said, I find the steering wheel ghastly.

Looks like they've created copied an iDrive system too.

Cross an IS350 with a 335i, add a dash of Azera, and you pretty much get the Genesis. I don't care much for that grille with the HUGE oval cut-out, or the giant quasi-Lincoln badge set in the steering wheel, but it all looks pretty decent otherwise.

If the top-gun sedan moves in for under $30K like I think it will, my God, it will be one of the biggest steals of the century... "Out-Lexusing" Lexus.

But is there a slot above the nav screen that allows you to play "Sonic the Hedgehog?"

XD

Okay, I'm not sold on the grille, either, and, at the moment, it looks....well...not sporty. More like a Lexus LS, which makes me think it's what the LS used to be: a very good RWD Buick.

Wow! I first thought I was viewing a Lexus LS 450...

-> I think that funky-looking grille won't be on the export model outside Korea, I think it will be more subtle if is going to be marketed globally just like some JDM cars. ;)

-> Or maybe for the use of radar-guided cruise control like MBZ and Lexus, but I know that they will work their way around it.

Who cares if it copies someone else--as I see it if it copies other cars and does it for less I say that is a victory. Good looks, great interior, good build quality, a V8, and its cheap? Looks like a winner to me.

i understand what you guys mean by "it is car and will look like other cars", but i just wanted to post this.

you can kind of see the resemblence in the front end, but that doesn't matter to me. i still like it, especially that interior:drool:. the price is right and it has V8 power. it looks like we have a winner.

Hey guys... did you know that 80 years ago, cars were pretty much indistinguishable?

But today they are. You can't sell a car that looks like another car today on the basis that "80 years ago, cars all looked the same."

philly cheese
You can't sell a car that looks like another car today on the basis that "80 years ago, cars all looked the same."
Toyota did it for 40 years. And when Toyota stopped doing it, they created the Lexus brand so Lexus could do it.

Anyways, I will wait and see if the rear end turns out as nice as it was on the concept, but the front end is kind of a wash. I saw it and instantly though "Chinese Lexus knock-off." The grill is rather odd, but then again, we may not get it on ours. And even if we do, the grill itself isn't too hard of a thing to replace (and since this one is shaped and sized right, it could transform the front of the car easily).

I have to say, I don't like the grille, at all. That MUST be changed, immediately...

For that kind of money, performance and presumed quality, the only other alternative that will come anywhere close to that would be the $30K Pontiac G8 GT. But that may be a bit "too harsh" for the older folks who will be buying this. My suggestion?

Dear General Motors,

Given how awesome this new Hyundai Genesis is, please tell me that you have plans to not back down without a fight. Clearly, the Chinese-market Park Avenue (based on the Zeta chassis) could easily compete against this Korean powerhouse. Similar power outputs and other options make it a simple means of certifying the car for North American sales, it could be an instant hit... Simply put, the Lucerne won't be enough. I hope someone is reading this. This Korean car is too awesome. Please help...

Sincerely,

YSSMAN, a concerned GM fan

That interior is just the business. Better than any Toyota/Lexus, Nissan, or even BMW interior I've ever seen. The exterior is ok, I don't prefer the grille however. But, that doesn't detract me away from how brilliant the car is in every other possible way.

Oh and this caught my eye:

WORLD-CLASS TAU V8
Headlining the Genesis' performance capabilities is Hyundai's all-new Tau 4.6-liter V8 engine mated to a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC® manual control. The Tau V8 delivers an estimated 368 horsepower to fit the demands of performance-oriented consumers. Unlike many competitors and most premium sedans, it achieves this impressive power output using regular unleaded fuel – further demonstration of Hyundai's commitment to value. This powertrain combination will launch Genesis to 60 miles per hour in less than six seconds. The Tau produces more horsepower and torque than the powerplants found in Lexus GS450, BMW 750i, Audi A8 and Infiniti M45 and has more horsepower per liter than any of its V8 competitors. The Tau engine is built with flexibility for the future. Future Tau variants may offer larger displacement, forced induction options and other technology enhancements.

STRONG LAMBDA V6 PERFORMANCE
Genesis also delivers spirited performance through its two V6 options -- all-aluminum 3.3-liter and 3.8-liter DOHC V6 engines that deliver an estimated 268 horsepower and 233 lb-ft. of torque and an estimated 290 horsepower and 264 lb.-ft. of torque, respectively. To maximize the power spread, the engines utilize Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) on intake and exhaust cam shafts and a new Variable Intake System (VIS) that helps cylinders breathe efficiently at low and high RPM. The better breathing results in outstanding off-the-line acceleration and passing performance, and remarkable fuel efficiency. The V6 engines use an alloy block and cylinder heads for lighter weight and thermal efficiency, and feature timing chains with no scheduled maintenance.

Yssman, why would they introduce a Buick which is a carbon copy of the G8? That's what killed GM in the past.

It's longer, softer, more appealing to the older buyer who'd look at a Genesis. The Pontiac is aimed at a younger executive crowd, thus it's a bit firmer.

[pun4fun] I SEE NO SEGA CARTRIDGE PORT. I am apalled. [/pun4fun]

The concept looked better and I just have this feeling that the interior will be really cheap.

It has a nicer interior and a softer suspension, but alas, it isn't much different than the G8. Someone is getting the Statesman/Caprice, sometime. I just don't know if it will be Buick or Chevrolet...

The interior looks spectacular. The grill though, looks like something off a Chinese Automaker. Body reminds me of a LS model as well.

Sorry, don't see it in there. Those are beautiful grills. The design of the Hyundai's is still ugly, and still looks like a Chinese car's.
Mercedes also doesn't give its grills that fin-like curve which is the reason I think it's ugly.

I don't see what you're talking about. The front end looks like a cross between the S and the RL to me. Perhaps you could post a photo...

I'm talking about what I circled. Those fin-like curves in the grill make it look ugly, worse that the center, vertical portion sticks outward.

I think if they offer a blacked-out grille with chrome around the outside and just hung a "flying 'H'" in there it would look fine...

That's fine. I still think it looks like something a Chinese automaker created....

Can you post a pic of a Chinese car that looks like that so that I can see where you're coming from? I searched for one and didn't find anything similar.
