Can you post a pic of a Chinese car that looks like that so that I can see where you're coming from? I searched for one and didn't find anything similar.

Ssangyong?

It's pretty close, but...no fin.

New Superbowl Ads for the Genesis

...I'm wondering what kind of impact this will have with the football fans...

I hate the grill. BUT, I really hope that Hyundai sells a ton of these. I know that the Genesis Coupe is on my list of future cars to consider. Go Hyundai.

Geez... lets rip off an Infiniti Dash. xD

I am so sick. Of walking into a thread about a car and seeing comments like 'It looks like XYZ'. STOPPIT. ITS A CAR. CARS HAVE A TENDENCY TO LOOK ALIKE IN CERTAIN WAYS.

I'm completely in love with this car. I for one love the grille the way it is, I've "come around" to it. I can't wait to see one of these bad boys in person. 375bhp isn't anything to sneeze at either. For $30k USD even for the V6 model I'd say that is a CRACKING good deal.

Autoblog drives the Genesis Sedan!

Very interesting, seems it's living up to hype. I would love to see a worldwide comparison of each company's fastest sedan around the ring. Imagine that, then we would know which companies really have the fastest sedans in the world, and which handle best. This is pretty damn quick for a Hyundai, but I hope the top speed for the V8 is actually higher than 145mph.

Does this thing fit in the full size or mid size category?

Either way, I'd lump this car into the group of "wanna-be" luxuries trying to be Mercs or BMWs but not quite making the cut and becoming lost in the hub-bub of the Japanese luxury market.

Full size. It's probably bigger than Commodore/G8. I think it's a cool car, and judging by the tests, I'd take one over a Merc or Bimmer..........then make that V8 roar with some healthy mods.:D

Damn, I am loving this car. I love the fit of an E-class, and I fit very comfortably in Infiniti's M, so I can only imagine how great this will potentially be. I wonder if the Tau V8 makes this thing faster than the G8 will be. Makes me want to forget all about the Pontiac. And the V8 gets only 1 less mile to the gallon? Wow.

Man, that Autoblog article really is good news. I have a Hyundai Accent and lol'd so hard at their comment: "1. We drove a Hyundai at 145 mph and didn't have any concerns about it." My Accent doesn't go past 80.

Who knows... I might have a Hyundai family if the coupe and sedan turn out rock solid and I fit in the coupe.

 on your comments regarding their comments about Hyundais.
I highly doubt it could outlap a G8, being luxury orientated and bigger, but still a very nice car. Don't forget the Pontiac! I would love to see a comparo/race between them.

Found a cool Korean review of the V6 Genesis in Premium (one step above base) trim.

I wonder if the V8 has the same limitations that he describes.

^ Well its a KDM model, I bet it would be drastically different overseas.

-> I'd take this one over any Audi/MBZ/BMW as my potential cruiser, parallel to the G8 GXP as the 'Sport Saloon'. I should say I'll change that stupid grille to this:

^ Some aftermarket dude will sell this thing someday.

^ And give it a good VIP setup with a KDM flavor. ;)

Why are they comparing it to mid size cars like the 5-er and E-class? Shouldn't it be up against the S-Class and 7-Series? Are they just sliding down the market ladder to find a car that won't completely trounce this thing?

Its price/size is against the 5er and the E-class... Not to mention the Cadillac CTS (its closest competitor) and the obligatory M-series and GS-class. I'm all for it, the Hyundai that is, but meh... Its not that spectacular. I'll have to see it in person eventually, but if its coming in at the mid/high $30K range and topping out in the $40s... I'd rather support my local workers and get a car of similar quality, the Cadillac CTS 3.6 DIG.

Which reminds me... Pricing is out too:

Autoblog
Hyundai has finally announced pricing for its first attempt at a serious luxury sedan, and when sales begin later this June, buyers content with the 3.8-liter V6's 290 horses can get behind the wheel of the Genesis sedan for $33,000.

The entry-level Genesis 3.8 will come equipped with an Aisin six-speed automatic transmission and will include 17-inch alloys, fog lamps, dual-power heated side mirrors, heated leather seats, cruise control, a proximity sensor, a push-button start, dual-zone climate control, an auto-dimming mirror with Homelink and a compass, along with front, side and side-curtain airbags.

The Hyundai Genesis 4.6, equipped with the 375 hp, 4.6-liter V8 and ZF six-speed automatic gearbox will be priced at $38,000 and equipped with 18-inch rollers, chrome exterior moldings, a leather wrapped dash, "ultra-premium" leather seats, a tilt and slide glass sunroof, power tilt and telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel with memory function, a 15-speaker Lexicon premium sound system, power rear sunshade, rain-sensing wipers, and all the other equipment found on the 3.8 version. Both prices include the $750 shipping charge.

Not too bad. Not bad at all. Still liking the Caddy better though...

-> I can't wait to see a huge comparison (maybe by C/D) to see which is which:

1. Hyundai Genesis V8
2. Cadillac STS V8
3. BMW 550i or 555i
4. MB E 500
5. Volvo S80
6. Acura RL
7. Saab 9-5 Aero
8. Audi A6 4.2
9. Lexus GS460
10. Infiniti M45
11. Chrysler 300C
12. Jaguar XF 4.2 V8
13. Pontiac G8 GT
14. Buick Lucerne CXS

^ Its going to be a good mash-up. Other than the G8, I'll root the Genesis just for the fun of it. ;)

Wheelbase and length-wise, the STS and Genesis fit pretty nicely in between the midsize and full size cars offered by other companies, both leaning toward the full size side of things.

I just don't really see the point of directly comparing cars of two different sizes. The wheelbase is a good 2 or three inches longer than the E or 5 and the car is a few inches longer as well. You can't compare the interiors, because it's pretty obvious that the Genesis should have a far better interior being quite different in size.

However, like the STS, it can't really be compared with either the mid size or the full size cars, being a different size from each.

Again, score one for Hyundai. I bet this thing will be brlliant and sell very well. I wonder what TopGear will think of it...

10-1 the Saab finishes last.

It'd be a race between the Saab and the Volvo for last place, particularly if its the S80 with the V8 and the outrageous sticker price. Then I'd go Buick, Chrysler, and so on...

My money would be on the Jaguar XF actually. Of course I'd be rooting for the G8.:sly:

Where is the gearstick on the Jag? I can't stand its interior. The air ducts blow right on your knuckles, unlike the ones in the Genesis.

Anyone think the Tau V8 will be able to fit into the coupe? That would make for a wicked Frankenstein.

hyundai engineers say no. but whether or not they just mean "we dont want to invest the money in trying to find a way to cram this thing in there" remains to be seen.

What!? I love it!

Its a fresh breath of air in an increasingly stogy market... But then again, I've always had a thing for Jaguar's otherwise "ancient" interiors. I think I've used the word "character" to describe it more than once...
