The Ai in the Sunday Cup (and many races in the beginning) doesn't know how to brake effectively. Either they're braking too much, or too early, or they make additional taps on the brake mid-corner that are completely unnecessary.

I'm still unclear whether Racer Boy is talking about the Sunday Cup or some other race. First he says he can't beat "the first 5 races of a series", implying a race-series that has more than 5 races. And then he changed the topic...now he's claiming he's having trouble finishing the license tests. Forget it. I'm putting way too much thought into this thread.

Reminds me of when I did the Sunday Cup. Every time I tried to pass the Nissan Move mid corner, he hit his brakes, causing me to slam into him. All I could say was "Move!"

Hahaha, I kinda sorta slaughtered the Sunday Cup. I dont even remember what I used to do it. Might have been the Suzuki GSX R/4. Of course thats after I lost my save twice in a week and just popped in the gameshark. That car is crazy though.

I took a MX-5 to the Sunday cup yesterday with the same settings as him... Annihilated it... But as everybody has been been saying, practice. It's the only thing that will get you good enough to keep playing later on. Unlike NFS, you can't just tune the car and expect it to drive it's self.

Need for speed is actually quite hard if you try to use the same car from start to finish though. I've started two saves on Most Wanted, each with a different starting car, first save I have a Fiat Punto completely maxxed out and I couldnt beat it and ended up getting so many tickets thast my car got impounded and I got pissed off at it. Second save I started off with an Lexus IS300 and got pretty far but then I got bored, so I stopped playing and moved onto Carbon. Carbon made me want to kill myself because my cars magically didnt want to turn alot of the time on sharp turns and c:censored:. I eventually lost the game somewhere in my room and have not found it ever since. Not that I tried looking for it. After Need For Speed got too difficult for me I decided I'd try out my gt4 game that I never played, GT4 has a steep learning curve for beginners, I learned that and got quickly pissed off at it just like I did at the NFS series. But honestly just practice and you will get better, and if you have to, just keep going to gynkhama test course and try to drive the yellow lines a bunch until you can drive your car through them. The key to Gt4 is Throttle Modulation, and Braking, without the two you will easily lose interest in the game.

Still, there is no better thing than practice. As the old saying goes, "Practice makes perfect"

Lol. I find GT4 considerably easier than the NFS Series. Probably because I like physics. NFS has no physics, its just like *mash x button and hold nitrous, HEY LOOK I WON*.

I won without nitrous once. :sly:

I find GT4 easier too, but thats because the NFS AI drive unrealistically fast. It's a Peugeot 206, it has NO CHANCE IN HELL of keeping up with a Skyline or S2000 or something of that level. No chance! But somehow the AI can indeed do that.

GT4 AI know that a 206 can't beat a 911bhp Skyline, so they don't try. :P

Interesting.

No chance in hell? Haven't you seen the Civette?!

That's right, a 500 Horsepower LS1 sitting in a converted rear wheel drive civic hatchback.
12.16 in this vid for a quarter mile, there are vids of it doing 11.1.

If they can do that, a 206 CAN keep up

...or GT just isn't his stuff or "thang". keep practicing and oh, GT isn't like any other racing game out there.., you need mad skillz, speed comes secondary, unlike NFS.., :D:tup:

@ VTiRoj - hi five, i won a few times without nitrous, just my skills are enough for the crappy AI :D to add to that, i don't equip my cars with NOS on NFS.., :D

I've seen the Civette, freaking awesome. :D

I did mean a 206 without a Corvette V8 though, or a tranny swap. But yeah, c'mon, how many FWD hatchbacks can accelerate as fast as a high power 4WD without drag slicks or TC?

=drifting24/7=: High five! :D No NOS on NFS? What?!

Well...... sounds like me when I played GT/GT2 when I was 8/9! :dopey:
Back then, I couldn't even race properly and I had my older cousins do the license test for me. :sly: The only race I could do was high speed ring, super speedway and test course. Easy money since my cousin played 30+% of the game for me. But yeah, after a few years, I got the hang of it and dominate the AI and even started to try drifting. :D

Its all about having confidence and a will to continue and of course, PRACTICE!!!! You cant go anywhere if you don't practice.......

The sunday cup! beginers??

o and i cant beat the drivers liscence b! i cant beat all of the test, and i barley finish with bronze
Considering this was his last activity on the forum, I suspect he didn't get the answer he wanted to hear. More power to him if he's just been busy practicing, though.

Yeah, right! He probly went right back to the game store and swapped GT4 for a copy of Burnout's Revenge!

Hey I am still here!!!

I did not trade it in either I basiclly with a gift car got it for bout $10.00 so it was a good deal anyways

Sorry If I have not posted anything!!!:ouch:

Aww dude, don't mind us...we're just havin a little fun. But now that you're here, you can clear this up I hope. When you started this thread, were you talking about the Sunday Cup? Or licenses? Or some other races?

@ Racer_Boy - just like everyone here says, PRACTICE. observe the AI cars and try to follow their racing line. examine their braking points, where they go flat out, etc. keep doing that, and you'll soon be finding ways on how to outsmart the AI.., 👍

So I should not restart and get a car with more horsepower?

The Miata is a great car to start with. That's what I started out wioth in GT3. And if I didn't flag my data to GT4 I would have started out with it again.:grumpy: But yeah, the wing is useless until you get into about 500-600hp. And also I find weight reduction(only stage 1 in beggining) to be great. I assume you don't have GT3 data so with your 10,000 credits you should buy a miata (if that's what you want) and basic hp ups like racing chip, port polish(when you get more money) and a clutch.

Good to hear that you're still around and still have GT4 in hand. We figured we scared you off.

I don't think you need to restart. You're got a good enough car to win the races you're talking about. Just go practice until you can silver the first license. Then you should be able to beat the Sunday Cup with what you've got in your garage already. After you do that, then go silver the second license.

After that you'll be off and running!

Oh and if you want to be succesful in GT4 you'll probably have to give up NFS. GT4 isn't anything like that. You cant just smash the gas 24/7 and expect to win every race.

Downforce should only be used when the Ai is also driving cars with extra downforce....like in the Tuning Car Cup.

Racer-Boy, it'll take lots of practice, but a Miata/MX5 is one of the best cars a beginner can learn from. There are also lots of front-drive cars, too...

...do a search for "first car" or "beginner car" to get a flood of other opinions, but don't start off cheating the game with a wing. And try not to use ASM or TCS.
