This thread should be in the Motorsport/Other Racing forum, but until it gets moved...

I follow the series and I tape the races if I can't catch them when they're broadcast. :D The World-Challenge website has the television broadcast schedule. I believe these times are EST.

Barring any unfortunate incedent, Kleinubung is going to win the Touring Car championship. Auberlen is his only real threat, but with the way they have the RSX running and with his talent, I think the championship is Kleinubing's for the taking. I'd like to see Roger Foo do something in his Protege, but he needs to keep it on the track. Despite what the announcers (if you can dignify them with that title) said, I don't think that Mazda is coming through with a WRC factory contract.

In the GT class, I would love to see Galati with a three-peat, but realistically, Randy Pobst has a much better shot. Heck, if Pobst had run all the races last season in his Porsche, I don't think Galati would have won his back-to-back championships. I was thrilled to see Randy join the Champion team this year. The Champion crew definitely needs to work the bugs out of the RS6 though. Jumping out to a lead and trying to hold off faster cars is not the way to win races. The growing pains of switching from the S4-Comp to the much heavier RS6 are very evident. The additional weight, coupled with the inherent understeer of all-wheel drive, is going to make it a long season if they don't get it figured out. The trouble is that everything they've tried to lessen the understeer chews up the front tires faster...leading to more understeer.

Again, Bill Auberlen is the biggest threat to an Audi championship, but I absolutely don't want to see a PTG title. If a non-Audi has to win, I'd like it to be John Young. He had a brilliant season last year and was really coming on strong toward the end. The accident at LRP really hurt him as he had to miss Round 4. Realistically, I don't think the SR was going to win in the rain, but some points are better then a DNS.

I agree, Kleinubung most likely will win the touring class, but I am eager to see how Cunninghan is going to run in the new Nissan Sentra, he should do well ( if they can work all the bugs out )

I wasn't able to see the last race at Limerock but when It shows later this month I will be sure too do so. As for GT I dont know who I'm routing for yet, I was for Pete last year but this year he isn't competing. I do think Randy has a shot though, especially if they can get the understeer problem sorted out. And even if Audi doesn't win this year they most likely will be able to do some thing next year

As for Young he is fast becoming a contender, After seeing him at Mosport  I often wonder, since he is running the only Saleen Mustang, is it the Car or is he just that good

Cunningham should do very well if:
1. They keep the Sentra on the track for the entire race, and
2. He stays out of the nascar-like bumper car game that he has been getting into. Incedental or not, payback seems to have a way of keeping one off the podium. ;)

As for Young, he is a good driver, but the Saleen SR definitely gives him an edge on circuits that favor hp.

I aint seen that series but I do try to watch the BTCC we have in the UK
been to a few races too - the have the GT cars there as well (which is what I go for really) the speed 12 - marcos - cerbera - saleen etc etc .....
there was the new morgan thingy there last year
a quality day out !!

Tom Hollfelder is giving the Morgan Aero 8 GT (although an open-top version of the 'thingy' ;) ) a shot in the Speed W-C GT class, although according to his daughter Carol, who drives a Mustang in the series, is looking for more hp to get the Aero up to a competitive level.

yeah it is, but it needs more power to keep up. I saw it for the first time during the last meet, where I believe the a Corvette ran away with it. The Audi's were also looking real good. This is all from my memory though. . . I forgot most of the race. . . I can't wait until the next race though, it is going to be interesting at Road Atlanta. I personally enjoy the Touring car racing more then the GT.

edit - I can't believe that they are running an open top car

Who do you hope to win the Touring Class?

Well, I was really hoping to see Cunningham do something with the SE-R this year but figured that was out of the question. Kleinubing only has an 8 point lead over Auberlen, which I hope goes like that for the rest of t5he season for those two. Most likely I feel Kleinubing will win, but I would love to see a SE-R driver or a Protege Driver such as Foo win. Foo is a long shot at this point, but with the rest of the season it is possible.

As for the manufactures I just don't want Acura winning that side of it.

Im sticking with the REALTIME team. Kleinburg and Cunningham are my favourites but I havent been able to catch up on it since Febuary.

Me Too I like the Real time team as well and I'm eager to see what Pete can do with the SE-R http://www.team-rtr.com/

Edit : I think Pierre last name is Kleinubing not Kleinburg :D

I believe that Cunningham's "Team RTR" is distinctly different than "RealTime Racing". The "RTR" may be representative of his former team's name, heck it may even be PD's way of taking a portion of RealTime Racing with him, but Cunningham is definitely not direct teammates with Kleinubing/Mazzotta/McKee in 2003.

It occurs to me that Cunningham owns a company called RealTime. That being said, perhaps RTR is just an offshoot of RealTime Racing. As far as anything I've seen has indicated, PD is not racing for "RealTime Racing" per se, but how divergent is RTR really, I don't know.

here is a link to the driver's bios of the speedvision touring car challenge guys, but after reading through Cunningham's bios it has nothing about RTR, it does however have RealTime Racing. http://www.world-challenge.com/bios/index.html.

Although after a little more research I found this piece of interest. . . The TeamRTR Nissan Sentra SE-R effort is sponsored by Nissan North America, Inc., NISMO, Red Line Oil, Eibach Springs, BOSCH, Sparco, Gemini Technologies, and Brembo. http://insider.speedtv.com/viewtopi...nningham&sid=dc33d2b7bcf67ee43b6554cddf7dbfe4

True Dat

I'm glad to see him in a new Car although I am a bit dissapointed he's not competing in the GT Series, but If he was, I wonder what car he would use, seeing that he isnt racing with Realtime this year

Maybe a Nissan Z or a R390 :mischievous:
