This thread should be in the Motorsport/Other Racing forum, but until it gets moved...
I follow the series and I tape the races if I can't catch them when they're broadcast.
The World-Challenge website has the
television broadcast schedule. I believe these times are EST.
Barring any unfortunate incedent, Kleinubung is going to win the Touring Car championship. Auberlen is his only real threat, but with the way they have the RSX running and with his talent, I think the championship is Kleinubing's for the taking. I'd like to see Roger Foo do something in his Protege, but he needs to keep it on the track. Despite what the announcers (if you can dignify them with that title) said, I don't think that Mazda is coming through with a WRC factory contract.
In the GT class, I would love to see Galati with a three-peat, but realistically, Randy Pobst has a much better shot. Heck, if Pobst had run all the races last season in his Porsche, I don't think Galati would have won his back-to-back championships. I was thrilled to see Randy join the Champion team this year. The Champion crew definitely needs to work the bugs out of the RS6 though. Jumping out to a lead and trying to hold off faster cars is not the way to win races. The growing pains of switching from the S4-Comp to the much heavier RS6 are very evident. The additional weight, coupled with the inherent understeer of all-wheel drive, is going to make it a long season if they don't get it figured out. The trouble is that everything they've tried to lessen the understeer chews up the front tires faster...leading to more understeer.
Again, Bill Auberlen is the biggest threat to an Audi championship, but I absolutely don't want to see a PTG title. If a non-Audi has to win, I'd like it to be John Young. He had a brilliant season last year and was really coming on strong toward the end. The accident at LRP really hurt him as he had to miss Round 4. Realistically, I don't think the SR was going to win in the rain, but some points are better then a DNS.
