I have an Idea, what do you think?

I just bought a stock M3 premium after driving it on the course generator, it's one of the available test cars for Mt Aso template, I got to say it has great stock suspension. I picked up the M3 GTR standard from UCD, it's stock suspension was not as impressive. I'm not familiar with the CSL designation, is that a race model?

The CSL is a light weight model that came standard with cup tyres.

In regards to tyres, The eagle F1 and proxies were just the ones that popped in my head at the time.

I guess with my CSL sports softs would be realistic seeing as it came as standard with cup tyres.

Maybe a good compromise all round would be to limit the tyres to sports mediums?

@oppssorry, yeh thats kind of the idea, working on the basis alot of people wouldnt be able to afford/ have the time to get into serious engine modification

Restricting to the height adjustable suspension kind of takes the tuning out of this challenge though, even if unrealistic to put a race suspension on a street car, without it all were doing is buying a car and putting the short list of allowed parts on it and saying "Here it is, all done."

If we do it in the format of the 50k budget car challenge but at a higher credit cap then it would give us a lot more flexibility.

120k street tune challenge, etc.

A good point, and one I thought of myself, perhaps in the interest of the game and tuners we could agree that race suspension be used?

So use the above limits but change street suspension to race suspension.

So this would be the new perimeters, assuming all are in favour?

Performance parts to be fitted:

Sports Exhaust- A common modification seen on many, many street cars

Sports Cat- Or in the real world perhaps also a De-Cat pipe?

Sports ECU- Again this could be a engine Re-map or superchip, Common on real street cars

*Added- Single plate clutch, street mod cars often use these as agreed upon

Sports height adjustable Suspension- Most similar to a street legal Coil-over set up*
EDIT, Fully customisable Suspension, adds more of a challenge for us tuners and can be brought for street use, just a more comprihensive coilover set-up

Sports Soft Tyres- Maybe like Toyo Proxies or F1 Eagles perhaps?

Engine Overhaul and oil change but NO CHASSIS OVERHAUL- A used car will most likely have its engine replaced/rebuilt, but not a chassis, not on a street car anyway.

I like your idea. I've got a similar thing running based on the street tune concept.

The core concept is the same but some 'decisions' on restrictions made for the series are different.

Have a look here: Initial D GT Stage

It's still really early in it's stage, but so far it's been fun. And still a lot of fine tuning to be done.

A budget tuner will mostly just use bolt-ons... but to me a proper street tune goes one step further without going into race-spec. My street/sport tune is as follows:

GT Auto
- Oil change
- Custom paint (if wanted)
- Custom rims (if wanted)
- Aero kits
- Engine overhaul (for used vehicles)

Tuning shop
- Window weight reduction and carbon hood. (Window weight is more sensible than Stage 1 weight reduction... 10kg could be a spare tire :P)
- Stage 1 engine and ECU. (Engines can be opened easily and cheaply to justify the engine upgrade)
- Racing filter.
- Headers, sports exhaust and catylitic converter.
- Low rpm turbo/supercharger. (for durability (hypothetically), I wouldn't go mid or high for turbo)
- Single plate clutch, sports flywheel.
- Height adjustable suspension.
- Sports soft tires.

You don't have to like my street set-up, but car enthusiasts will go further than just a couple of bolt-ons. These are the parts I'd install into my own vehicle.
