Well, I'm back from the USGP pit walkabout that occurred today. I have to say, I was really impressed with how it was handled. The crowd was not that bad, IMO. I had no difficultly in finding parking and getting into the track.

A few points of interest that I saw today...
-Car Display including a 360 Stradale, Porsche Boxster, Viper GTS, Modena, Lotus, and and other cars
-Ferrari 2003 Car (I assume because I'm not sure on the year)
-Older Racecar driven by Tom Pryce
-All of the pits

Also, a few funny things occured. When I was at the BMW Williams pits, a Ferrari fan was allowed into the garage for a picture and the entire crowd booed them for obvious reasons. I received a free notepad from the Toyota team and the person handing them out almost didn't give me one because I was wearing Ferrari gear (and even told me so).

I bought a Renault hat for $30. I would have bought a Renault shirt also but the ones I found were priced at $120 and $150. Ridiculous price for a T-Shirt if you ask me. I also noticed that there was more Ferrari gear for sale than any other team had. I found only one booth with Renault items for sale.

More to come soon after the race weekend! Pictures will hopefully be uploaded to either my webspace or to GTPlanet's server in the near future after I have them developed.

Well it is cool to hear you had a good time at the walkabout; I am sure it is a great experience to have experienced. So did you see anyone from GTP there today?

Unfortunately, I did not. I looked for Jordan and his GTP shirt but there were too many people there.

has anyone got a teleporting machine?...anyone?...no?...oh...stupid matrixhasu ill kill u. kidding. Btw did u kick the Porsche Boxter??? I hate them.

Matt, you only hate Boxters 'cause of Koban, lol. Nah, I'd rather have many other porches over a boxter. But I don't understand the exitment in seeing a boxteR?

Anyway, have a good weekend

You guys should've arranged to meet somewhere or something. How was the practice or did you go to it? I can not remember if you said you were going or not. And if you did go, how did the cars sound? I have always wondered how a three liter V-10 that revs to somewhere around 19,000rpm's would sound; I am sure it must be a heavenly sound.

Yes Blake, koban and these 3 guys that goes to my dads work, they all act like tossers because the own Boxters. But i hate Koban, he pulls over next to you and talks about his boxter...like I care, if the women sitting next to him werent hot and i wasnt losing my saliva from drooling, i would spit on his car.

Matt
i wasnt losing my saliva from drooling, i would spit on his car.

Ummm, is it just me or does that not make sense?

Has anyone who's at Indy this weekend got a driver autograph yet?

A Boxster is not a bad car at all; just because it is Porsche's bargain car does not mean it is a bad car. I would not mind having a Boxster as a daily driver, unless I had the money to get a 911 instead.

True. I went to qualifying and pre-qualifying (Useless, IMO. They only need one session really because the first sets the order for the second via the final results of the previous race.) and got to the track about halfway through the fourth practice. The cars certainly have a high pitched whine to them but when they shift gears it tends to be a little deeper.

I was near the driver paddock on Thursday when Jenson Button came out and signed a few autographs but I wasn't able to get one.

Blake - I meant "IF I wasn't drooling I would have spat on his car".... lol, stop being me and correcting people even though you know fully well what they're saying!

and Vash, I hate Boxters because of those people lol, and if Blake hadn't taken the attention away from what I was really saying, maybe I wouldn't look like a doofus so much....ahh who am I kidding yes I would .

Matt

I still don't get it, why you drooling over a car you hate?

And yes I will say it, idiot *shakes head*

I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE WOMEN HE HAS IN HIS CAR ALL THE TIME U N00B!!!!!!!

That was why I was drooling...and if I wasn't drooling over the women so much I would spit on his car...JESUS !!!

Read properly :D.

I just got home tonight from the GP tonight, Matrix. It's a shame you didn't see me, I was just waiting for you to come up and say hi any minute! :( Oh well, maybe next year. The pit walkabout was very interesting, wasn't it? Overall I had an awesome time, but I did get quite a bad sunburn... Send me a PM and I'll set you up with an album on GTP. I got a ton of pics too so we should have one huge gallery!

When I went to the ALMS event in Adelaide years ago it was like, 38c on the Friday and my dad and I wound up with sunburnt knees, we wound up buying some longer shorts and drapign white t shirts over ourselves.

From the TV I saw a lot of the stands were empty, yet they seemed to suggest it was close to a sell out event, did they just not open some of the stands? On the banking exiting turn 12 there was a giant granstand for the oval that was empty.

Like you suggested, not all of the stands were open. But what was open was pretty much sold out.

I don't think those seats were for sale, because quite frankly they are a terrible place to sit. There are way too many other great places to sit, nobody would pay for that location.

I noticed that on TV that the stands along the start/finish line were not full... but everywhere else (turn 1, infield, turns 12/13) were naturally quite packed... was that the case? it just seemed a little strange that there would be so many empty eats in the main grandstand...

Yeah, I really wish I could have met you at the race. If I go next year we should really set a time and place to meet. The pit walkabout was incredible. I loved how they had all the pits open and how you could see what they were doing. All in all, that was my favorite day of the race weekend. I still can't believe I was inches from a 360 Stradale and Viper GTS (along 6th Street by the Plaza)! I arrived at the track early enough to get some good shots of those without the crowds being in the way.

I'm surprised at how good my seats for the race were. We sat in the Turn 6 Terrace in Section 4 Row M Seats 1 and 2 and could see Turns 4-7 and some of Turn 1. I heard that Turn 10 wasn't even sold out because people didn't realize how good the seats really were. If the pictures turn out I'll have some really nice shots. I took 8 rolls of 35mm film and used them all. That's 192 pictures... :scared:

thats funny i sat in section 4 row k 6 and 7. our stand was packed i just wish we would have had a video board, i had to zoom in on the one on the main stand. i have a bunch of pics and videos all digital i will try to get some up.

Hmm... You wouldn't have been the Ferrari Fan wearing a Schumi shirt, would you? A guy wearing that with a fairly nice Digital camera sat one row below us. I was wearing a Renault hat and Ferrari shirt.

Send a PM to Jordan and ask about the album for the USGP 2004. I think what he is going to do is have one large album for all the photos he, I, and others took this year. I have to get mine developed yet and I'm waiting until we get our Cable Internet hooked up(sometime next week) so I can upload them via that instead of 56k.

Yeah, I sat in your terrace for about half an hour on Saturday afternoon to watch the first Porsche Supercup race. They are great seats...I loved how close to the track it felt, especially down there next to the part that stuck out underneath the big tree. I didn't make it out to the track on Friday, so I didn't have much time to see that car show, was it pretty good? It would have been hard to beat my day on Friday, though...I took my G35 coupe out to a track day at Putnam Park and got to ride a few laps around the track in no less than a silver Ferrari F50!!!!! I also got to sit in a BMW M1 and a Noble M12!!! Nope, I couldn't believe it, either! I can't wait to get all of our pictures up, hopefully I can get started on it tomorrow.

another try
