so stop talking about things u dont know .. and WAKE UP guys..!!

I guess the stores in Dubai have a more laissez-faire attitude when it comes to street dates. I wish more stores here in NA are as well: instead we get attitudes aplenty. Still, I sold most of my PS3 library to make room and time for this game. Gone are MGS4, COD4, LBP, SF4 etc. What I got back is over $200 store credits from Gamestop.

I was about to say don't you guys realise, Dubai Duty-free > all other shopping. You think they really care about 3 days with a game, when they deal with Porsches and all sorts of exotic stuff?? Nope. I wouldn't be surprised if these guys get to play GT5 first either. ;)

Good stuff Marmar and UAE-Monster. 👍 Give us more pics when you guys can.

as soon as possible my friend 👍

Can you customize the controls for the controller (button layout, sensitivity etc.)?

Not really. Just a few configurations. I actually had a long talk with the guy showing NFS:S at PAX about this, and he plans to talk with people so that future games may have true programmable lay outs for button configs.

What are you on about? IVORBUGIN said he was referring to the guy in post 9 who said
I'm getting NFS:Shift now from "the internet". I will try it on my 360, and if I like it, I will buy it for the PS3 to play it with the G25.
I undestand you've simply got mixed up and though he was talking about marmar as I initially did, but if you read the post preceding your own you would see that I already questioned him on that and he clarified what he meant. And he was directing his comment towards people who pirate games and pointed to BenzAMG's post.

Dont think there is anything wrong with checking out if the game good. He/She also stated to buy it if its good.

---

My self i will wait for an demo - release. will not buy a NFS game without trying it first. Not wanting to throw away 65 euro's ;)

Only problem with that is you'd really be better off either renting and trying the game that way, or just buying the game and if you don't like - sell it.

Sounds half-assed, but not so much when you consider the demo will be available either at the end of the month or sometime next month. Which is retarded.

Plus the demo will not give you a "full" picture of the complete game, Renting is a good idea if your aible however.

alpental is in. check the latest video on giantbomb to which the other thread for nfs:s is linking somewhere in a recent post.

I have also got the chance to play NFS Shift before release date. My 14 year old cousin had got it through his mates. My first thoughts...

I spent a fair bit of time with the game and let me tell you it is amazing! After playing it, it just made me crave the PC version even more, I can't wait til its released and have a go on a g25.

My first race is a "test lap" with a bmw m3 and for my first time I did pretty well and the game suggested I have AI set to medium and driving model to experienced with all assits off except abs. That's not too bad for a first time. I put it to pro mode, manual, all assists off...I was shocked how good it felt, it felt so right. I would say it definitely feels like GTR2/GTL and DEFINITELY more unforgiving than Forza. I found myself spinning out a couple times against tough AI opponents. At Laguna seca for example, there a couple of corners where in Forza 2 I could just lift off the gas and take the corner at high speed with no understeering or oversteering, but somehow the car would grip to the road, this could happen with race cars but it SHOULD understeer with a factory car. In shift, no such thing. If you take a corner at high speed it will understeer just like it would in the real world, doesn't have a magic grip like Forza, not saying Forza isn't an amazing game, I prefer the physics on Shift. Another thing is the sounds, oh the sounds!!

Those of you worried about the physics, do not worry, once you play you will be hooked. The reason those videos look weird is because their from the chase camera, when driving in that view it LOOKS weird and doesn't look right just like FC, SCC and even GTR2 look weird from the chase view but I can assure you the driving DOES feel right, especially in cockpit view. Using a controller, it IS hard but you get the hang of it, at first I thought I could brake late like in Forza and therefore go faster around the corner, nope, even if you JUST miss the braking point, you will most likely understeer off the track...this game screams to you to play it with a wheel (G25).

I tried out different drive types, a FWD definitely feels like one, so do the rest. It's spot on.The driving is just exhilarating, I can't put my finger on what exactly makes me feel like this, but there's something about this game that just wants you to drive more and makes your heart pump. Looking forward to the PC version!

The ONLY thing that I will nitpick so far about the game is that you can't turn music off during the replays or maybe I haven't figured out how to yet but I went through all menus and found nothing.

SHIFT definitely gets a 9.5 from me. Very Impressed.

Wow! I am sold. :)

You guys ever heard of renting a game? It could save you around $52 dollars.

Surprisingly for you, many countries have absolutely ZERO option for renting games. In my country there are no game rental options whatsoever.

Well renting is impossible here at least. Re-selling could but dont think it will return a lot of the value (not sure though never ever sold something online ;) )

--- anyways back to topic: ---

after reading all replies here... the vibe is getting more positive :)

👍

I advice you guys to buy this game asap. I had a heart beat when I heard M3 E92 engine sound which is the first car you can choose.

Pro physics = Realistic. but you'll have to adjust steering sensitivity/steer lock if you are having problems.

I'm not sure if there is LAN game cuz I couldn't find any game online. most of my mates already have Shift :dopey:.

You guys have small/hidden stores in US other than Game stop/etc ? I wish we had Game Stop here :)

********** One more thing I forgot to add. when you start the game, it will require installation to HDD to play. I doesnt take more than 3secs to restart a race. :D :D :D big thanks to EA/SMS for this game. *********

How does it compare to GT5:P? (If you've played it, obviously)

I don't know how I could explain it. GT5:P is awesome with a g25 wheel and I can't compare til I have driven shift with a g25. I would have to wait for the PC version to be released but by then you and everyone else will have the game and can make comparisons themselves. What I will say is, it definitely is more exciting to drive in shift (comparing with controllers), more of an adrenaline rush if you will. The sense of speed, the sound, the effects, it's just amazing, feels like you are racing where in GT5:P you don't get that adrenaline factor. The physics can be compared but neither GT nor Shift have perfect physics. GT5 does some things better and vice versa shift does some things better than GT5 too so its a very hard comparison, either ways if you love GT5:P you will love Shift, simple as that. I hope this game does well and I can't wait for everybody to get their hands on it to share their thoughts and opinions.

Hopefully this game does well and sells considering FM3 and GT5 are coming soon. SMS deserve it and because of the success, hopefully we could see potential future projects to be released like maybe Shift 2, Ferrari Project or even GTR3.

What is the customization like?

To be honest I haven't really customized a car yet, all I have done is upgrade the suspension and brakes (level 1) to see if there would be a difference in handling. I did this on an RX8 and it made a huge difference right away, it had less understeer and cornered much faster. Customization wise, it's pretty much what you see in the videos and pics, body kits have 3 choices but I'm not into body kits so didn't spend much time there. You can change rims and the diameter of them etc...All the normal stuff. You can find most on youtube videos. I'm more into upgrading my car instead of customizing it with vinyls etc...but that's just me.

Does it supports 900 degrees of rotation ?

The PC and PS3 version will as seen on many youtube videos. Can't wait to give it a go on my G25 once I buy the PC version.

Online options guys? Can you set your own lobby/room/race up and what are the options regarding track/ laps and all the rest of it? I know theres no one to play with online at the moment but some details on the online options would be great as theres a good few GTP members who want to get on the track with each other once the game hits retail.

Thing is I don't really like that blur, excess motion type of things and all the pretty colours and billboards shift appears to have, much of it seems excessive. I am very glad that ugly bloated hud can be reduced and shut off.

Gonna have to check more youtube for videos of more standard road cars, I am not fond of the modified stuff all that much.

(BTW I haven't played it yet just saying from what I have seen)

I toke the bite and preordered it. From reading your feed back, and looking at the video's it seems to be pretty good.

34,95 from Shopto.net if anyone is considering getting it.

I'm glad that it seems like my faith in this game is going to be rewarded when I have been let down by so many other games recently.

Can you drive the BMW M3 prior to the 'Test'? The reason I ask is that I can't understand how the game can fairly suggest any defaults when you can change the controller sensitivities. I'm using Race Pro as a prime example of how much better players can drive once they have sorted out steering sensitivities.

That's not too bad for a first time. I put it to pro mode, manual, all assists off...I was shocked how good it felt, it felt so right. Wait...so this feels more realistic than Forza?
