Update:

Well it's 3 weeks today from when he said it would be three weeks or so. It looks like it'll be done "or so", and not in the three week estimate. He's got all the hardware on the body, electronics installed, but he's waiting on the pickup blend switch which is expect any day now.... What's left is some minor electronics assembly and some fret finish work on the neck. Besides that, it's basically done. There's 9 other basses in this batch that he's working on so even if there's only 4 hours of work left, just times that by 10, and there's another 40 hours of work to do. With July just a week away, he's shooting for a delivery date of July 4th. Just have to hurry up and wait. :)

You've actually waited longer for what I waited for my Peavey Custom Wolfgang Special Deluxe guitar.

They 4th, huh? At least you'll have MGS4 to hold you over.

In part to the long delay, it's basically a one man operation with a new born kid and wife that he is trying to move to Ohio while he tries to get his house ready for closing while continuing to work on the basses. It's been crazy humid in Texas lately adding additional delays on the finish work (another reason to move to Ohio I guess....)

How long did you have to wait for your Peavey?

Nine Months would have been awesome! Better than waiting 10 years though.... :)

Being a fellow bass player, albeit a rather inexperienced one, I'm going to be very jealous of that beaut when she's done. 👍

Not sure about jealousy, but I can see it giving you G.A.S. :D

Happens to the best of us. BTW - Nice to see another Low End Brethren. 👍

Very Excited. Got some new pics.... The word that comes to mind is Extreme. Man, I am really getting excited now....

Tell him to hurry that mess up! It's been way long enough. Looking good mang! :D

I hear ya.... Very soon I hope, within a few days...or so I'm told. :D:D:D

Until then, check out this bass that he Just got done with the body. Again, not mine, but it's easy on the eyes. It still needs a clear coat, but wow!

That.

Is.

Gorgeous.

Most cars don't have flames that nice.

I know.... I actually called him with minutes to spare telling him I wasn't counting the seconds or anything. It's getting close.... Originally he thought September/October of 2007.... :ill:

Just got off the phone with Pete today. He was jamming out on it. IT'S DONE!!! He wanted to know how I wanted the action before he shipped it out. There will be a full photo shoot this weekend then he will ship it out Monday, 2-Day select. Hopefully I'll have the bass by Wednesday the latest!

:D:D:D:D

About bloody time! Congrats, Pako! I think I can see the smile on your face from here. :D

Asking you a very important question that I was NEVER asked on my custom guitars when they were ready to ship! Though, in their defense, I did tell them in advance how I wanted it, though not one ever set it up the way I like it (very, very low).

What happens if you play it and don't like it? I've had two, TWO custom Peavey Wolfgangs, one Standard Wolfgang and one Special Wolfgang, built custom made for me that I didn't LOVE, but they're OK. I cannot imagine spending all that time and money and getting something you don't love. Just curious what you're going to do if that's the case.

The action is kind of a compromise for me. Some settings I play standard 440 tuning, while other settings I play a half step down. So I have to set the action low for the half step down and be happy with a slightly higher action when tuned at 440 and standard tuning. Explaining this, Pete will set it up accordingly.

What happens if I don't like it? I wouldn't be honest if I haven't thought about it. It will be a lesson learned for me and I move on. With all the players that have raved about Pete's basses, I doubt I'll have any problems. He did tell me it weighs just under 9 pounds. Heavier than I had hoped, originally he was thinking just under 8 pounds which would have been incredible. I guess I'll have to give it an honest review to see how it goes...

...for what it's worth, I'm already thinking of a nice little 6-string fretless. Maybe in a couple years. ;)

Congratulations Pako, I cannot wait for those pictures 👍

I was looking at a handcrafted bass myself the other day, this one's not too expensive, surprisingly cheap actually, and it looks very nice in my opinion:

Still my own dream bass is a custom Rickenbacker with some gold paint, an all new fretboard and some Fender P-Bass pick-ups, oh well, I'd have to work years to be able to afford such a custom Rickenbacker I guess...

Anyway, even those "not-finished-yet" pictures look awesome, post 'em up ASAP

What kind of bass is that? The head stock looks familiar, but I can't put my finger on it.

A custom Rick would be cool. Not sure what that would set you back. I've seen used Ricks go for $2,000. Chances are you would be better off for the cost buying a used one, and customizing it yourself. I like the P/J pickup configuration. Very versatile. My next bass (when ever that will happen) will more than likely be a P/J. I went with standard Jazz style pickups because that's all I've known for so many years. The tone is predictable and I know how to get what I want when I want it. The P/J sounds appealing, but I just don't know if it's for me. Some guys absolutely swear by them. Sadowsky makes a bass with inter-changeable front pickups so you can switch between J/J and J/P configurations. This may be the smart way to go if I HAVE TO HAVE another fretted bass.

Over here, the used prices are exactly the same as the new prices, they're maybe a hundred dollars cheaper used but that's still far too expensive for a used guitar in my opinion :indiff:. The P-pickups were my choice because the stock Rick-pickups look ever so uncomfortable to play with it, and what bass slaps and pops lovelier than a Fender P-bass ;)👍

I'm excited, Pako! I demand pictures of the final product immediately after delivery :D. That flame job he did on that other bass is simply stunning .

Oh wow, that's gorgeous. I mean....wow. That's a work of art right there man. Can't wait to hear the tone.

Congrats my friend. What are you doing with your old bass?:sly:

Thanks Guys (except you Stig  ), I'm jumping out of my skin in anticipation.... Wednesday or Thursday I should see delivery in one piece.

Pete has really done some nice work. His basses continue to amaze me.
