I waited a long time for my Special Custom Deluxe Wolfgang a few years back. Ordered it in February, paid in March and received it in December.

I guess these custom jobbies just take their own sweet time. :indiff:

At the same time though they are making it custom of the customer so it should be exactly the way they want it. If they are making a big production model I dont think they would take as much time because they have to make alot more and get set-up differently for everyone etc...

Wow, that's amazing. I can't WAIT to see yours Pako!

I just saw pics of another 'Lion's Pride' that just got done. The Fender-ish body shape is called his 'Lion's Pride' style. It's new for this year. I agree on the body style I'm getting, it's much more unique and different and look forward to feeling it's balance with that horn and larger bass on the bottom. Most guys say his basses are very well balanced. Can't wait.

That's a true beauty man. I look forward to seeing yours. How much did it set you back?

I'm trying to budget out my first 'real' electric and i'm currently considering importing an Edwards from Japan unless an alternative option comes up (custom/boutique/other)

That awesome man.... Lets just say, it's set me back a pretty penny, or two or three....

There's some awesome deals out there on some really nice electrics. Good luck on your quest... :)

Again, not mine, but what a beauty.

Closer and closer...

I'm in love with the finish on that lefty 5 string.

:D Sounds like the middle of April, the guy who makes the custom pickups is slammed, and since I'm going with wood pickups, they will take a bit longer....

@Solid, Maple Burl Top, Ash Body, Rosewood fingerboard and control knobs.

I can't wait to see the final product! I admire your patience, as I could never wait a year for a new guitar :)👍.

Honestly, I don't think I would have done it if I knew it was going to take this long. If you look at the first post, originally I thought it would be around November, a long 6 month wait. :) The first 4 months were grueling. It's nice to see the updates on it, but the wait now isn't that bad. The next step of insanity is when he gives me a tracking number. That wait will be harder than the prior 6 months I think....

Just found out my bass will also be equipted with a fret at the 'zero' position. Allows playing the first position with a feel like the rest of the bass.

I have an acoustic with a zero fret. It's a lot more comfortable to play. But, none of my electrics have one. Odd. I should have asked for one to be put in with my custom jobbies but never asked for it.

That's cool. I had no idea. After all these years of playing and checking out different instruments, I've never come across it and recognized it. I assume that Fret 0 touches the string at all times? Got any pics of your acoustic?

No, it doesn't rest on it, but almost does. No pics, but I can make one. Only thing is, I have to remember where I put my acoustic. Haven't played it in two years, I think.

:embarrassed: Poor thing.... It must feel so abused. I know the feeling, I haven't played my fretless in a long time (over a year maybe...). Got it out for a clients session last week though so that was cool.

Are you saying the zero fret makes it more comfortable to play? How so?

The action where the strings hit the nut is huge compared to having a fret there, thus fretting at 1 would feel like fretting at two because the string is making contact at the same height at both sides.

What he said.

The tension on the string near the nut is really high. Resting the string on the fretwire before the nut releases a lot of tension, to my fingers at least, and makes playing that fret easier. I personally tend to avoid playing on the first fret because it feels uncomfortable compared to the rest of the neck, as indicated by my fretboard finger grime, when there's no zero fret. The first fret on my guitars look like a new neck compared to the rest of the neck. But, that was until I had my frets replaced and fingerboard sanded down a few months ago, because the entire neck looks brand new.

Not only is the tension on the string higher at the first fret, the nut places the string (action) higher than the rest of the fingerboard, thus needing more force to place the string on the fingerboard.

Higher string tension + more force needed = painful (or uncomfortable) playing

Had to wait for the oldest boy to come home from school. Then, homework, then some video games, then I had to put dinner in the oven. Finally, without further delay...
