this is something ive been beginning to notice and it really makes me regret falling into the age demographic for this trend. guys walking around in golf shirts, usually from AE, Hollister, Abercrombie, etc. with the collar flipped up. what are they elvis or something? this looks rediculous and the funny part is they walk around with this as if they think it looks commendable. the reason i bring this up, is almost every guy i see my age, is going this. now dont get me wrong i fall into some trends such as faded jeans and the golf shirts, but the flipped color is just rediculous. anyways. i guess the point of this thread is for people to mention trends they feel are stupid, and some maybe they follow.

Please, it’s spelled collar. ;)

Anyway, yes, that unfortunate trend has struck my school too. I’ve seen my fair share of stupid trends, and I try to ignore them, but this one just kind of arrows into your skull and won’t work its way out.

I don’t particularly care for the current girls’ trend of wearing black tights underneath denim miniskirts – who was the genius who thought of that? It’s like they’re too indecisive to choose between pants or a skirt, so they go for this ugly combo.

And people, let’s not spend an absurd amount of money on a pair of jeans just because they’re faded or “worn” – puh-leaze.

ah yes i realize that i just wasnt paying attention, sorry.

Just one of many annoying fads that will most likely fizzle out by the end of next year. Just try not to let it piss you off too much, and wait it out.

And then come back 20 years later.
Wasn't the tights and skirt combo a product of the 80s?
Yep. 1983 to 1985, to be exact.

I wonder if Op shorts and Lightning Bolt shirts will ever make a comeback? Those were fun...

I started to notice that 'pop-collar' thing like two summers ago. I don't care for it, then again, I'm 31. :P

Hmmm... I'm still wearing the same T-shirt and slacks/jeans I've been wearing since college. I don't really pay attention to what other guys are wearing... :D

By far I think the most idiotic trend is emo... seriously.. :yuck:
Haha. Let's hope this doesn't get into musical image trends, or there could be some random ranting, arguing, and even a bannination or two.

I think the worst trend right now is the biggest one: Gangsta y0. Every kid I see has a friggin' NBA hoodie, sickly baggy Sean John jeans, white Reebok kicks (y0 again), and a G-Unit hat. On sideways, and with the stickers still on, of course. It's disgusting really.

tight pants and mini skirts???

I prefer the mini skirts, but the tight pants are good also 👍

Though not together 👎

I agree. Mini skirts are great.

Why is the flipped collar an idiotic trend?

I have always wore my collars up! I do not choose to follow anybody else's fashion and i do not wish to look like Elvis!

Because you want to look like a chav?

You. Die. Now. :grumpy:

:P

Explain this post please. It's not appropriate to write something of this nature without explanation, tongue-out-smiley or no.

There are some ridiculous trends out there, and always have been. Most people who follow fashions fail to observe the correct rules of clothes selection in order. These are:

1. Do not look like an idiot.
2. Wear fashionable clothes.

The collar fad has been around here for awhile. Not used a whole lot but normally used by guys that have high opinions of themselves.

The newest and probably dummest fad at the moment is with the yr10s in my school. It's a short cut on the sides then a long cut on top with almost a rats tail at the back. They spike up the top with gel and gell down the front for a fringe :odd: It's like they couldn't decide what to choose.

Im very image conscious so I analyse all of my moves out in public. So when it comes to fashion if you have to go out of your way to wear something in a certain style its gay*. If it draws too much attention its gay*.

*No not homosexual gay but UK gay. As in stupid.

As for the rats tail that was in fashion in london a year ago but now its gone. Rats tail is a perfect example of a fresh head haircut.

Whenever I pick up takeout at a chain restaurant, I get a lot of compliments about my worn clothing. That's because it really is worn (7-year-old T-shirts, 5-year-old jeans).

Kind of funny that it took me 31 years to become fashionable.

The collars-up thing goes in and out of vogue about every twenty years or so, with maybe a half-cycle minor trend in between. It was tres cool when I was in high school around 1980, not that I succumbed then either.

All trends are either idiotic or putrid, to coin a word.

Well, it makes more sense than the trend two winters ago in which all the girls on the East Coast wore a denim microminiskirt (the non-hemmed kind, so they are all scraggly) and a pair of knee high fur boots that looked as if they came off of a now-dead Eskimo with frozen feet. News at 10 - if you actually covered up your legs during a snowy January you might not need the mukluks to avoid frostbite.

Here in East London plenty of guys have their trousers REALLY low with their asses hanging out. Idiots.
