If GT5 does incorporate a livery editor...

While the BMW Art Car doesn't have the best livery in the world, it already exists in real life so I don't see the problem with recreating it a something as little as a video game.

It's nice to see that everybody has ideas, but please can we get some justifications, reasons and points for discussion going :).

Edit; Previous post got in before I posted, sorry.

And that's why some people don't want it. Overkill.

Im fairly sure that wasn't made in livery editor it came in the Limited Collectors Edition with a bunch of BMW art cars. While that one doesn't look the best some of the other ones are quite nice in particular the M3 *I would upload a pic but I'm using my iPhone*

That's taste, not an argument, I personally think this BMW Art Car by Jeff Koons has one of the best liveries I've seen in years.
If you think that's overkill, I strongely suggest not looking into Jeff Koons past creations....

GT5 should be driving sim, not a paint sim.

I think people spend more time in FM3 painting cars rather then racing...

I want to know why forza compares gran turismo based on crash mechanics and engine noises, rather than physics and game elements.

That's the only reason I bought the M3 GTR from the OCD :P.

Too bad it doesn't sound nearly as good as it did in NFSMW.

WIN. Full of win. 👍

👍 👍 👍

I'd make this!

Please... just don't do it  .

I know the NFS most wanted BMW will be grotesquely overdone, that's for sure.

But again, what does a street racing style have in common with BMW's Art Cars where they commission a contemporary artist to basically use a racing car as a canvas?
Apart from the fact you seem to dislike both (again I don't argue your taste, just your reasoning) I can't see the similarities.

This is why we are given brains to come up with new ideas 💡 . I already have some ideas for new liveries. Probably will do it with pixlr tomorrow.

Off topic flame bait is not required.

You want to discuss GT vs FM then go to the right thread and do it, and that's not this one.

I'm in full agreement that's GT whilst not needing an editor as such, would benifit greatly from its inclusion.

Due to a shoulder operation, I have been unable to race for the last 6 weeks but have been quite busy creating/recreating liveries in Forza.

There's not many car games that can boast such content that you can immerse yourself without even getting in a car. GT's Photo mode is a similar proposition as in entertainment can be gained without any actual racing involved a livery editor would add to this a lot.

Racing clans can create team colours and sponsers. Real or other wise
.
Racing numbers are easily allocated.

In game economy gains a new facet.

Cigarette and alcohol livery's can be put back onto there respective cars as replicas. Something you would never see released from a developer nowadays.

Want a 2012 BTCC car? Don't wait for Kaz, create your own.

I'm not to fussed on the fantasy livery's myself. Anime, Flintstones, little big planet etc.
Saying that I have made the odd fantasy livery.
I wanted to put the Famous JPS livery back onto a lotus. So I did, A lotus 2 eleven to be precise.

Ive read many people who would feel sick be a horrible paint scheme. ( Weak stomach ). But similarly there are just as many who complain about dirty racing and the answer to that is join a league or race with friends.

Can't post a link sorry but on Forza Planet, GT's sister site you can see some of my work and how it's improved since my operation in a thread there.
Paint shop > Spags shop. Mostly real life replicas. Check them out if anyone's interested in what I'm talking about.

Cheers.

I don't know, but really I would use the livery editor to pay tribute to legendary cars like the GULF GT40, or I would use the system to make most of my cars a true reflection of my me and my style.

There's one in my Spag shop as it happens lol.

Drift / Drag teams will probably benefit from livery editors the most.

I'm not conversant with those disciplins myself but another category would be multi-class racing.

To you it is, but it's a real life car that plenty would love to recreate. That is unless it were introduced to the game. Also why does it seem like that drag guys are the ones putting this down. It would be a feature of choice, not something you have to use.

Drift / Drag teams will probably benefit from livery editors the most.

They would equally benefit from it as much as the racing series will, espcially multi-class and one make. Not seeing how only those two will get a big lift.

Ask any one make or multi series group if livery editor would be a nice intro. They'd most likely say yes, due to the ability to help distinguish themselves from their competitors. Just my opinion like what you said was yours.

A race team or any sort of driving club would benefit from the feature in question. One thing is for sure though, team or no team, many people would benefit from such a feature, I really don't get how in the year of 2012, games that have vehicle ownership as one of the main focal points don't have a livery editor :(

It's the atmosphere of GT that PD creates, the idea is that it doesn't need such features and that their fans will suffice with driving various cars of different skill sets. Or at least that is the vibe I've gotten from PD after playing GT for a decade and a half now. It should be a bit obvious to the long term fan that is willing to look outside the box.

Livery editor will probably make it to GT6 though, I don't doubt that at all especially if PD wants to be seen as a true worldly sim for racing or driving.

I think Kaz wanted it implemented but time restraint prevented this.

Also don't forget if an editor is in place the online then needs moderating. Wether they have the time and manpower to commit to that, nobody knows but it is a factor. Maybe they need there staff on other projects for the time being.

I really don't know why some people don't want a livery editor in GT5.

It just add 200x more fun/flexibility/customization/replay value to the game. And there's the leagues, etc. It opens a huge ammount of new possibilities. Better replicas, tuned cars, service cars (for leagues with pace cars), police cars (for cruise lobbies), a lot of stuff.

It's just extremelly needed in a game like Gran Turismo in these days...

Don't get me wrong LMS, I do love Gran Turismo games for what they are, I guess because I'm a designer I have this constant need to express style through my cars. :P

Because I'm using an Xperia X10 I can't upload an example of what I mean but when I get to a PC I shall post some supporting material :).

Yeah. I think the diehard fans see it as copying more arcade games. Open minded people see it as using a cool and inventive tool from those games in a console sim.

Nah I'm a fan too, but at the same time living in the late 90s isn't creating much growth for the game as a series. With this tool and GT graphics combined, we will have much fun.

They think that it ties the "realistic" GT series too closely with the "very arcade" NFS series.

So what?

I'm not advocating it, so not seeing what you're getting at with me. My statement obviously shows I don't agree with it.

I thought it was that old "well, if PD didn't think of it first than it obviously isn't worth doing" song and dance?

A little of both, I agee with that assessment as well.
