Glad to see you guys are having fun with this project

I have to find time soon to get back into it!

Always remember to keep your cars in good condition. I normally refit parts once they hit about 65%. I neglected to do some needed repairs and both cars ended up about 2 seconds off the pace. My suspension was down to less than 10% after the race. :(

Well I think for malaysia my tech directory was saying 4.5L /lap, but some forums posts were suggesting much less.

Racing in 20 minutes, and just don't want to be dead last again.

Low level tech directors (maybe all of them) are always off on their fuel estimates. Just take that as a rough estimate and then watch how much you are using during the race and adjust your pit stop fuel values as needed.

4 races under my belt, and realized that the computer assigned me drivers with a talent of 1. Talent is static and doesn't seem to change.

Kicked those guys to the curb and got some 16 talent guys. !

Had a good first race. Started 7th out of 13, and finished comfortably in 5th, well ahead of 6th but way behind the top 4. I've decided to swap leagues though. The new one has two car teams instead of one, a better schedule, is just starting a new season (the other league I joined halfway through a season), and has a more active host.

I signed a young 15 talent driver to be my first driver. My other driver, which is the first driver I signed, is only a talent 2 so I will need to replace him. I only signed him for 7 races though, so 6 more races until his contract runs out, and then I'll replace him with another young, high talent driver.

Anyways, I'm loving the game so far 👍

Yes i love this game, been playing for a few seasons, feel free to add me.

@ Superbike, i see that my second low level account is in the same league as you! :D (im J.Dixon)

Ah, good to talk to someone in the league. It's a European league, but it's the only daily 100% league I could find to work with my schedule. I'm having trouble though telling if I'm doing really well, or if I'm only winning so many races because only a few people show up live for each race to control their drivers. I guess I'll see next season, hopefully more people show up.

I signed up for this as something fun to do but I have a few questions.

Do you need to be present to race as long as all your stuff is in check (driver, team, all that)?

Reason I ask is because most leagues run on times I'm not up or can race usually.

It'll run with or without you. But make sure to set up some sort of tactic for your driver(s), they don't do well if you leave things as is.

Yeah unfortunately i cant make the races as im not here, the only races i can make is on my "full time" account, im in American GP in (soon to be Elite)

I won the rookie tier, im 1 point behind going into the final race of the Pro tier, the problem im having is that they're on 100% cars and im only 70-80% so my race tonight for the Championship will be tough!

My first race was a little interesting even though im a free member. I have 2 cars and my lead driver qualified 24 while my 2nd driver who I made equal was 9th, they finished in same spot. I have to figure out who to run harder as my lead driver was to push all race and was 5 laps down.

I'm still working on pit stops as my rain deal didn't work out as planned with too many pit stops, so I need to do some reading.

I will say if they expand this, I can see other series really taking off too!

Can free members see live tire temp? So can you see your tires go from blue to red?

There was an opening in the pro tier of the Inside Sim Racing league, so I went ahead and joined. Races are at 2am Monday morning for me in Japan, but I'll only be here for another month, so I'll just have to stay up late to make the races.

Got my first points today, scored a 7th and an 11th. With 16 teams in my tier that's a solid result, the 6 cars ahead of me were lightyears ahead though. I've got significant upgrades for next race so I hope I can keep in the points.

When watching the Live Timing and Scoring window, if you click on your driver you can see tire temperatures.

Also can see when they use DRS/KERS, almost at level 4 and I can get DRS.

Did bahrain today, and qualified an abysmal 19 & 21 (two car league), ended up finishing 15 & 16 though. Not great, but at least improvement.

One thing I think helped was I was not keeping the drivers on "Push" settings. This race I kept everything neutral with little pushes here and there. Tried to pay attention to the drivers ahead of me and when they started to suffer on timeing I would push a for a lap or two until I passed them.

Trying now to figure out fuel per KM and tires per KM ratios in order to better setup tire/fuel strategies.

Got the fuel/KM setting, but next race running one driver with softs to get a better number for how much the softs degrade.

Any of you guys had luck running soft tires?

By my calculations of the few races I've run soft tires, I get an estimate Tire% wear rate of, 2.52%/KM. Racing TurkishGP today and at 5.338km/lap, that gives me an 13.45176% tire wear rate (on neutral push.)

I just don't see any way to use soft tires and be productive with it.

Anyone got any tips?

Thanks

Soft tires are a poor choice for Turkey, as it has a "Very High" tire wear rating. For tracks with tire wear ratings of "High" or greater, its best to stick with hards. Note that you can find tire wear info, along with other stuff, in each individual tracks information page (click the race in the schedule).

There are cases where softs can work on high tire wear tracks. They can work very well as a quali/first stint tire on these tracks. Most people will be qualifying/starting on hards, so by using softs you can not only easily out qualify those on hards, but you will be quicker off the start as well. You'll have to shorten your fist stint and then run longer stints afterwards on hards in order to compensate for the shorter life of the softs, but the track position you gain more than makes up for it. Using this strategy in a 50% race in China, I managed to scrape out 10th place. This is while only being level 2 up against around 26 other cars/13 teams, with almost all of them having more races under their belt and higher scouting/development levels.

Softs can also work well if the track is very cold, since hards take forever to heat up in cold temperatures whereas softs heat up fairly quickly.

Now I'm only 6 races into my career, so I don't know what strategies work best at each track. I picked up most of this info from the iGP forums, from posters who have been playing this game for quite a long time. From the advice that I've taken from there, most of it has been pretty good and has really helped me out so far in my career.

There are some ridiculous strategies where softs can work even at a hot track like Bahrain. Look at the top level guys, they are using 5-7 stop strategies in 100% races, getting soft tires each time. Basically taking a low fuel load, soft tires, and then only running them for 7 or 8 laps and then pitting. This would never work in real life, but heavier fuel loads are MUCH slower than they should be (10L extra can be a 1sec lap time difference on fresh tires) and hards take way too long to warm up to optimum temp. In real life even at a colder track it only takes about a lap to get them up to temp. Here even on a hot track hards take 3+ laps.

Here is a post I found on the iGP forums for tire strategies for each track (100% race length). It was posted by the number one ranked manager in the game (check his profile), so I imagine he knows what he's talking about.

Silverstone is next, and I might try one driver on softs and see what happens.

Thanks for the link wiifreak. I read those forums but didn't see that one.

I would say be careful following those strategies exactly. Especially as summer comes we will be using hard tires more and more simply due to the heat. I'm still experimenting with it. My first season in the ISR league is going to be a learning experience for me so I'll be experimenting with different strategies.

I just realized the other day that I had forgotten to refit the cars, so was up to F & G on parts but was still using the base A parts.

No wonder I finished last +5 laps at Monaco. :)

Actually Silverstone's default has me running soft tires anyway.
