But for the price of the swap/engine/modifications to everything, couldn't they just build up the original to gain just as much or even more?!

I love looking at the GT Car listings. So many dreams in there. 
Pricing ain't bad, ranging from roughly $8,000 - $44,000 USD. Shipping and customs are a different matter entirely.

EDIT: It's a good thing the Australian is so exceptionally strong at the minute; the NSX's for sale on Yahoo Japan begin at an unbelievable $19,500 AU (and 4,500,000 yen for that particular NSX translates to $44,000 AU) which is an absolute bargain. How much (a reasonable estimation) would it cost to have one of these shipped down to, say, Australia? (+any of the other costs usually associated).

SCOOT's 4-rotor creation. I can't remember if it's 12k or 14k redline, but the car churns out 700whp naturally aspirated. There's rumors of a 2000whp turbo model in the works.

I remember reading an article about their engine needing a rebuild, so they built it up to that specification, probably by raising the compression (it was low to begin with).

I have to agree jackington, the scoot 4-rotor is a beast of a car, and it looks utterly brilliant. No hashed on bits from halfords, oh no, that thing has been beautfully crafted and i love how it looks. The power is just amazing too, seems a little OTT though!

The Scoot Rx-7 and that blue Rx-7 are Beautiful. I dream up of cars like this, and when someone does a design similar,it makes me cry (in a good way...)
