Looks like they are trying to get rid of it. It's over here near me.

It's more so a 'what-if' photoshop chop than a real photo, but surely someone out there has put RAYS 'Time Attack' wheels on a black Type-R. With the red lip matching the red bucket seats, it would be the perfect blend.

Random question for one of you wheel guys.

I've decided to upgrade from my GTB wagon, and am in most probability going to go with an Evo.
One of my mates was selling one he'd just imported, and I had a look at it the other day.
Now, it came with two sets of wheels, the ones on the car and the factory set. If I do decide to get this particular car, are the wheels any good?

They're genuine Works, which indicates that they should be pretty good, but what kind are they? Any info re: weight/known issues etc. would be pretty sweet.

Bonus me fiddling with centre console

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say its a Work Emotion CR Kai Wheel. Here is the information I got from their site:

So are you really selling of your old car to buy the Evo? Sweet! :D

Hmm.... how did I miss that? *sigh* I guess I'm still a n00b at these things...... they do look similar in a way.... Well thanks for clearing me up -Fred-. 👍

Pretty stock aye, just the exhaust from what I saw. Apparently has a Cusco front diff, but I haven't driven a standard 6 to compare it to.

The 6 is probably stretching the budget a bit, but always wanted an Evo, and am getting a bloody good deal for it as well. Financing some of it, hitting up the family for a bit of a loan as well, shouldn't be too bad. Hopefully.

Also getting a feeling the EJ20 in the wagon is a bit of a hand grenade at the moment, the Winger guys told me that the big end bearing might be on the way out. It's been (for the most part) reliable so far, and I figure I should get rid of it before the repair floodgates open.

Also, is it normal that I think the wagon has more of a top end rush than the evo? Or is that just my head playing tricks on me because of the lag between the primary and secondary?

That sounds like a good deal actually, the Evo 6 has yet to be picked up by the "backwards cap" brigade so you're unlikely to find one with a "sick xternal an screma pipe" which has been throwing helis left, right and centre.

I'd get out of the GTB while I still could. I actually work at a Subaru dealer and I've seen them go wrong, especially the twin turbos. And seen the repair costs....

There is probably a bit of an illusion with the top end rush because Evos (especially stock or mildly modded) tend come on song really quite low in the rev range and are not really keen to rev where the EJ20 likes to rev and really needs to to make the power, even with the turbo/s.

I was thinking that about the top end rush as well.

And yeah, just got the wagon running right after the turbos spewed out oil like this half an hour after they were taken out, not that keen on repair bills any more (especially Subaru prices :scared:). Couldn't get any secondary boost after replacing the turbos, 4 hours of Winger Subaru diagnostic cost me around half what the two turbos did installed.

That is a scary sight. Were you upgrading the turbos? Or were you replacing stock for stock?

And for T_A...

I'll see if I can find some more later, I know I've got a few tasty AWs in my image collection.

Speaking of AWs, there is one that lives somewhere in Auckland, I've seen it before, which sports the number plate "3SGTE" with the message underneath "Faster than Jesus". It's a tuff looking little car.
