Hot damn I want one. Hopefully soon an identical set of wheels will find a home on my 1600.....

Posting porn is against the AUP, you should know that. 👍

Holy all things that could be considered holy... the stance...

*looks at Freds 'safe sex' avatar*:odd:

But yeah, the stance is all there. Nice Levin and the ITB's are sweet.
Btw, the engine is in the bay the wrong way.

Erm, WTF is with the tire stretch on the Levin on that last page? Seriously? Get some tires that are wide as the rim and come back, kthxbai.

And WHYYYYY must everything with IRS that gets slammed wind up with something like 6 degrees of negative rear camber? (@ Bluebird coupe)

Look at the fender design. If he did that, he wouldn't be able to have a good fit.

The way it is now, the fender and tire fit like:
fenderkc8.bmp

It fits perfectly flush, and uses the most space it can without causing fitting issues.

If he were to put a tire size that is "proper" for that wheel, they wouldn't fit without rubbing or raising the height height a good bit:
fender2oa4.bmp

Now, if he were to get a wheel and tire size combination that both fits under the car without rubbing AND is the "proper" size for the wheel, it would have to be something like:
fender3cj6.bmp

Which doesn't fit all that great, looks even more stupid, and you end up with a skinny tire anyway.

It looks good, the end.

I know some people take it way too far[/vw golf] but a little bit like that levin doesn't cause any issues and looks great.

Suspension design and fitting issues, as you might see.

Best 3 posts in the entire thread Eirik! Awesome 👍
In 100% agreement.
Awesome pictures man.
If they were only a bit larger, I'd have saved more to my files.
This is still one of the best threads on the internet. 👍

Wow, Erik. You win!

I just had Japanese Old Skool overload.

Some of those cars I'd seen before, and some of those models I didn't even know existed.

👍

Amazing how American many of those older Japanese cars look. I saw quite a bit of GM A-body influence in there. They really didn't get their own look until the '80s.

That's what I love about older Japanese cars, especially Datsun 260's and 280's. To me they look like their versions of muscle cars.

I don't, but I wish I did... It looks absolutely fantastic, I bet the you could eat in the engine bay, too.

It's pretty much perfect, IMO. The tires aren't overly stretched, which looks great.

Certainly one of the best looking VWs I've ever seen, if not the best. Only possible thing I would change would be get rid of the sunroof thing.

Also, thank you Richardrfo for putting up the rest of the pics 👍

Wow, MkI is teh sex.👍
Awesome color+wheel combination. But I agree, should look better if it was a hardtop....
