The only complaint that I've ever felt to say against the S15 is based on the design of its strange-looking taillights. To this day I still can't look at them in an appreciative way.

That's interesting: When I first saw then in Gran Turismo 2, I thought they stole the taillights off a Pontiac Grand Am! Then I realized the upper parts were orange...

The S15 was designed to be more aesthetically stylish than its predecessors, that's obvious. As said before, it's just a matter of taste that decides whether people go for the more subtle aggressiveness of the S13 and S14, or the more stylish display of such as seen in the S15.

I still think it's one of the best designed Nissans ever :)

Beautiful car, and you notice that! I have no idea what that's all about, lol.

You know, I never liked the S14's back half, either. That's why I'd like to see an S14 nose stuck to an S15 chassis...Just to see if it'd work.

He has by the looks of things, apart from the shell obviously.

*edit* - actually, looking at what's sat on the boot of the forth picture, is it all real CF or is some of it stick-on 'CF-look' vinyl over glass-fibre?

Aplogies about dragging this post up...

But that is proper CF. The deformation and warp of the weave over the fenders, etc. is consistent with the real thing, and in the shot of the rear quarter panel, you can see a spot where a thread got tugged over a bit, causing some deformation of the weave. The stuff on the trunk would be carbon fibre, as you receive it.

Judging by the door in one of the photos, they may (may) be doing a CF overlay over fibreglass, or that (more likely) may be for the purpose of making a female mold. Most likely the latter.

I kind of said that earlier with the "pre-preg sheets" comment. It comes pre-impregnated and woven with resin, and only has to be baked.

I don't really like stadard mr2's. I like the one's like this:

Whats the max engine size you can fit in am 2nd gen MR2, a 3.2 Twin-Turbo V6 would be nice....

dunno about your country, but here it's either 20% more power or 25% more displacement as long as the engine doesn't exceed the original powerplant's weight by 10%..

I am well aware of what preimpregnated composites are.
I was confirming that it was carbon fibre, as opposed to "Those may be pre-preg CFRP sheets, or, in reality, just rubber mats".

Furthermore, prepreg Carbon Fibre isn't simply 'stick and bake' - You still have to vacuum bag it just like you would ordinary CF. The only difference is that you don't have to mix and infuse epoxy resin while under vacuum.

Keef - Surely you know by now that most states have things called "emission laws", and being a car guy you'd know that straight pipes make tree huggers cry, and if its a daily driver or even driven on the street in general, the sound from the straight pipes would drive most people and their neighbours nuts. But, like I said, being the car guy that you are, you already knew all that... :dunce:

You could probably put smaller mufflers on it. I agree it looks quite silly like that, I wouldn't want big shiny things under the rear of my car.

I'm thinking the angle of the picture is making the mufflers appear bigger than they really are. If we had a shot from another angle I think you would see that they're really not as bad as you think.
