Wow, that was the best selection of photos I've seen in some time.
Nice pictures going on here and thank you for those.

RE: V8s in Japanese cars.

I don't mind, so long as they're V8s from the same manufacturer. Toyota V8 (NASCAR mill works good, See Tanner Foust's Scion Drifter) in a Toyota, Nissan V8 in a Nissan.

Mazda works with Ford, so a 4.6 Modular or 5.0 Windsor would be better than a Cheby. Honda's outta luck, but most of their cars are front-drive anyway (actually, save the NSX, S360-800, and S2000, NOTHING'S been RWD from them...) so you'd end up with what's basically either a dragster or purpose-built racer...sure, you could use the Mugen eight, or build your own, but that's SPENSIVE.

Isuzu worked with GM for a long time, THEY can get the Chevys. Mitusbishi? Mopar Mills.

A bit less JDM for a moment

OMFG.

Best post in a long, long time. I really, really want an old Fiat or Renault after all that. Preferably a Gordini Renault 4 like the one above. Or perhaps even more, a Renault 8 Gordini. One of the best factory colour schemes ever, the Gordini Blue with white stripes:

This always makes me wonder... as far as I've understood people often take off the front bumper to avoid smashing it if they hit something when drifting. Still, wouldn't it be a good deal cheaper to smash a piece of glass fibre than that race spec intercooler which is now completely exposed? :odd:

Questionable

I've seen that car in person. The guy never drives it hard, I've never seen it at any events, and I don't think I've ever heard it rev over 5,000 RPMs. Ever. He has a buddy with a DC5 decked out to look like a Type R and an EVO 9. Pretty sure they all hard park.

Posting that after a J's Racing S2000. That "JDM poser car" is probably faster than a lot of those full out race cars around a track.

See above :P

Probably not the Alfa V6 Ti, but I could see it beating a Rally Car. Damn thing was built for Time Attack racing, whereas Rally cars are sprung a bit softer and have less downforce.

As well, I appreciate the European "Everyman's" cars, as opposed to all the stupid "Stance" BMWs, but do you have to have so many that BROADBAND lags! A few fewer per post please!!! You could have let this go a few a day for several months, instead of dumping them all at once.

It matters not. At the end of the day it's just another one of the umpteen S2Ks that all look pretty much the same. Not even half as awesome as an airborn Trabant.

Seeing the J's Racing logo on each picture, I assumed it was actual pictures released by J's Racing themselves. In that case, I'm talking about one of the actual J's Racing S2k's

Faster than escort cossies and alfa 155 race cars?

Real world's waiting for you.
Notice the part where I said "faster than a lot of?"

Yeah, that. It doesn't say all.

Same car be said about a lot of the other cars posted.

Personally I think it's way more awesome than an airborne Trabant.

yeah.. and unlike in OHV's, the whole valvetrain won't be wrecked because there isn't any. no pushrods, camshaft, valve lifters etc.. properly maintained wankel will do 9k rpm all day.
Now im not tryna start a rumor so correct me if i am wrong.Ozhoonz did that with their rx7 20b it had 16k rpms. What happened to that car?

My buddy who works at a Mazda dealer was treated to a demonstration a while back of the RX8's Renesis. A stock engine was revved to 15,000rpm and held there for a short while, just to show the guys how smooth and capable rotaries are. Any normal piston engine would have devoured its valvetrain by them time it got there, much less do it without hardly any damage at all.

See the renesis are good motors but you cant use them for drag racing for a 7sec car.

Maybe it's just close to midnight and I'm waxing poetic, rendered happy by picture overload. But:

I will say nothing more than that a112 is a true car person. He's tuned in to what everyone can agree on, that cars are cool. Judging from the posts he makes,he is speaking the universal language of car by showing pictures of our loathed trabants, zastavas, and ladas going like stink. He's giving us the message of "cars are cool, have fun with them" by showing us the cars we all love to hate melting tires. In a thread full of nine hundred horsepower skylines and supras, he's able to waltz in here and show us that any car is cool as long as the owner is able to put a little soul into it. The flying Lada makes me happy.

I would completely abuse the reputation system if it were still around.

+ air rep.

Actually i was making the reply before that car was posted, linking the pictures and image tagging them from my friends forum were we upload or link photos like that in a regular basis.

Anyway,i really like the JDM scene, and most of people will get the meaning of my statement of the poser cars.

In example,in Slovenian Honda Forum, you are more cool if you order more cool real racing parts from yahoo japan/ebay and have the latest most expensive camera to get the pictures of the mods on the car,and never use that parts like they should be used.
Even more hardparkers like that are in US and in the whole world in general.

The thread is image bombed anyway,so i don't see that as such an extreme problem.
And personally i don't have nothing against a good stanced car :)

High-Test and Revheadnz, thanks for your comments.

...pfft. *Dismisses*

A112, those were some excellent posts, any genuine Abarth tuned Fiat is several shades of magic.

👍

Love this photo. Presumably it's Carlo Abarth in front of some of his brilliant creations?

autowp.ru_abarth_mixed_2.jpg

Those streamlined 500/600-engined cars look amazing. And I've always wanted an Abarth-tuned 850 Coupe (back right) ever since my grandpa gave me a brochure of the non-Abarth coupe. Revvy little sub-litre engine, rear-engined RWD, classic styling and less than 700kg? Yes please. Here's the regular 850 Coupe:

And some more R8 Gordinis:

R8 Gordini is a brilliant machine.
Here is one Croatian 850SC that i shot in Buzet while attending Hillclimb championship race.

It even has Abarth aluminum oil pan,Vitaloni Californian Mirrors,Luisi steering wheel,BWA Sportstar wheels and more Abarth goodies.

Beautiful. Amazing how small it is too. I often forget how tiny some of those old Fiats are. The 850SC is one of my favourite Italian cars though, would definitely have one in my "million pound garage".

Good thing that page is over and I can actually view this thread again.
Racing is cool, but I'd be a lot more excited about the cars themselves if we in the States would have got anything even slightly related to any of them. But we didn't, and so I have no clue about any of their histories, or even what they are.

my only gripe about old RR Fiats are their tiny engines. 131 Mirafioris etc, preferably with twincam engines.. now those are something different.
