I really love EK hatches. I've seen like...maybe 4 on the road ever. Also, Keef...WTF are you smoking? That Sky is ugly as hell. The Solstice is much better though, especially with that hard top.

I totally disagree with everything in the above paragraph. Autocross Car > VIP any day of the week.
Don't get me wrong, I love performance as much as the next guy. But I think that car, with it's luxurious metallic pale blue paint, chrome accents, and cosmetic body kit would look entirely out of place on a track. In fact, the Sky was marketed as a more upscale version of the Solstice, with relatively luxury details throughout.

Speaking of VIP'd American cars...

silverCaddy__vipcar_1280.jpg

Thoughts? It's on bags, the front bumper resembles the typical body kits, it has the interior, it's in Japan...awkward. I think the pinstripe and stickers kill it. Needs less stickers, more clean as hell. Either way, it doesn't really strike me as being super badass like the Jaguar did.

I know these people who buy fake parts. Their only concern is price. It doesn't matter if it's "hellafunctional" or "hellarice", if it fits their wallet, that's what they'll buy.

That's the kind that come onto a board and ask "What can I buy for just $400?" instead of asking "What's the best aero-part I can buy, money no object?" If they can't get a Chinese knock-off turbo kit within their budget, they simply won't get a turbo kit, they'll go with the NAAAWS.

Think the absence of knock-offs will convince people to spend twice as much on actual pre-preg carbon fiber bonnets? Nope. They'll simply buy a fiberglass kit and some 3M carbon fiber stickertape and call it a day.

A quote from PB a while back:

"The products and "style" have changed but the clueless guys now are the same clueless guys of yesterday."

 I don't know about you but I'll take a proper VIP car over this...

any time. This is coming from someone who is probably one of the (I can confidently say) "motorsports-going" members around here.

You're really talking about two different animals. A street car that is lowered to the ground and can't really drive anywhere, versus a purpose built track/autox car. There's no comparing them really.

I'd rather have the Honda. Looks like a total blast.

And we're also talking about what is probably a pretty extreme autocross car...That Sky is just on lowering springs and has some other chassis mods. That CRX would be a terrible daily driver I'm sure.

Given the fact that it has no front lights, I'm willing to bet it's not even street legal. Hence why I said you couldn't compare the two cars.

Runs in a few different Prepared classes from what I've found. Driver is Allen Kugler and his wife.. Funny what you can find Googling a couple car details.

Sure it can. Anyone in this thread will tell you that.

Purpose built CRX...lol. On hoosiers. Probably with some Koni shocks or the CRX equivalent of the Konis Miata autoxers use, some very heavy steelies roll cage/bar (because everyone knows autox is dangerous), all matched with a 1.6 that can barely haul the whole lot around. Its surprising how slow these "types" of cars really are. At least the VIP cars are stunning to look at and make no attempt or hint of "go-fast bark."

It's like sticking slicks on a Buick. It still handles like crap just at higher speeds.

Okay I know that this Prelude has been posted before etc. I'm not really the biggest fan, but I just gotta know how you get an engine bay so clean!

You're a ****ing idiot.

And the CRXs that run STS have about $20k worth of Moton shocks, FYI.

 $20k Motons  and I'M supposed to be the "****ing idiot."

I mean jeez, I'd give you the benefit of the doubt if we were talking about something like this...

...lol sts class crx with $20k coilovers. Now that's something.

Also, just something I came across...

I don't think the word "perfect" has been mentioned in the last 10+ pages in regards to how a car is tuned. And by me, not in the last 30+ pages. The darnest things people say when their beloved sts $20k coiloverd CRX with Hoosiers is brought to shame

I didn't say it had been said. It's what YOU think.

Beloved CRX? Right, I only said I would take it over a stupid VIP car. Didn't say I actually wanted it.

WTB moar pics of cars. Not people bickering over stupid bull****. If you don't like VIP cars, don't comment. If you don't like Autox or purpose built track cars, don't comment. Just because you don't like X type of car and think it's dumb, doesn't mean someone else doesn't like it. Why can't we all just appreciate nice photos and all the hard work put into all the cars we post? Surely you can appreciate the work all these Autox guys put into building fast cars, or all the hard work the VIP guys put into making every last detail of their car perfect?

I guess I'm just saying that if you don't like the photos posted, scroll faster.

I didn't say it had been said. It's what YOU think.

Right, especially when I'm one of the few here that posts a truly wide variety of cars from race cars, drift cars, supercars, vintage, even some hard parkers once in a while (not to mention from different countries)...
So considering that, my opinion of what I think is "perfect" is much broader and than yours.
Also, notice how all of this is from me saying the sts CRX on Hoosiers with the elusive $20k coilovers handled like crap (I can easily add personal experience to this.) Obviously it seems more of a personal case to those emotionally affected than of me thinking everything I think of perfect is perfect. You both own Hondas right (actually R1600Turbo seems to be getting rid of his)? Honda owners DO seem to be the most sensitive of the bunch.

As much as I may enjoy allot of the conversations we have on this thread, considering my average post, I put out a good bulk of photos the majority of which most active members on the thread seem to enjoy.

You know, if you guys don't like the cars the other one's posting, why not just, you know, stop looking at it? I haven't contributed much but visit this threat quite a bit, but I won't go out of my way to shoot down every Civic on here because I dislike them in general.

I mean, seriously, less drama, more pictures, please.

Anyways, to not be completely off-topic:

Probably old news, but I think that's one of the very, very few Hyundais I've ever liked :D

Sold it last year, and considering how long I've had it I wouldn't even consider myself a Honda owner. Will never purchase one again, Nissan and Mazda have more interesting cars IMHO.

No need to get defensive. My post wasn't aimed at anyone in particular. I would just rather see more pics of hot cars than see anyone b*tch and moan about X style car sucks liek zomg. I do enjoy your posts in this thread. I enjoy pretty much every post in this thread, I just hate seeing it clogged up with stupid ass bickering because someone doesn't like a certain style of car. This car is too low. This car isn't streetable. This car isn't fast around a track. Well no ****. Not everyone has the same taste in cars. Enjoy the photos and enjoy the work put into each car.

Moar pics, less b*tching and moaning from everyone.

^I wasn't being defensive, just making a point.

And for the record, saying the CRX handles like crap is nothing outrageous...as VIP cars are no better in that category and there have been cars posted here whose capabilities were comparable to the CRX.

People be gettin mad bro.

I think we've gotten to what this is really all about.

Personally, don't see what the issue is. May not be a great car to do the job, but if the owner is willing to invest the money & is out there running the car, I say it passes. Pretty easy to sit here & talk trash about some Auto-X car that apparently, nobody has the results for how it stacks up against its competition. Otherwise, I'm willing to bet it handles pretty well & that the guy knows what he's doing. If it doesn't, I'd like to see what actually leads someone to that opinion besides the obvious, "LOL, it's a Honda CRX."

I'm not the typical Honda-owning fanboy. I like some of everything, so drop that attitude now.

Since the STS class CRX has such poor handling, why is it THE car to beat? You do realize that all of the cars that compete at Nationals in the "stock" classes have to have the absolute best shocks money can buy, coupled with slicks, in order to have the edge over the next guy?

http://www.scca.com/documents/resultfiles/15171_Results book file.pdf

Street Touring Category = 35 '89-'91 Civic Si's, one Subaru 2.5RS.

Street Touring Sports = Miatas a little more abundant in the first spots, CRXs interspersed, then all CRXs after that.

We all know that Miatas have poor handling too.

Edit: And no, I don't dream of having a car with $20k worth of suspension. A stripped out early 90s Civic or CRX is about the perfect autocross toy though.
