Why would someone spend so much on wheels and leave the paint/bodywork in such a bad condition? I mean, I understand wheels are important, but those are some expensive wheels and that looks like some expensive engine modding, so why leave the car unpainted? Is it because it is a drift car that might get a few hits and small crashes? Still, though, the black door looks sort of weird at least to me

I almost bought a 2 door Corolla GT-S a few years ago. The owner clearly didn't know what he had because it was in good condition and he wanted only $2,000 for it. Negotiable. I went back a week later and he had traded it...for a PS3

:-O

A week later? You never go back a week later on a hot car. You hand the man $200 to hold it and tell him you'll be back tomorrow.

Someone made off like a bandit.

It looks like crap.

It's not unpainted, nor is the bodywork in bad condition. The body is stock other than the spoiler, and it's in great shape. It's painted a matte red. Yes, the doors are black, but that's likely because they bought it from the US and some idiot painted it like that here, or because they're trying to replicate the USDM style and that's exactly what someone would do here.

In fact, they probably got it like that from the US, and then purposely left it like that.

What do you mean they got it from the US? Isn't that IN the US? The car has cali plates, if it's not the US why would they want to import an inferior car to the ones they have?

It's cool there as the JDM is/was in USA. Cars you never got are always more tempting than usual stuff you see on the scene.

Yeah, as do do JDM, they do USDM. We use JDM license plates for the cool factor, and they use USDM license plates for the cool factor.

That's actually interesting to know. I always thought that we like JDM here because japan has such a rich car culture. Here, the vast majority of enthusiasts only do detroit classics.

They're actually better at imitating us imitating them, than we are at imitating them to begin with.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or just trolling. There isn't an undamaged body panel on the whole car.
Are we talking about the same car? I see a few paint chips, but that's probably the straightest panels I've seen on an ae86 that isn't a show car. The bumpers and stuff fit crappy but they fit crappy when it was new. Keef put it pretty nicely:

When's the last time you saw a 1983 economy car that wasn't in a junk yard?

As long as you don't end up being "that seller" using that line when showing a car that was advertised as A+++ 9/10 LIKE NEW. :P

Some nice meaty tires on Enkeis:
