In car view + damage

Just guess their priority was a perfect shape of the car...
So damage wasn't a priority..
But now it just will be a part of the game.

I want to be able to drive around with a bonnet blocking my view until I can reach pit lane! As long as I have fun, I don't care how hard the damage makes racing.

This is the reason race cars have hood/bonnet pins, to keep the bonnet down, some crumpling and view obstructing happens but not full windscreen obstructions.

and yes I do want it, I don't mind having to nurse a car a damaged home.

Do you reckon they will implement anything to stop you doing a Schummacer? For instance you're in a 5 race GT series you're 2 points in front of second coming into the final race and you know you're less than a 50% chance to win at the Nurburgring. Will the game have anything to stop you careering into your rival in order to take you both out and win the championship and a new prize car?

Your own morality and sense of well being...

An option to restrict cam use to cockpit cam would be cool in multiplayer.

And fixing damage in the pits would be normal in a endurance race.
So I hope it's possible.
Best would be if most of the mechanical damage would be fixed or parts replaced, while you can still see body damage on the outside.

And lots of gaffer tape?!

Where is the fun in that?

crashing isn't suppose to be fun, it suppose to be realistic, its not like your going to try and crash, unless of course you do what im going to try out when I get GT5 and drive a car 200 mph into a wall, just to see what it looks like... I hope it looks good:sly: ill probably only do it once though :dunce:

In the new trailer we see a hood get busted up pretty badly, but do any of you think that could hinder your sight in the in car view? I'd hope that that type of damage wouldn't affect your sight, but then again, it is the "Real Driving Simulator"......Thoughts?

When I read this it reminded me of this video

If the windshield gets damaged in a way that you can no longer see through it, the race is over, I guess. But I'm pretty sure damage will be an option rather than an always-present feature.

Naturally, I begin to wonder how challenging it would be if the side view mirrors were damaged badly. That would change how you drive too.....It'd be hard to keep tabs on those racers behind you. They could make moves on you but you'd only have the rear view to make judgments when to block and whatnot. Or you could go by pure sound, and use their engines as a reference point. I'm now very interested in using this view, though I doubt I will use it more than the chase view.

If the in-game damage system allows the hood to block a driver's view, then should there be a button that sticks his head out when pressed?

You can always switch to hood/roof cam or bumper cam view then. Pull to pits, light fix, and on the way back. LOL!

I will race with damage if you will be able to enable it. Yes, Eiger is a thing to think about. In the trailer you saw the nose of the STi bumped onto the ground. I think that will happen at Eiger too at a too high speed. I want to know more of the damage!! :P What about the debris from the other racers who crash? I hope there are flagrules too and of course, A SAFETYCAR!!!

For eiger and even that jump at the nurburgring you will probably have to slow down to avoid damage

I want the safety car to match the race series

IndyCar Safety Car

NASCAR safety car

LeMans Safety Car

BINGO! That's what you would do in real life. Damage is gonna rein in those crazy laptimes to a much more realistic level, and that's a good thing for a simulator.
