I'm having trouble making the poll public, how do you do that?

I will just say that I'm the one person who voted no. The reason is that I don't want to break my rhythm because people disconnect. I've been in a series that implemented a policy like that, and when we stopped the race for people disconnecting, at least 1 person ended up getting screwed because of it. If 5+ people disconnect all at once then I might see a reason to restart. I don't think we should have a disconnect policy after lap 5. That way we won't screw anyone over.

yeah that annoys me too, in one of my first races in formula ford we did 2 laps and the race was stopped so an ambulance could get to the other side of the track, not for an accident, for a drunk patron! I started 7th and got to 2nd, I watched the leader go straight on into the gravel trap after watching me taunt him in the mirror's, red flag, race restart from 1st lap, back to 7th,
if I remember right, that race I DNF because I ran out of fuel,

and I hate waiting around at golf, specially when I'm doing good, get to 195M out from a 300M drive, pull out a 5 iron and wait 15-20 minutes for the old ______to quit screwing around and get off the green, by that time you've cooled down, muscles gone tight, and you "push", "slice", "cut" and "blade one out of bounds! great drive wasted,

how about if we make it that the race doesn't restart as normal, or red flag restart, say if the lead group is 3 seconds ahead then they get a 3 second head start, my only issue with that is someone could create a safety car intentionally,

Another problem with the restart is that it messes up tire strategy completely.

that is true also, but I don't worry about strategy from the start, like with the roadster TC endurance series, I went to Tsukuba expecting the pace to be so hot I would need 3 stops, well, turns out I was the pace setter and stretched it too 2, but yeah I do agree,

I don't want to be on lap 60 having completed maybe 1 stop with 2/3s tire left, and I have to adjust my strategy completely because we have to back out and restart the race.

no that wont happen, 65 to go will be the cut off,

20 to go will be the cut off for most safetycar activity unless its a 9 car pile up,

After we have completed 10 or so laps have the cut off. I tend to get "in the zone" after about lap 5. That's where I have felt the car in the race, and I know exactly how hard to drive. Having to back out and start over is a big pain in the arse after I'm "in the zone." I do agree with the 20 to go safety car cutoff unless a 3+ car pileup.

I we will make it 20 laps in, by then we will know the ones with bad connections,

That sounds great. I also vote that if we start over, we need to do an additional Dan Wheldon lap.

Don't let me take this race over though  It's still your race. ;)

bahahaha, the unfortunatee part is that you can only do 200 laps in an event, otherwise this would be easier,

I think GT5 should have had a time race feature. That would fix a lot of race distance problems.

I agree, like 4 hours of le mans, you cant count the laps for that,

I've been keeping an eye on this thread and I like the idea. 👍
I will be busy with current series untill the end of october, but after that I'll have plenty of time to get some practice in.

So I would like to sign up please. :)

I had to miss Pure's Brickyard 400, but your brickyard 500 shouldn't be a problem schedule wise! 👍

The real Indy 500 is 200 laps, so I guess this race is semi-realistic by lap count.

yeah but it would be good to have 202 laps, 1 to sort the field, another for the Dan Weldon memorial lap and the 200 laps of go time!

welcome mate,

yeah I seen that, I might have to bail too, saturday morning's are weird for me, sometimes I don't home from work until 10AM, sometimes its 4AM or I get an early one and get home at 1AM, it all depends on what time I start or how many deliveries I have to do, I know I'm not working from the 29th to the 2nd hence this race time,

also sorry about last night/ this morning bud, all of a sudden I got disconnected from the lobby, then disconnected from PSN, then I log back into PSN, it was weird,

We have that in common I'm a delivery driver for a pharmacy company. I've been a driver since the age of 17 and now I'm looking at 32 years of age. I love my job but I'm in school for electronics degree now. All the driving I did is why I figured I would be a fast race car driver, but?!..

bahahaha, mate I'm usless at anything that doesn't involve driving or dumb muscle  I completed my schooling and got a lame certificate in accounting and economics, as well as 2 years down in motor/ diesel mechanics, panel beating and auto electrical, I think I'm reasonably good at it but I just found it boring, I've been in and out of go karts since I was seven, when I was 12 I had a junior street stock and Junior dragster, then from 15 to 23 I got into Formula ford, F3 V8 super cars, ARC, virtually drove pretty well anything but never got the opportunity to do it full time, just couldn't afford it, went through heaps of jobs then decided to get a truck licence, I work for a damn good transport company, If I want to have a home life I can do local and state deliveries of LP gas, or If I want to earn some good cash I can drive a proper rig around Australia, If you see the T.V show outback truckers there the trucks I'm talking about, I like hauling 3 full length trailers, gives you a sense of power over the road  specially when your hauling roar pure Butane or Propane,

@ TDZ:

I tried Motocross just to get on a track when I was 27 because a ton of time had passed and I still hadn't taken a green flag with anything yet (streetracer here), but motocross is something you have to start early since you will go down learning how to jump and I couldn't risk any injuries learning to jump 78ft table tops but my ground attack was good. I'm still considering flat tracking my bike. My dumb_ss traded a 91 fox body for a 125cc shifter that had a 80cc on it due to lack of exp, so I was still not competetive and got my kart ruined literally ever time I showed up at the track. My last round out my rod bearing spun, and I can't believe they charge more for a fully rebuilt motor than just buying a 125cc dirt bike or a whole another kart with a 125cc on it which is where I'm at now. In the end its much easier just to role out of bed and power up GT5 at virtual no cost or risk. I'm going to sell my kart and get a rig, Yay dig?!

go karting is expensive!!! I always suggest to hobby racers to find a saloon production car racing, even though it starts out expensive it becomes cheaper as you can always buy second hand parts from an auto recycler,

hopefully we will see more sign ups in the next week or so,

only got provisionally 5 spots to fill plus reserves, lets get these entries in,

I just got my orange FGT 👍, so after this weekend I will start practice.

I assume that that will be some practices leading up to the actual race?

in the week leading up to it yes we will be running group practices for everyone to qualify, but you can practice anytime you please,

I understand your concerns. As for tire strategy, during a caution the field would regroup and wouldn't you agree that most drivers will pit under caution if they can? A restart of the room would be just like coming out of the pits. I don't really see how the system could screw anyone over if we took note of the racer's current positions before we reboot the room. However, I definitely understand your "in the zone" explanation. I would say that a normal caution can take one "out of the zone", and a disconnect caution would even more so I suppose. Everyone is different.

As for the race being 200 laps minus 1 Dan Wheldon tribute lap and minus 1 pace lap for a total of 198 laps. We could get that back up to a full 200 easily if a Disconnect Caution occurred. (Not that I would wish one, I simply wish a system in place.) Also, keep in mind that the Disconnect Caution is not calling for a restart of the entire race if it happens early on. The host simply subtracts the amount of laps we've already completed.

As for the practices coming up the week before the race, would it be possible to designate one of those practices to make sure everyone fully understands the rules, and to run some caution scenarios?

hence why I would like everyone to be present during qualifying, then we can go through this and rehearse it, as well as getting some qualifying done, Therefore if most see qualifying happen for other driver's they cant claim foul,

I've been doing some practice runs and I have a basic speed, but I would love to run some short practice races sometime.
I don't have a clue how to set the gearing up for the draft for example. So maybe it's an idea to have a few short races to get ready for quali and get to know each others driving style.

What are your thought?

sure we can, might run a few short races, just to get people used to the 3 wide start, is everyone ok doing it saturday night/ sunday morning between ITCC and rolex, or between DTM and ITCC???
