Hello.

I would love to join. I have 2 AE86 one turbo and one supercharged. And all the different tuning done on them. So i will have to buy a new AE86. I hope that they will pop up soon in the Used Car Dealership.

I have question: So it is not allowed to buy the upgrade parts like racing clutch etc... ?? Or racing suspension not the one that you can customize.

Thx and looking forward to race :)

racing clutch and racing suspension is fine. :)
it's just trying to keep to the Manga/Anime specs.

So for transmission, you can only choose from the two, either the stock transmission or the 5 speed close ratio transmission.

Just read the specs restrictions again, it's pretty self-explanitory. 👍

I'm in need of an 86 and the GC8 Sti if anyone has a extra one of either. I thought that Bunta's GC8 was a version V not VI but probably wouldn't make a difference either way not sure though.

I am running the GC8 Time attack 100% stock. Can we do suspension mods at all? Or does the "everything stock" mean stock as far as power mods?

I'm running mine 100% stock.. With an engine rebuild, and chassis refresh... Plus I out my Bob behind the wheel for an endurance race the other night, changed the oil, and bumped my HP some, after breaking her in properly, after the rebuild! 👍

Good luck bro! :)

I finally got myself a time I like using the Logitech Driving Force Pro. It is 8:40.544
I will upload my replay in a little bit for confirmation.
You will notice in the replay there was another person in a GC8. He is not running in this time attack challenge. He will be running the next challenge I believe.

Who could this mysterious driver driving the other GC8 be? Oh, I wonder....

Anyways, can you enter me into the AE86 challenge?

Thanks! Hopefully I can make more time to try and shave my time down. I did two more runs after that one and was flying through the first half of the course then ended up crashing at the latter part of the course. :(
Still, I am happy with that run so it's all good :)

Here is the link to download my replay data. -> http://www.4shared.com/file/qp58rxlT/InitialD_TA_GC8-1.html

No one will ever know... He was a great driver that drove with the winds of destiny onto the road of victory...or the wall!

haha, Just kidding.

I just started playing GT5 around Christmas and lurking around GTPlanet for information, but had to sign up for this Initial D challenge. I enjoyed the anime a few years back and thought this would be fun.

Looks like I need to find the regular AE86. The only one I have is the "Sprinter Trueno GT-APEX (AE86 Shuichi Shigeno Ver.) ‘00" I happened across it in the UCD and had to buy it.

And I'm a little confused on which Impreza I need to use for Bunta's time trial. I have the "Subaru Impreza Coupe WRX typeR STi Version VI ‘99" which is stated in the first post, but I also saw some posts stating the use of "Sti Version V (CG8)", which I'm not sure if I have. Not sure if it makes a difference though. Please let me know.

Gonna go do some laps with the Version VI '99, just to see if I can be competitive or if I'm completely outclassed.

I ran the same car as you, the Subaru Impreza Coupe WRX typeR STi Version VI '99. I am not sure if the Version V is different.

The AE86 challenge seems pretty exciting. Please sign me up for it, thanks.

Also sports hard tire is fine even if they don't warm up fast enough, because I think softer sport tires have too much grip and also having a standard tire grade would make all the laptimes more consistent.

The correct car to use in the Time Trial Challenge is the "Subaru Impreza Coupe WRX typeR STi Version VI ‘99".

In the Manga/Anime, Bunta's Subaru is the "Subaru Impreza Coupe WRX typeR STi Version V ‘98" which is not available in GT5. GT5 has the "Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STi Version V ‘98", but that's a sedan, not a coupe.

Yes, I agree with you. Sports hard tyres will hopefully provide a more level playing field between weight and horsepower. Also, Sports Hard seem to have laptimes closer to real life.

I love this!

I'll definitely throw in my hat and put down some times.

What about the future, would you consider running a little cat and mouse touge style 1 on 1 series? Or is that what the Trueno series is?

And yes, I was totally obsessed with Initial D for a while. I just started watching Stage 1 because I wanted to see whether Takumi would really race or not. That lead up to the first race was magical. Following it all the way to Project D was intense and it eventually got so epic when he took out that Cappacino with the lights off and lasted longer them the Dr. on Purple Shadow. So cool, I almost wanna watch them through again. They taught me so much about racing (although some of the stuff, admittedly, should be taken with a grain of salt considering context). I was surprised how much real world racing theory made it into the series.
Any word on Stage 5?

Dang, I still cant get a hold of the AE86 and the Subaru Impreza Coupe WRX typeR STi Version VI ‘99.

I was trying to get a hold the whole last night and it did not pop up in the used car dealership :grumpy: :banghead:

Hope that till february i have the cars and can burn some rubber :)

And than it would be probably a good idea to post the videos of the winners to be able to learn something.

I can send you an AE86. I've been buying every single one I come across. I'll send you when I get back, add me on PSN.

The future of the series, I guess it's only limited to what GT5 can do I guess and the creativity of the challenges.

Cat and Mouse touge, yes, that's something we'll definetly head towards. However, currently looking at the trend, there is interest in touge but it's not solid enough. I've been to almost every touge thread and many of them is now inactive. Perhaps one day, Touge will be as big as drifting. But we won't know do we?

The Trueno Series is actually a "Tuning Challenge" for a series of "Time Trials".
I am working with psyco-joe towards hosting online challenges. But nothing is set in stone yet. If anyone else is interested in helping this series out, PM me!

Ok found "Subaru Impreza Coupe WRX typeR STi Version VI ‘99".
But still no AE86.

Anyway the Subaru has 297 BHP. Just changed the oil and overhauld the engine. ANd it had 279 BHP before the engine overhaul. Is that ok?

Ok regarding the Tune ups - so enigne tuning is forbidden. I got that. I know I asked this befor but to be sure - i suppose we can install the fully customisable suspension, Carbon Propeller Shaft etc. or????? As that doesnt change anything on the power of the car. And in the serie they talked as how to tune the suspension and so.

Thx

I kept my Subaru 100% stock but I do imagine that suspension tuning should be allowed for that reason.
As far as touge, I want to do that so bad but the only thing is that we need a good track to do it in. I was thinking of maybe using technical sections of some tracks could work okay for now. I hope they come up with an update for point to point map making soon as well as the ability to actually run the custom maps during online races. As well making it more user controlled.

I still can't find a Version VI in the UCD so if anyone would be willing to lend me one for a day or two I have a lot of great cars you could check out in return. I am also looking to trade someone for a Sprinter Trueno if I can't come up with one before next month. I do have a Levin AE86 and it might not be a bad idea to allow it along with the Sprinter if enough people cannot find it.

The Subaru has to be kept stock apart from oil change and rebuilds.

That's the nature of the challenge. It's to really display the skills of a player by having everyone to use the exact same car, without modifications or anything.

Yes, we'll have to wait to see for custom maps, but for now. If you have some ideas about hosting touge online, you'll have my full support! haha...

+BKOTT Time update for me!

I can let you borrow my Version VI. I will add send you a friend request today.

Thanks i'll go add you tonight. Wanna check out the 22B STi while I put a time down? I know it's not easy to get and it has the same type bumper as Bunta's GC8.

Good insight on the Version V vs. VI by I didn't know it was a sedan vs. the coupe. Seems like Version VI will be the perfect Bunta Impreza represented in GT5.

One question though. Is this intended to stay as a time trial only series or will it eventually turn into a Initial D style heads up togue race? It sounded from the initial post that it would become a type of Initial D style uphill/downhill racing (possibly heads up) so wanted to clarify since I wasn't able to determine at all from the previous posts I have read.

sorry bout the double pst

Depending on the response, it may eventually turn into an Initial D style touge race. We're working out the details on this and will be doing some tests on this.
Update: Profilic showed me the route just now on Nürburgring. It seems pretty good... haha... So we're making progress!

So far, I've got a two people on board this to help out in this area. As always, PM me if you're interested in helping out to serve the fans and racers alike!

okay just got on tonight thanks for the quick response and friend requests this looks like it's gonna be some serious fun. I really am not pushing any Vs. action but it might draw a good crowd who knows? I think it would be nice if it were up to the participants as a whole; although if people want to keep this as strictly a time attack challenge I'm sure someone will start an Initial D type Up/Downhill series in the future. Gonna get some laps in tomorrow if i can will send the first of you to lend me your Version VI a 22B to have fun with just ask that you send it back sooner than later unchanged.

Thanks Joe 22B in your gifts; will be glad to lay down a time with the Bunta STi tomorrow. I know the 22B isn't modded but feel free to put whatever on as long as it's not engine stages or weight reductions have fun and I'll return your Version VI tomorrow sometime the 22B is not an easy car to pick up if your not watching closely even then doesn't come around often take care of her.
