davissi in the UK tables already claimed "I will not be a racing driver". We all know he's quick enough to get to the UK finals and probably win...but in his words he is too old to be a real racer.

I hope they pick up 21st place if this is the case as I can't even beat his times he's set already!

May I ask how old he is?

I honestly don't know.

I could dig the quote out from PistonHeads, but as far as I remember he didn't disclose his age.

I think markyboy92 in the UK table is also under 18. Could be wrong...I just hope they pick positions 21, 22...and maybe 23 or 24...lol.

Also, Jack Stanley is doing a superb job with the sixaxis sitting in the top 20. But how will he fair with the rigs at the UK finals? I understand they will all be DFGT's.

Well regardless of his age he would be silly to miss out on an experience of a life time. Seriously, if you have any contact with him then tell him from me that this 48 year old loved every minute of it and the experience of competing against the best GT can offer from the UK & Eire will remain with me for the rest of my life.

In any case, In the rules I believe he has the right to decline the invite to the International Finals if he ever got that far and they will replace him with the next driver in the pecking order.

I agree.

But...for some people with a family, with debt, with huge work commitments...quitting it all for an unpaid year is simply NOT possible.

It would be hard work for me, but fortunately I know my girlfriend and family would support me financially and I don't have a family to support.

Remember, Lars got sacked because of his commitment. He couldn't handle it...

I understand all that, but in davissi's case he doesn't need to go that far. As a huge GT fan as I'm sure he is, the National Finals is a GT fans dream come true, never mind the fanstasic things that come after that. I mean, all paid for travel and two days in a top hotel in London for you and a partner to keep you company, an evening with food and drink all laid on to chat and get to know your compeitors and organisers, and a whole day of racing GT in the best virtual racing environment you'll ever have the oppertunity to compete in.

Did I sell it well. ;)

I'm sure he reads these anyway.

I just think that perhaps, those who have no intention of going all the way shouldn't compete. They could be denying those who are more passionate, albeit slower over a timed lap, an oppertunity of a life time.

Maybe I'm just being selfish, but I had much respect for him when he made said announcement. Who am I to persuade him to take up a place that might be available to someone who DOES want to become a racing driver?

He'll make the right decision that's best for him. As far as I know he was in the top 20 last year?

No disrespect to those that are not eligible, but I did notice are substantial amount of GTP tags in the Top 20 that are either under 18 or apparently not on a full license. How will that work in regards to the competition? Do the eligible people floating around in the thirties and forties miss out or will they be "bumped up" once the ineligible players are disqualified?

Again, not bagging those that aren't eligible, just a question.

They select the next fastest times on the board, this much was written in the legal requirements. So at the moment, probably 21st-25th at least will all be heading to the Nationals if they themselves are elligible. DEVIE and MarkWebber are almost guaranteed as having one of them heading to the UK, since the only guy that can even come sort of close to touching their pace at the moment is Mad94d who can't go for his age. Even then, DEVIE (no offence mate) would have a seriously hard time topping Dan in one day, and since Dan is completely set to go to the UK, you can almost already guess who has won the Aussie Nationals, unless some absolute freak show freak of nature from out of this world shows up out of the deep blue, because that's what it'd take to beat Dan.:sly:

Sure is quick, hope he can transfer that pace into a real car because the comp is his to lose.

My goal is to get within 2 seconds of his time. If I can do that, i'll be happy! :)

They at least provide some very good ghosts to follow, don't they? I've done a lot of hot-lapping myself in another game, and if you talk to the Top 50 or even Top 10 folks, they'll usually have done several hundred laps to get to the very top.

It's a very transparent challenge as there are no hidden tricks, you can't keep any information to yourself to give you an advantage, and perfect replays with perfect lines are priceless. Either you'll figure them out yourself or you are talented enough to mimic them.

I know it hurts very much if a dream doesn't come true, but failing is part of the game.

Well i've worked my way into the top 50. I guess its a lottery as to who is eligible in front of me. Was reading the T&C and there are a few clauses in there that may catch people out.

No criminal convictions is one of the not so obvious ones.

What is this for bullcrap???? I reside in Belgium but Im Italian and I had the PSN ID since the playstation network went online on day one, even tho I live here I love that my PS3 interface is in Italian. As soon as I heard the demo was out I rushed to power on the PS3 and download the thing... after enjoyn the first few days with the dualshok3 I put my foot down and hands on G25... ok... now I have a fast time (not fast considering the 3.23.xxx aliens) and Im ranked in top 50 next to my Italian counterparts, good I say, but then I see the requirements...

Im not furious yet, ok Ill create a new PSN making sure its a Belgian PSN ID because i live here, and I start up the demo./ NOT!!

PSN says: download the demo again because you live in Belgium and this demo is in Italian...

I mean COM ON!!!! Why do I have to wait 350minutes (yeah, my connection is Belgacom light) for something that I already have???

well, theres nothing i can do but wait, but just for this matter I will give 107% to get in the top 20 in Belgium
